  • DUDE I have like carbon copies of some of those pics man how weird lol you cant beat those blood mountian sunsets eh?

  • I really want to do this someday!!!!

  • After listening to the audio version of Bill Bryson's A walk in the woods it was nice to see your compilation. Well done! Must have been a wetcercise during the last months!

  • Thanks! I hiked in 09 from Springer to Duncannon, PA. I owe the Trail 1040 miles and it calls me daily. Beautiful pics, even the damn snakes.

  • Wow you have some amazing shots! What kind of camera did you carry with you? I am planning to hike the trail as well.

  • My god, reaching Katahdin had to have been indescribable... Awesome

  • Congratulations on an epic achievement, and thank you for the beautiful pictures. I just got interested in the AT. Hmm....

  • MountainDew'98 (TripleCrowner)-It's always nice to be reminded even if you're experiance wasn't exactly what you expected.I lost myself and rediscoved me on the AT..... Contemplating 2200 miles? There is no better investment in ones self than spending quality time with yourself amungst other quality individuals.Even if you quit you'll know you tried.Life without trying isn't living.....And if you make it to the end.....it'll never end.It will live inside you forever.deweypct02 (yay'hoo)

  • Man, I can barely watch this. It's 80 days till I set off on Springer and I'm so excited/nervous it's ridiculous!

    Great video and hike! :D

  • @SpitfireMB i know how you feel. i leave april 4th. hope you have a great hike!!!

  • @royktubeyou Thanks man. You too! Hope to see you out there. :)

  • What are the white structures at about 6:35? Great video. Great music!

  • @gwenhwriter giant mountain-marshmellows! actually they're plastic-wrapped hay bales. :D

  • You are quite lucky to summit on such a beautiful day.

  • 501 on the counter would be the reason I don't wish to take the hike through it.

  • I'm Jealous. Hopefully when my sons are old enough we can do this together.

  • Awesome video

  • i am 20 years old and this inspired me to go out and hike the AT its been a life time dream !

  • im weary about documenting my thru hike with a camera/ camcorder part of me wants to have the pictures to show to everyone else, but part of me wants this to be my own personal experience. a picture is worth a thousand words, but a memory is priceless kinda deal ya know? im Torn

  • @atz123ify memories fade faster than you'd think... If I may give you some advice, forget the scenery. take pictures of people, for they, and your experiences with them, are what you will remember and care about the most. A year after your hike, when you're flipping thru photos, you'll skim over every mountain top and sunset picture you took, but you'll stare forever at the pictures of fellow hikers. Smiling and laughing at the memories the photo brings back. -Caveman NOBO 2010

  • @paradoxb3 I think you have learned the most important lesson In life. God's creation is beautiful. However, we are God's most beautiful creation.

  • I've probably watched this video at least five times. I absolutely love it!! I'm fourteen and my number one dream is to hike the AT. This video truly inspires me!! Thank you!

  • Well done! How long did it take?

  • Very good editing! Looks like you had yourself an adventure.

  • Great music choice, and some wonderful photographs! -- from a hopeful '12 NoBo Thru Hiker!

  • Great pics and just the right music....I would like to hike the trail in two years.....I'm having knee surgery in two weeks and I figure two years would give my knees time to heal. Anybody else do the trail with new knees? How about weapons? Can one carry a handgun?

  • @olebaldy1 You'd be better with a sword and a few frag grenades. Maybe a couple of flash bangs as well, just to be on the safe side. 8 )

  • @olebaldy1

Wow, we really do carry our fear on our backs(and in a holster lol)! Good luck with the knee surgery.

  • @olebaldy1 last year (2010) when i thru hiked i met a few older folks that'd had knee surgeries in addition to various other health conditions. only you alone will know how much your body can handle. I was 26 when i hiked it, and i wont lie. It's not an easy walk, however the challenge is more mental than most folks realize.

  • @olebaldy1 - Also, the ATC prefers to strongly discourage the carrying of guns on the AT.

    ATC:

"Most experienced A.T. hikers consider them impractical and unnecessary... To legally carry a firearm on the Trail, you must meet the permitting standards of the state and locality in which you are hiking... The Trail crosses 14 states and more than 90 state, federal, or local agency lands, with each having its own rules and regulations; you are responsible for knowing and following those rules."

  • This video is great man! Did you go ultralight for the trek?

  • what's that song called, and who is it by?

  • How many miles did you average per day? How does the whole mail-drop system work for food and supplies?

  • A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson brought me here! :)

  • @rexviper8 Yesterday I also finished reading "A Walk in the Woods"!

It makes me want to take a long walk...quite a long way from my home (Cuneo, Italy...).

Hope never dies, someday I will hike the AT...

  • What are the white table-like formations at 6:36?

  • @veerkar They were wrapped bales of hay. It rained so much in June and July this was probably necessary. Stacked two high and I took a nice nap on top in the sun.
