  • i like what y'all doing to help these animals

  • Cómo sería el resultado de la cruza entre liger y liger, sería más grande todavía? , GUAU!

  • My cousin owned cougar haven. I hate that it didn't work out for David.

  • i wonder what you would get if a hippo and a rihno mated? O_O;

  • @tacoslurpee12345 rippno mabey? i dont think i even want to know what one mite look like

  • @tacoslurpee12345 a hino? a horned hippo?

  • Don't bother writing to the guy who is promoting ligers, unless you have tons of money to give him. If you find his email address it will say beneath it to not email him unless it's to give him a lot of money, so he's only in it for that.

  • Can Ligers mate with lions / tigers?

  • @miguelster562 Yes.

  • @BigCatRescue Deer god¡¡¡¡

  • @BigCatRescue ligers and tigers cannot mate..and tigon and lion cannot mate...its a mixbread like a horse and a donky makes a mule but mules cannot mate.

  • @MshortWitt18 They have been known to breed on rare occasions.

  • @MshortWitt18 They have been known to breed on rare occasions.

  • @MshortWitt18 Mules are totally different. Horses have 64 chromosomes and donkeys have 62 chromosomes. If horse and donkey mate, 64/2 chromosomes are given from the horse, and 62/2 chromosomes are given from the donkey. Because 32+31 is an odd number, mules are sterile (their chromosomes cannot evenly divide).

  • can two ligers make a liger?

  • @RachelxRenee No it must be a lion breeding with a tiger

  • @BigCatRescue just curious, why can't a male and female liger reproduce?

  • @RachelxRenee Males are often sterile

  • Also, it is my understanding that ligers often times are too large for the tigers (or lion) to give birth to and have to have a c-section (or worse, die during childbirth). Am I right? It seems I watched that on one of your video's somewhere....**scratches head**. In any event, that should say a lot about being a "natural species". If they were, nature would see that they would easily be born, I'm assuming. :)

  • @kathrynk007 Yes, that's correct, these animals were never meant to be :(

  • @BigCatRescue Are they only a few of them like endangered species

  • @ashes2Azhez Yes, ligers are rare but they are not a real species of cat, so they cannot be classed as endangered :)

  • all these idiots do is keep giving it food whole day, no wonder its so fat, do these animals exist in the wild? that's what I want to see

  • @MobiusX No ligers do not exist in the wild and they shouldn't exist in captivity yet people breed these cats that suffer from many health problems in order to make money. We rescued Freckles in 2008, since here rescue she has been on a much better diet and has lost weight :)

  • Evolution much? ;-D

  • @MeowChicken123

This has nothing todo with evolution, I don't get why you brought it up.

  • She's beautiful! If i were a lion, i'd hook up with her :)

  • You once had a lion cub? O am I mistaking?

  • @RattyRaccoonDoggy We were home to a younger lion at one point but never a cub?

  • Napoleon would be proud~! :D

  • Tions are real too. Not as big as Ligers though.

  • NAPOLEON DYNAMITE :D

  • It's interesting seeing a Liger, I knew they existed but I've never seen one in person. It's a shame they aren't a naturally occuring species. I agree, since it's not natural they shouldn't be bred. I'd like to see a male liger, or is that not possible?

  • @omnimon247 Male ligers are possible, they are often larger too

  • Ligers are beautiful creatures who, unfortuntly, shouldn't exist. These animals have severe health problems sometimes.SHAME ON THOSE WHO TRY TO PROFIT OFF OF THESE CREATURES SHAME!

  • @newfoundlandrules We completely agree with you, we rescued Freckles when she was in need of a home and we're able to educate the public about ligers while she is at BCR :)

  • Awwww, she's beautiful!! ^^

  • This is bad mixing different species is wrong hybrids shouldn't exist it's wrong these animals look sick I can't even stand this

  • I've seen one in Miami Zoo.(Jungle Island)

  • @mzmhf25 Yes, this is an example of a place that breeds hybrids (that shouldn't exist and white tigers are inbred) just to exploit the cats and make money :(

  • big cat rescue keep up your great work, unfortunately you have to answer to so many truly ignorant comments

  • Freckles looks pregnant or maybe she's just fat. Geez people take it easy its like saying should people have mutated children with apes? Knowing that apes share about 98% of our genes should we breed with them the answer is NO! NO WAY IN FREAKING HELL and the same goes for ligers tiger and lions are just not ment for each other.

