Great video, thanks Carmine. I like your website caption "A tribute to my modesty", hilarious!
Any thoughts on a good electric powered amp that's an alternative to the AC-33 but portable, (hopefully) inexpensive and similar in quality and features? I'm thinking of buying this electric Oud you reviewed and want an amp specific for it? I am an absolute newbie so don't mind my ignorance. Does that Oud even make found without an accompanying amp? Thanks.
Awesome, I have been gravitating toward similar sounds on my acoustic guitar. Playing middle eastern sounding scales using delay chorus & droning sounds with my loop pedal.
Thanks for educating me on what the instrument was! Have you ever used the loop
Hi Carmine, I just bought the flatback acoustic oud and I will have to get the Martin Piezo mic for it to amp it properly. I love the flatback because it plays so well but lacks a "presence" of tone that my full size oud has. I use the CRATE Taxi for my SCA and portable sessions. Enjoyed the video.
@adaptiveagile Sure! Check out my band Djinn. It's middle eastern music with hurdy gury and beatboxing and other stuff. I also have a CD called "turkish band camp all stars" which features, oud, and other instruments. go to my website carmine dot com and click on "shop"
@CarmineGuida - Carmine, I checked out your CDs, but man, I just want to hear you solo jam on the electric oud. If you have any CDs like that I'll be your first customer. I've always been an oud fan, but the electric oud has me mesmerized. Anyway, really enjoy your videos. Thanks.
@norumba It's easy to play. I do wish the string tension was a bit tighter. I like playing in D.. but I'm thinking this might be better if I brought it up to E.
Very cool. I'll check out some of your other performances. I just ordered an AC-33. I combine a lot of world rhythms/percussion in my own compositions. I ordered the bass micro cube to go along with the AC-33 so I can split/cross the signal out of a baritone guitar & a pentatonic guitar (celloblaster) & have some better lows. That Freeze is cool too, -even better if put in a delay pedal feedback loop with modulation. OK -enuf geek. Great playing! Cheers!
