  • The E-mu 1 was a classic keyboard - one of my personal fascinations in my late teens/early 20s. The Residents made very good use of it.

  • where can get an emax

  • The Power supply is a loud bastard

  • Where did you get an Emulator I???!!!

  • @900GTi It was offered for sale on a forum, and I simply replied and we agreed on the price :-)

Then I picked it up myself (only 300km driving) and did a full service and cleaning which took a couple of days. It looks new again now and is technically 100pct in working order. No parts had to be replaced, but some "electronic cleaning" and reseating of connectors and ICs was required.

  • @esynthesist They are rare

  • @esynthesist there were only about 600 made!

  • Sounds amazing!

  • is this thing accessing data faster than a normal floppy drive?

  • @bergweg

No, the HxC emulates a floppy drive, including its slow speed :-)

In practice, loading a bank takes exactly the same time (29 seconds), while saving a bank with the beta version of the firmware took longer than on a floppy disk (110 seconds instead of 70 seconds). I informed Jeff from HxC2001 about this - maybe something can be done about it.

BTW: using RS422, loading and saving takes "only" 20 seconds with the EMuSer and even only 13 seconds with the good old Mac.

  • @esynthesist

Which Apple do you need, the apple 2?

  • @SynthfactoryCH

An Apple for doing what ? For using the good old SoundDesigner for EII, which gives the 13 seconds bank transfer ? That's the Mac Classic or SE series, running OS 6 or 7.

The HxC doesn't need any old computer equipment; the HxC software requires Windows XP or higher.

  • @esynthesist

I mean which apple do you need for the emulator 1

  • @SynthfactoryCH

I have no idea. It's almost impossible to find any information about the Computer Interface Software and the supported computers. I have never found anyone who has ever seen software on Apple which supports the RS232 software of the Emulator I. But given the design and production date of the EI and the fact that it uses a slow RS232 port (not RS422), I'm pretty sure the Apple II was the computer they are referring to.

  • @esynthesist

But for the Drumulator (wich was build a bit later) there was a Graphic rhythm Composer aviable to use with an apple 2 so i thought that you can use the emulator 1 also with the aplle 2.

  • @esynthesist

    Which Apple do you need?

  • Bing Bam Poom ! I have just read your post on the yahoo group. We will be able to write the futur soon. Happy new year

  • @huitbit A Happy New Year too !

Yes, write support for Emulator-I and Emulator-II in the SD HxC is coming soon ! Jeff from HxC2001 is finalizing the newest firmware version.

  • Hy! I've just received my Sd card Hxc floppy emu. So nice . I'm going to find a ribon cable or the teac adaptator. hope to record samples on it soon! Thank everybody who works on HXC
