True, you're right -- James K. Polk might have had the belicosity and aggressiveness of "Dub'ya" -- But, he was also twice as smart, about three times as eloquent, and infinitely more effective than "W." The Invasion of Mexico was an unjust war, even according to some who fought in it -- But, unlike the appallingly incompetent "Dub'ya," Polk won his war -- clearly and decisively, with obvious gains for the US -- (justified or no)...
You are absolutely right, triplebaseball. Polk is hardly obscure, though. If it were not for our liberal media and schools, Polk would be known by everyone. Every time we say "from sea to shining sea" we have President Polk to thank for it.
Very cool. I like the idea that you two had the cajones to do this in front of an indifferent crowd of TMBG uninitiated lunks. Now they all know the supreme eclectic coolnes of TMBG! Thanks!
I know what you mean. Anytime someone happens to hear TMBG that has no prior knowledge, I'm like that person has just been unleashed into the beautiful world of TMBG and doesn't even realize it.
Kids, you have AWESOME taste in songs!! Love the enthusiasm you bring to it!

This is a great song, but there is much turmoil here. Polk forced a war with Mexico with the lever of terror. He was the dub'ya of his time!

Dubya? He couldn't dream of this sort of success in any endeavour. This isn't political, it is fact, it is history.

Polk may be obscure but he is one of our greatest presidents.
