There was only 2 or 3 bars in Philly that showed the BHop vs. Calzaghe fight! I was in Philly at the time and the bars that usually show boxing showed MMA that night (and BHOP is a Philly fighter). and most North Philly guys do not even know who BHop is!
i dont know kid, bars i go to in North Philly always got fights on or the barbershops,dont know if they had this fight cause i was in camden but trust me nard is well known in north philly especialy after trinidad
we look at every sports bar from south street to old city to center city to north philly on the night of the bhop calzaghe fight. there were only 2 bars we found - out of the 50+ bars that showed the fight, and those 2 bars required formal shoes and pants to get in. most of them showed MMA instead. bars have to pay certain fees to show ppv events but i don't think that fight was even on ppv.
@Viral: Also, Did you realize Joe Frazier Gym was in North Philly? Did you know Nard would frequent there at times? How would the locals not know who he is?! I lived in North Philly for THREE YEARS BEHIND DIAMOND STREET which is the street where BHOP grew up. On the left is Joe Frazier's Gym, on the right is The Legendary Blue Horizon. I used to run past the Blue Horizon almost everyday. They even gave me a free pass to the Horizon. Watch a few fights there. Also I know hundreds of locals who were born and raised in North Philly. I would say over 50% of them do not know who BHOP IS!!!

I was shocked myself when I met a lot of North Philly residents and locals who did not know who BHOP was. Sorry if it sounds disrespectful, but from my point of view, the hundreds of North Philly residents that I have met, most of them unfortunately do not know BHOP. Like I said, I lived in North Philly behind Diamond Street for 3 years. I took part in a lot of community service activities such as tree planting, building parks, cleaning neighborhoods, renovating etc in North Philly. I met a lot of residents this way. BHOP is one of my fav of all time and I am not trying criticize his accomplishments. This whole discussions started with you not able to find a bar to watch the fight in FL. I made a comment saying that problem is not exclusive to FL it was also a problem for us in Philly when BHOP fought Calzaghe. Even though Bhop an NP hero and rolemodel I am almost 100% sure that Kobe, Lebron, Wade, Dwight Howard, Shaq, Duncan, Garnett, Tiger Woods, Michael Vick, TO, Iverson and a lot of other athletes are more KNOWN even in NP. I agree that he is very popular among boxing fans but again I am talking about the general population. I DEFINITELY have not met most of the original local residents of NP (not students or store owners), but I have met at LEAST 100 and have tried to talk boxing with them. I am serious when I say most of them do not know who BHop is. Maybe I need to meet a 1000, but I think 100 is (statistically speaking) quite OK to draw a vague conclusion.
In the video it seemed that u were complaining about not being able to watch the fight because u were in FL. After havin a hard time tryin to find a bar that showed the BHop(the most notable Philly fighter today)Calzaghe fight,I assumed that finding many bars in Philly that show the much smaller Campbell-Bradley fight would not be apiece of cake. Maybe you could have easily watched the fight at ur home in Philly, it just seemed that you were disappointed at the FL bars for not showing the fight.
That fight was supposed to be huge with Calzaghe being undefeated. If I remember correctly, it was not on PPV, so the bars did not have to pay the certain fees allowing them to show PPV fights without getting sued. So it was shocking to find only 2 out of 50-60 bars we checked out in Philadelphia show a mega BHOP fight.

Boxing is huge in Puerto Rico but u cannot assume every Puerto Rican to follow boxing. I always thought Julio Cesar Chavez was the biggest sports name in Mexico, but I have met many Mexicans who say some of the Mexican soccer players there are much more known than Chavez.

what part of Philly r u from? i have tried on many occasions to talk boxing with random NP residents assuming they would know boxing, but the majority of them do not follow boxing.
im not from philly,im from camden thats in jersey right across the blue its like another neighborhood of philly,but i go back and 4th lots of fam and friends in philly & i spend a lot of time at the va hospital at 34 & woodland & thats another place we could put ur theory to test
Also I clearly remember the night Hop fought Winky. This was during the summer and a friend and I took the subway from North Philly at like 9 in the evening planning to watch the fight at a bar in Old City and then going to Club 27 after the fight. We were very excited about the fight and I clearly remember asking random people on the subway from NP if they were gonna watch the fight. Out of the several people (may be about 10) only one person knew about the fight and he picked Winky to win!!!

Timothy Bradley is the man. He went into this fight with a whole lot of respect for Campbell and it obviously made him train hard for this fight. Thats good mentality. WHAT! there is no Showtime in Florida??? btw, bloodboxing, dont let the Philly guy fool you. even bars in Philly do not show much boxing. There was only 2 or 3 bars in Philly that showed the BHop vs. Calzaghe fight! I was in Philly at the time and the bars that usually show boxing showed MMA that night (and BHOP is a Philly fighter). and most North Philly guys do not even know who BHop is!

we look at every sports bar from south street to old city to center city to north philly on the night of the bhop calzaghe fight. there were only 2 bars we found - out of the 50+ bars that showed the fight, and those 2 bars required formal shoes and pants to get in. most of them showed MMA instead. bars have to pay certain fees to show ppv events but i don't think that fight was even on ppv.

I lived in North Philly for THREE YEARS BEHIND DIAMOND STREET which is the street where BHOP grew up. On the left is Joe Frazier's Gym, on the right is The Legendary Blue Horizon. I used to run past the Blue Horizon almost everyday. They even gave me a free pass to the Horizon. Watch a few fights there. Also I know hundreds of locals who were born and raised in North Philly. I would say over 50% of them do not know who BHOP IS!!!

