In the courtroom nothing counts like the meaning of words...and the words used in law sound the same as the words used in english but mean something completely different. They (the Law society) even have their own dictionary (Called 'Black's Law Dictionary') & it makes for some scary reading! but they don't tell you about it at school so when you're in court you're at an immediate disadvantage.

Well, if you are in the 'Public Domain' (i.e. the park, or the Mall) then you would be correct. However in this instance you are in 'THEIR PLACE OF BUSINESS', They are running a business (the business of Law) and you are in their office (The Court)! Almost exactly the same thing recently happened to a friend of mine. The Judge told him to sit down, and when he didn't comply the Judge began repeatedly yelling at him to sit down. Finally my friend said something to the effect of "I'm sorry your honor, but I don't take orders from civil servants." The Judge went into a short, angry lecture about my friend wasting everyone's time, then proceeded with the case. I suspect now that if my friend had have sat down, he would have been arrested.

@hitlerscow Respecting the Judge, courtroom etiquite and following proper courtroom decorum can go a long way in helping your case. Trust me, I know. If you don't like the judge or the court, you can, in many cases, appeal his decision and the proceeding. You can ask for a dismissal based upon certain circumstances. This matter could have been settled out of court, and been a simple civil matter rather than a criminal one. Unfortunately. most people are intimidated due to lack of experience.

@hitlerscow Agreed. Unfortunately many local jurisdictions do have crooked and evil judges and politicians with their own selfish and greedy agendas. That is why so many cases get appealed to higher courts, sometimes to the federal level. Many cases can be reassigned or even dismissed due to the Judges bias and extreme prejudice. I wish all was fair with the legal system, and that judgements were universal. The system is far from perfect, but it's better than the Spanish Inquisition, lol.

I Know You See This: I totally agree with you. Anyone going to court or even planning what to say if stopped by a Policy Enforcement Officer,(cop), should have their script worked out well in advance. It would also be a nice touch to have your bills ready made out for any orders that they might want to give you or for any time that you spend under arrest. Apparently courts aren't so keen to arrest folk if they are charged a couple of thousand pounds (or dollars) for doing so.

- Demanded ID from all the officers

- Told the officers that they do not have permission to touch you.

- Demanded the Law that was broken

- if you had a fee statment you could have served that to comply with "court orders"

- should have been bonded
