i told u a stock 250 produces 65brake? i assure you that you are mistaken. i am not willing to argue with somone such as you, i have my opinions and so do you, you wanna carry on arguing then you are just some stuck up moron who HAS to let everyone know that YOU are right and everyone else is wrong, go do something else with your life ather than picking holes in other people lives. if u wanna go argue with stan stephens tuning company and tell them they cant get 42bhp from a 125 2t then fine.
look buddy, i dont care if you think i am a moron, just keep it to yourself? maddo's yz250 is at 50bhp because tuning it any higher would cause the spread of torque to become very un-even and make the bike next to useless on the bottom end. if they wanted to they could achieve way more than 50bhp.
my dad, in the 1980's had his yamaha rd 350lc road race tuned by this company, ever since he has been friendly with them, and when mentioning i had a 2 stroke crosser, they offered to tune it.
thank you, i suppose it not in bad condition for the age.
well, that is your opinon, if you dont think has 42bhp, then that is fine by me, think what you will.
Port job on a YZ = motor removed due to crank fed transfer ports Remove motor + head and barrel + put them back = 4 hours work 8 hours work for port & polish $800 for a pipe Jets $80 Piston & Rings + Gaskets $150 Rebore $250 Boysens Rad Valve $120 Dyno $250 They do this for a customer for FREE A customer they had 30 years ago that they are FRIENDLY with - Shops are friendly with EVERYBODY they want to SELL you stuff! Lots have done this, but not on a 10 year old bike & NOT = 42HP
port job, refering to the exhaust port is a simple job, the transfer ports are more complex yes, but nothing undo-able. my custom pipe was no were near $800, i didnt need a new piston or rings they were near enough new as it is.
my dad has been using them often, (motorbike hobby, loves his 2 strokes) so hes down there all the time getting dyno readings and stuff.
if you dont belive me then just keep it to yourself! i KNOW my bike is proffesinonally tuned to 42 brake.

no mate, theyre serisouly not that fast. the yz 125 will be so much quicker, they produce more bhp. the 200exc isnt designed for huge amounts of power. mabye it will keep up with the 450, i dont know im not into enduro, but the 250r and the yz125 will fuck it over.

lol 32bhp yz 125? yes mate, thats why my yz dyno'd at 42bhp AT THE REAR WHEEL. i would personally take a yz 125 over a 200exc. i have indeed ridden a 200, and it felt no where near as powerful as my yz. my yz power wheelies into 4th gear mate, a yz 125 is a racing bike, not some little enduro.
if you are still willing to argue, then feel free mate, i am just not going to reply to someone that blatently doesnt understand how a 2 stroke engine works, if you dont think 42bhp is achievable from my 125 then you think that mate, but, the dyno doesnt lie.
Pipes & ports dont add 25% power Pipes MAY give < 5% power Pipes move where the power is Sandy track = FMF Gnarly (Bottom) Hard track = FMF SST (Top) Mixed track = FMF Fatty (Mid) Gnarly pipe = bottom end pipe = What you give to the bottom you TAKE AWAY from the top = LOOSE RPM #1 2 stroke pipe maker CANNOT give you 25% more power Without DFI NO 1 CYL 2T 125 HAS EVER BEEN ABLE TO DO 42HP 42HP IS 3HP MORE POWER THAN ANY 450 HAD IN 06 - AVE 06 450 = 39HP 06 525 HAD 42HP HP MAKES U MOVE!
I have raced / draged and ridden enough 4 strokers to know I wont EVER buy one! The 250R dies if you ride it hard. Its a bit like the YZ125 a guttless wonder that makes shit loads of noise but dies when it sees a slight hill. The 450's are heavy and break almost as quick as a 250R. On tight trails 80km in rocks, steep hills 1st to 3rd gear stuff you need to be Arnie to get to the finish or to get it over ledges
a yz 125 dies at the sight of a hill? lol? once on the pipe my yz will fly up any hill it needs to, i dont know what sorta yz u have ridden, oh right. a STANDARD one.
I'm not 10 and would NOT buy a YZ125 for ANY teenager on trail I would rather buy +/- YZ250 WORST case a 150R which I regret buying! 2 SMALL
Exhaust port is the critical port - raising / widening it affects the performance!
GOOD HILLS CANNOT BE RIDDEN ON THE PIPE IF YOU COULD THEN EVERY BODY CAN GET UP IT AND ITS CALLED A BUMP NOT A HILL - A DIFFICULT HILL IS THE ONE YOU PUSH AND CARRY YOUR BIKE UP!
A YZ125 IS a NICE bike to play in the backyard with or to play with at the local MX track or maybe even enter a 125 only MX race.
You cant get close to a 250 F on a track with it unless your semi pro or pro. It cant get up hills so dont bother trailing it either unless the hills are easy enough to be done on the pipe - Stick to the backyard and then its a VERY nice bike!
If you want to race you will have to spend a bit more $ and get a 150sx maybe or more
I'm open to suggestions - What would you choose to chase adults that have been riding all their lives every other weekend Where more than ½ of them raced for years!
The bike needs to do logs rivers rocks rain hills - Straight BUSH no trail - Trail - Single Track Double track and keep up with a bunch of adults that generally DONT stop for anybody - They actually get pissed off if you stop!
Depending on the trail I guess. If it was tight stuff that wasn't too boggy I would chose 150R. If it was more open and less obstacles I would choose 450 mx bike.
I bought my 150 to play around on and i forgot how well it kept up with bigger bikes. Because of the stuff I ride in sometimes my friends on 250F's and 250T's can't keep up at times because they can't throw the bike around as well.
There are better choices. You just cant buy them in OZ.
We try to ride half way between single track and trials type stuff. Rest Work Rest without stopping.
Not many trail riders want to stop and watch a person struggle along a dry river bed or anywhere else. You either make it or you dont - Next time NO INVITE TO RIDE LOL Easy as that.
I am not a 2 stroke fan so I wouldn't get something like that. My local KTM supplies the xc models here but the customers have to order them in and sign contract... much like we had to for the TM. I think YZ's powerband wouldn't be much good in trails where low end is optimum.
The YZ could be a problem It does not have much of a power band but it could still be a problem for a young guy!
Two strokes generally do well on Enduro as long as you can control your wrist and dont go spastic Experience helps The power is good and torque even better They are light riden properly very hard to beat 200 = 95kg with lights @ 42hp and tons of torque
The CR250 has a solid hit in the power band A lot more than the YZ250
However after going across ten logs the 450 is going to be getting heavy if you dont actually ride it across the logs all the time. So will the CR as you wont get it across a big log easily
Best to have the right bike for the right job - If your a kid thats a bit hard!