I was shocked myself when I met a lot of North Philly residents and locals who did not know who BHOP was. Sorry if it sounds disrespectful, but from my point of view, the hundreds of North Philly residents that I have met, most of them unfortunately do not know BHOP. I took part in a lot of community service activities such as tree planting, building parks, cleaning neighborhoods, renovating etc in North Philly. I met a lot of residents this way. BHOP is one of my fav of all time and I am not trying criticize his accomplishments. This whole discussions started with you not able to find a bar to watch the fight in FL. I made a comment saying that problem is not exclusive to FL it was also a problem for us in Philly when BHOP fought Calzaghe. Trust me we checked out at least 50-60 sports bars around the city that night and found 2 that showed the fight, but could not get in cuz we were wearing sneakers.

Again, this is not about Bhop's credentials, achievements, or legend status. This discussion is about his name being known in Philly. Even though Bhop an NP hero and rolemodel I am almost 100% sure that Kobe, Lebron, Wade, Dwight Howard, Shaq, Duncan, Garnett, Tiger Woods, Michael Vick, TO, Iverson and a lot of other athletes are more KNOWN even in NP. If boxing was still a mega sport we would not even have had this discussion. U and I would not even have had trouble finding bars.

I agree that he is very popular among boxing fans but again I am talking about the general population. I DEFINITELY have not met most of the original local residents of NP (not students or store owners), but I have met at LEAST 100 and have tried to talk boxing with them. I am serious when I say most of them do not know who BHop is. Maybe I need to meet a 1000, but I think 100 is (statistically speaking) quite OK to draw a vague conclusion.

In the video it seemed that u were complaining about not being able to watch the fight because u were in FL. After havin a hard time tryin to find a bar that showed the BHop(the most notable Philly fighter today)Calzaghe fight,I assumed that finding many bars in Philly that show the much smaller Campbell-Bradley fight would not be apiece of cake. Maybe you could have easily watched the fight at ur home in Philly, it just seemed that you were disappointed at the FL bars for not showing the fight.

That fight was supposed to be huge with Calzaghe being undefeated. If I remember correctly, it was not on PPV, so the bars did not have to pay the certain fees allowing them to show PPV fights without getting sued. So it was shocking to find only 2 out of 50-60 bars we checked out in Philadelphia show a mega BHOP fight.

Also when I was talking about the Horizon and saying on average during my time there I would say over 70% of the attendants were NON LOCAL (I was not talking about BHOP). Usually over 50% of the attendants were white and white residents are a minority in North Philly. It was just obvious that most of the attendants at the Blue Horizon were not North Philly residents.

Boxing is huge in Puerto Rico but u cannot assume every Puerto Rican to follow boxing. I always thought Julio Cesar Chavez was the biggest sports name in Mexico, but I have met many Mexicans who say some of the Mexican soccer players there are much more known than Chavez.

Ok the next time I visit Philly, I will definitely try to do a survey - something like asking the first 500 NP residents I see on some chosen park in NP if they know who BHOP is. That may take me a hour or two, but I would definitely be interested in doing it. I will get back to you on that. My guess is less than 50%. It is upto you whether or not you believe my statistics. Also I clearly remember the night Hop fought Winky. This was during the summer and a friend and I took the subway from North Philly at like 9 in the evening planning to watch the fight at a bar in Old City and then going to Club 27 after the fight. We were very excited about the fight and I clearly remember asking random people on the subway from NP if they were gonna watch the fight. Out of the several people (may be about 10) only one person knew about the fight and he picked Winky to win!!!

Question for UK boxing fans. Where is boxing being shown, or going to be shown in the uk? At the moment with satanta going in to admin there is only FNF's on sky, and thats just British and Commonwealth fights.

Yeah man it sucks, with Setanta gone hopefully SKY will buy more fights, theres some on ITV an odd time, but other than that were fucked, i just catch the live streams on Justin TV but theres alot of messing about with getting cut off half way through.

Good video Blood, enjoyed man. I missed the fight completely, but from what I heard a lot of controversy. You guy's little piece on Cory Spinks was funny.
I hope they have a rematch. But the only thing is that Bradley dominated Campbell up until the stoppage, and I would expect the same in a rematch.
Ride Or Die, you did a good job man in this video. Bradley has a lot of options open. I'd love to see a fight b/w him and Kahn, or the winner of PM vs JD.

man i canceled showtime a while back because there hadn't been hardly any good fights.since then they've had like 3 good fights.uaually up coming fighters on showtime.Bradley will be on HBO when his contract ends.the best 140 guys besides him are on HBO.

Timothy Bradley is the man. He went into this fight with a whole lot of respect for Campbell and it obviously made him train hard for this fight. Thats good mentality. Nate seemed to like Timothy as a person but didn't show much respect for him as a fighter. Glad you caught the fight bro. Looking forward to see who he's fighting next. I think he needs another challenge.

I back amir khan to beat anyone at 140 apart from bradley and pacquiao. I say Amir khan to win a decision against alexander but alexander will test that chin coz he a bigger puncher than kotelnik. I wouldnt be surprised if alexander stopped him either.

Ride or Die is able to express his opinion here, nothing against GYGB I love those guys but sometimes they cut Ride or Die off way too much and he has a lot of knowledge when it comes to the sport of Boxing
