be careful with the chicken of the sea products I saw some reviews on it on You tube that you should check out on it . and check out the Chef Boyardee product to , they tend to dry up on top of the can and can alter the flavor of what is inside .
What about medical and weapon supplies? If rioting breaks out, how are you going to protect your family? People are going to get desperate and turn on their own neighbors. Are you prepared for that? Also, we need to inform our children on the importance of conservation....Something wicked is coming this way. Because of what Obama has done to ISRAEL, GOD will surely punish our land for siding against her! I take no comfort in writing this, but it's the truth friends.
because of mice and rats, I would recommend that you should not store baged items on the ground. Rather have them on the shelve. I have started to build my food storage but still lacking a lot of necessities. Where do you get MRi's ? Not sure where in Utah to get thsi. A 72 hour emgercny kit and also for each family member store extra week's clothing in a sealed bag. That is what I have done for our two member house hold.
thats all pretty impressive, one thing I keep wondering is why people do mixes in long term or medium term storage. Instead of buying pancake mix for example, why not just store the ingredients and make a mix when you need it, it's much cheaper.
Canned butter (storebought or home canned) would help with cooking, and a little comforting flavor when you get to baking bread. Butter flavored shortening will work in a pinch, but it isn't good on bread. I would also start filling the gallon juice bottles with water when the family empties them.
Great video. I have one suggestion-- store your yeast in the freezer. It will last almost indefinitely there. Otherwise, it will last approximately 1-1/2 years on the shelf.
You’re off to a fantastic start. Look into pressure canning so in the event that you lose power you could just spend a few days canning your freezer stuff. You can pressure can over a Coleman stove. I also have a lot of meat in a freezer and keep extra canning supplies in case of long term power loose and not wanting to waste my generator time on keeping stuff frozen. Plus you will want to can your garden stuff. Great video, keep them coming.
a suggesstion I have is, we added peg board to the ends of the shelves, you can buy the hooks on ebay ... the six inch singles work well for us. you alfredo and gravy pouches..punch a hole in the top above the seal. also the items you arent able to punch a hole in you can use binder clips from the office supplu store and then slide them onto the six inch hook. thanks for posting your video
You can extend the life of your yeast by keeping it in the freezer. If you want to go a little cheaper you can make up your own mixes (pancake mix, muffin etc). I'm doing 25 lbs of pancake mix at a time and storing in mylar bags with oxygen absorbers inside a 5 gallong food grade bucket. I have a lot more kids than you. Also not sure if you interested but if you learn to can you can do a lot of those fruits yourself canning. Good job!
Good storage. Get a cat with claws to keep rodents out. I keep all my items like beans, rice, wheat, flour in 5 gallon buckets to keep out pests and for easy transport (you may have to leave your home). Do you have means to defend your food and family? A man with a cheap .22 rifle can take all you have in a minute. Good luck, it looks like you are on the right track.
You've done a great job! I saw one length of summer sausage. Aldi, sells pepperoni too. That's good to have for pizza, if you like it. Didn't see vinegar...maybe I missed it. Good to have for many reasons. Two other things I didn't see were Parmesan cheese and cocoa powder. These are beyond basics but good to have. The only other recommendation I would have for you is to get your juice bottles and water bottles off the concrete floor. Chemicals from concrete can leach into your bottles.
Wow is that organized neatly. You have a good selection of short/med/long term food storage. You are a little light on the meat/protein area. I saw tuna/chicken but adding some TVP, powdered eggs or freeze dried meat/chicken can stretch things even more. Even getting the meat Entree's only from the MRE's is a lower cost way of stretching meals with rice/instant potatoe & they store for min. 10 years under 70 degrees.

I like those shelves you have. I've been keeping an eye on craigslist for them, with no luck so far.
