I really like this guy's speculations on the topic. However, Stephen Hawking is not only a more intelligent human being than Boogie, but has also spent a lot more time speculating in the matter. You're right about the fact that no one (atleast not from Earth) will probably ever figure the entire Universe out, but Stephen Hawking, given his knowledge on OUR solar system and it's planets has all the right to say that he's figured out what will happen "after death". (My opinion)

The universe we live in is soooo large that it is impossible for us to fathom. The truth of life after death is that we will never know. No one will ever know. No one.
There are personal reasons why I believe certain things I believe about death. I respect others opinions as well, because they need to experience certain phenomanena for themselves. I am a large believer in ghosts and the paranormal. Ive had my own personal experiences, including a deceased loved one. I think maybe because I am a creative and imaginative soul, I am more open to the mystical qualities of life than others. Ultimately, your beliefs are shaped around your mind type and experiences
Here is the crux of this whole thing. Do you value empiricism or faith? If you value being able to verify claims then you are a scientist. I find it incredibly strange that a person who values faith over evidence would even dare to use the products of such empiricism (cell phones, modern medicine). Hawking simply said that under the current view of the universe we have we have no reason to postulate that life continues after death. The same reason why have no reason to believe in Unicorns.

UFO vids for example are typically filmed with an 8 pixel camera or a shoe showing some dust moving across the screen. If you're saying that your mom went quickly, that's a blessing for her, right, though not for you having to deal with the loss. Your opinion on the topic is wrong. Yes the universe is vast and confusing, but to associate that vastness and the unknowns about it with the biology of the human body is a delusion.

There are personal reasons why I believe certain things I believe about death. I respect others opinions as well, because they need to experience certain phenomanena for themselves. I am a large believer in ghosts and the paranormal. Ive had my own personal experiences, including a deceased loved one. I think maybe because I am a creative and imaginative soul, I am more open to the mystical qualities of life than others. Ultimately, your beliefs are shaped around your mind type and experiences

Here is the crux of this whole thing. Do you value empiricism or faith? If you value being able to verify claims then you are a scientist. I find it incredibly strange that a person who values faith over evidence would even dare to use the products of such empiricism (cell phones, modern medicine). Hawking simply said that under the current view of the universe we have we have no reason to postulate that life continues after death. The same reason why have no reason to believe in Unicorns.

UFO vids for example are typically filmed with an 8 pixel camera or a shoe showing some dust moving across the screen. Same goes for ghosts, as far I have seen so far nothing but self fulfilling or blatantly fake.

What I was driving at was, we don't have the answers, and anyone who puts down someone else's thoughts on it to promote their own is a tool... just like in the movie here.

Good topic boogie. There is an afterlife, don't you worry :) it fits into the equation. All the atoms which make you and I will eventually be dispersed back out into the universe when we die. But that is just mass. Our souls can't just disapear. It is impossible. They will go somewhere and we will still exist and be a presence somewhere in this universe.

I agree with you - as someone who is studying a science degree that involves Astronomy (not astrology which happens to be bullshit). But I think comparing the Pope to Steven Hawking is ridiculous. Steven Hawking is in the pursuit of knowledge. He can change his views, according to advances in science and understanding, based on relevant theories. The Pope, on the other hand, is following a backwards fairytale based on hate, war, greed and prejudice - set in stone by editors of religious texts.
