Not allowing gays to marry is just like when interracial couples weren't allowed to marry. You can't choose who you fall in love with. I don't even know how this is an issue. I am for gay marriage for two reasons: One, because I believe in equal rights for everyone, and banning gays from marriage would be on par with banning blacks or asians from getting married (or non-religious folk, since it's supposedly a religious right), and two, because I don't think our government should have the power to decide who we can or can not marry.

The issue is the the Christian side of marriages. Christian's see marriage as an authority under God to be together. Homosexuality is a sin in the Christian religion, so allowing homosexuals to be united under God is a blasphemy to their religion.
This is a country of religious freedom, and therefore that needs to be respected. The best solution imo is to create the distinction, legally, between a Christian marriage and a legal marriage, both having the same rights, but a religious distinction.
and this is already in place in some Christian sects. (specifically I know for sure Catholic's, who do not hate Gay people, they just don't approve of the acts(which some people think is the same thing... but totally not.)) Who, in order to have a marriage that is under Gods law, it must be blessed by the church.

I am for gay marriage for two reasons: One, because I believe in equal rights for everyone, and banning gays from marriage would be on par with banning blacks or asians from getting married (or non-religious folk, since it's supposedly a religious right), and two, because I don't think our government should have the power to decide who we can or can not marry.

The issue is the the Christian side of marriages. Christian's see marriage as an authority under God to be together. Homosexuality is a sin in the Christian religion, so allowing homosexuals to be united under God is a blasphemy to their religion.
This is a country of religious freedom, and therefore that needs to be respected. The best solution imo is to create the distinction, legally, between a Christian marriage and a legal marriage, both having the same rights, but a religious distinction.

Who, in order to have a marriage that is under Gods law, it must be blessed by the church.
Personally, if they are going to be together anyways, why not let them have the legal rights of a married couple. (especially since they can adopt/have kids. it's only fair/just)

The government does not institute religious marriage. It is secular, and it can't prefer one religion over another (First Amendment, Treaty of Tripoli, etc) so it couldn't award certain rights to Christian marriages any more than it could tax churches.
