Just saw the film this evening in Vancouver, BC (Canada). It's being reshown this week after its first screening in the Vancouver International Film Festival a few weeks ago. Such a moving journey--a homecoming is a familiar theme, but it is lived through the fresh perspective of each performer. Youssou is amazing. The music? Absolutely FANTASTIC!!!
Hi! A DVD with film & concert is out in some countries yet, but it's not the best edition. In some other countries, Return to Goree will be in theaters in 2009. The french edition of the DVD will be beautiful, with film, concert in goree, and a lot of bonuses with extensive interviews of all the characters.
je part septembre au senegal dakar pour visitez mon famille labas je married un senegalais mois j'ai une belge et je part voir goree je pense ca va etre tres dur pour moi
youssou n'dour is a good man, i'm going to miss driving in taxis around dakar with his music lifting us all up. i live in senegal, i was born here and it is my home.
I can't wait to see that movie in NYC> It's so moving and brings me back to our fatherland (Africa)> love ya Africa. Africa Unite like Bob Marley says.
Artmattan in New York is the distibutor in the US. The film will be screened at the BAM (Brooklyn) - Best of the African Diaspora Film festival, feb 16-21. Then the film will be n theaters in NYC, Chicago, LA and other cities to be confirmed. Theatrical realease in UK in March, in France in April. Take care.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
I don't buy it, jazz is an american music and that sounds nothing like jazz.
I don't understand why Americans try so hard to attribute a great accomplishment of our people to some far away place. A shame.
I know many Africans and none of them listen to jazz.