YEP and the bugger I bought the R for prefers a prehistoric KX100 The 100 was faster in every way everywhere despite being a 100 years old. And you cant break it. The 150R motor is ALREADY on its last legs coughing and spluttering WTF its only months old!
He went to a MX track with 2 bikes 150R left in the trailer and him riding the prehistoric KX100 all day
Go for a fun run (Harescramble) with 2 bikes 150R left in the trailer and hes riding the KX100 again
You should give your 1999 YZ125 back to Yamaha so they can learn how to get more power out of their bikes Nobody (CR KX YZ RM) could ever get that kind of power from their bikes. They all tried VERY hard to make the fastest 125 they could (RACE RESULTS sell bikes) Some backyard hick could do it out of a 10 year old junker
Stephan Everts with a TEAM of PRO mechanics from TEAM Yamaha could not get their 125 to match a 250F and somehow you are there with the 450's out of your backyard?
and yes, my bike does destroy a 09 250r, i raced a 09 yz 250f yesterday, and owned it. now listen to what im about to say, yamaha tune their stock 125's so that they have a decent range of USUABLE power. my bike, being proffessionaly tuned to 42bhp lacks the bottom end a lot. and as it happens mate, not a lot has changed from '99 to 09 with the 2 stroke engine, there near enough identical. a cr500 does 56 stock again, because tuning it higher would cause it to become unusable.
Usable power? 1987 CR500 = 56Hp 09 Maico 250 = 54hp 09 KTM300exc = 56hp Service Honda CR500 = 65Hp 09 Maico 500 = 67Hp 09 Maico 700 = 82Hp 08 YZ250 = 48Hp 09 KTM200 = 42hp this would be the same as having a YZ200 ITS A COMPETITION TO MAKE HP NOBODY MAKES A ½ BIKE THEY MAKE THE BEST BIKE THEY CAN TO WIN Think you can catch what is sort of a 09 YZ200 on 99 125 Almost 2X the CC 2 stroke motor I give up Post a scan of the dyno print out - You get that when you pay for the dyno
thats not what the different companies compete for, why have a bike that produces huge power at the top end but is useless on the bottom end? my bike has increased compression, widened transfer ports, raised exhaust port (modified powervalve also), custom pipe and fmf powercore 2 silencer, whether you like it or not, it produces 42bhp. think of it this way, if the yz 125 apparently has 32bhp, why doesnt the yz 250 have 64bhp? because it doesnt need too! what dont you understand?
buddy, you are seriously demonstrating your lack of knowledge on engins here. i havent raced a 150r so i couldnt tell you the difference, but yes, a yz 125 would beat it. and before u start winging, my yz 125 has been proffiessionally tuned and has a custom expansion chamber, and it dyno'd at 42bhp at the rear wheel, but ofcourse with any 2 stroke, as it has fantastic top end, the bottom end on it is pretty awful.
There's alot of types of bikes you could be talking about.
First of Suzuki RM125 and CRF150R. These are powerful race bikes, high maintanence compared to the trail bikes. They have lots of power and probably aren't the best first bikes but you can learn on them.
The DRZ125 and CRF150F are trail bikes. They're good for casual rides, you can pretty much do whatever to them and they won't really break. They don't have anything near the power of a race bike though.

