It is very funny to see some clowns talking about a Land Rover in a video about an Xtrail.

Why comparing a $70000.00 vehicle with a small SUV, that barely cost $26000.00. They are not even in the same segment or inteded for the same use.
The Best small SUV for real off roading, in the regular segment, not premium or fancy brands, is the Vitara, since it does have low range. However, I must admit the Xtrail is a really good SUV too, and very useful.
X trails are 4x4 - 3 modes "2wd" (Front only) "Auto" normally 2wd but will cut into AWD when the going gets tougher and "lock" splits drive 50/50 whatever happens. Tyres, ground clearance (suspension) and snorkels are the deciding factors - X trails lack true off road clearance, but do make the best of what they have (a good compromise)
4wd lock would have helped also doing a run up may have helped too. :)

We did make it up.... just needed a little more grunt... and It's an X-Trail the Best of the small 4x4's

Rover has air suspension, air tires, run flat hill tires, anti coverover, exhaust lift, front end air bags.