32hp YZ125 = NO COMP for a 35Hp 250R any where under any conditions EVER! 450R at 52hp will outgun a 35Hp 250R EVERY TIME!
I have raced and riden 200's for several years 250R is no comparison to a 200exc. NOT EVEN CLOSE!
200 is faster than a 450 in tight terrain 450 is quicker on open terrain
I have and have seen over and over how 200's walk 450's to 60mph in a drag
125 vs a 450 THE 450 WOULD KILL A 125 BIG TIME! NO IF AND NO BUTS

A 125 is a under performing revy machine based on some very OLD tech!
Rather a 125 than 250R ONLY because you cant break a 125 The 250R is faster BIG TIME but breaks every other day if you ride it hard

MX bikes = great on a track & OPEN easy trail
MX Bike = CRAP on trails that are on ledges, river beds and muddy hills!
80% Trail / 20% MX get a trail bike
This is a MX bike & struggles on tight terrain even with mods it still stalls a lot!
It travels well on single & double track trails Destroy a 150F on single & double track
All riders he rides with ride full size bikes To try and stay with full size bikes on a 150F is impossible - No suspension and NO power = FAIL!
150F = dangerous!!!

You could never ride a 450 as a kid for even 1Km on a trail! - Adults struggle with a 450R!
The 1st 1M log would have you sitting there for a ½ hour trying to pull it over! Nobody want to wait for more than 2 mins!
There are heaps of logs along a trail
1 rocky river bed and your are done.
We clearly ride different terrain!!!!!!!!!

Thats goto make you think!

MMMM BS

and yes, my bike does destroy a 09 250r, i raced a 09 yz 250f yesterday, and owned it. now listen to what im about to say, yamaha tune their stock 125's so that they have a decent range of USUABLE power. my bike, being proffessionaly tuned to 42bhp lacks the bottom end a lot. and as it happens mate, not a lot has changed from '99 to 09 with the 2 stroke engine, there near enough identical. a cr500 does 56 stock again, because tuning it higher would cause it to become unusable.

thats not what the different companies compete for, why have a bike that produces huge power at the top end but is useless on the bottom end? my bike has increased compression, widened transfer ports, raised exhaust port (modified powervalve also), custom pipe and fmf powercore 2 silencer, whether you like it or not, it produces 42bhp. think of it this way, if the yz 125 apparently has 32bhp, why doesnt the yz 250 have 64bhp? because it doesnt need too! what dont you understand?

150R vs 450R would be a JOKE like comparing a V8 to a Hyundai
Sorry YZ125 owners but...09 150R vs 1999 YZ125 The gap would be a LOT smaller than you think 3 or 4 lengths over 500m straight line drag
On a track it would be up to the riders FAST rider on a 150R WOULD stomp a AVERAGE 125 rider
YZ125 is faster than a 150R no doubt but not by as much as you would like to think
Comparing a 1999 125 to a 09 YZ450 is too DUMB
YZ125 = 42Hp
42Hp would DESTROY a 09 250R!
125 = Race 200
WTF DREAM ON

buddy, you are seriously demonstrating your lack of knowledge on engins here. i havent raced a 150r so i couldnt tell you the difference, but yes, a yz 125 would beat it. and before u start winging, my yz 125 has been proffiessionally tuned and has a custom expansion chamber, and it dyno'd at 42bhp at the rear wheel, but ofcourse with any 2 stroke, as it has fantastic top end, the bottom end on it is pretty awful.

yamaha ttr125 or a 150r but dont get the f model the crf150r is the best bike out of those
hjskater1 2 years ago
There's alot of types of bikes you could be talking about.
First of Suzuki RM125 and CRF150R. These are powerful race bikes, high maintanence compared to the trail bikes. They have lots of power and probably aren't the best first bikes but you can learn on them.
The DRZ125 and CRF150F are trail bikes. They're good for casual rides, you can pretty much do whatever to them and they won't really break. They don't have anything near the power of a race bike though.