  • @yankee82090 We haven't bred apes and humans? What are you talking about? That's been done...haven't you ever been to Chicago?

  • It's a specie and therefore she should be allowed to breed With whoever she whants

  • @Ikpojagg There's a difference between a real species and a man made "species" Ligers should not be red that's the bottom line.

  • @Ikpojagg ur retarded. it is physicly impossible for a manmade species to breed. their reproductive organs do not work.

  • I love how your videos claim that ligers are unhealthy yet you have one that is about 14-15 years old and appears fine. That they kill there mother from birth due to size, yet liger cubs appear to be the same size as a normal tiger cub. And at another preserve they have videos of the mother and her liger cub interacting. The topper is the above response to someone else's post saying they are bred by people who only care about making money and you have a spot for donations on every single video.

  • @rediculousrapper Freckles is doing good for her age, but she probably won't live as long as many of our tigers and lions. Liger cubs are larger they may appear to be the same size as lion/tiger cubs, but are not in reality. A mother and her cub interacting as nothing to do with what we say in the video. ligers a re a man made animal that shouldn't exist, people who do breed them do so to make money from drawing in the public who want to see something different and "freaky"

  • @BigCatRescue isn't the average age of tigers and lions only about 24 years? and a lot of ligers live like 15 to 20 years? so the life expectancy isn't that much shorter... jussayin.

  • @rediculousrapper Our donations go towards rescuing big cats that need a home, like Freckles who was abandoned in a backyard along with two tigers, also the donations go towards caring for the 100+ animals that call BCR home :)

  • @BigCatRescue you didnt answer the question you prick. why do you post shit saying ligers are unnatural and have so many diseases and are sterile and all of this bull shit but then you have a 14 or 15 year old one on one of your videos? your just some tree hugging poser that dont know shit from the facts. grow up. if they were never supposed to happen then there DNA wouldnt allow it. like a human trying to mate and have a kid with a monkey. its just not gonna happen. DNA wont allow it.

  • @dannyhayes34 What was the question again? We get so many posts each day we lose track of some and please do not use swear word or we will have to block you. Ligers are unhealthy cats, FACT, they are man made animals, they would not occur in the wild.

  • @BigCatRescue lol you better check your facts again. if they are so unhealthy why is this one 14 or 15 years old? lmao are you really dumb? the question was in my first post, or is this some moron kid trying to be someone else? cause anyone with half a brain can understand a simple question. ok, here it is again. you say they are unhealthy, then why is this one 14 or 15 years old? what makes them unhealthy? i bet you have no proof and i guarantee your not a zoologist. your not fooling anyone.

  • @dannyhayes34 Freckles is actually 17 years old now, this is testament to our great care and specialist vet care since we rescued her. She is an exception to the rule. It would be apparent to anyone, that two separate species breeding is not healthy which results in health problems in these hybrid animals. Visit: bigcatrescue*org/ligers for more info

  • Just because we can do it, doesn't mean we should.

  • @MyBaileyBugBaby We agree 100% :)

  • What would win between a liger and a tigon.

  • @MrCodeerror arent they the same? ha...tigon

  • i dnt know if its just me but it looks a bit out of shape...

  • Are Ligers Stronger Then Thery're Parents When They Grow Up?

  • @ivesour I'm not sure if they are pound for pound, but many ligers grow to abnormal size so I would assume that they are stronger...?

  • @BigCatRescue I dont think for example Hercules could be so much strong than a healthy full growed Tiger, in its video Hercules looks unhealthy with an abnormal quantity of flesh hanging below.

  • Ligers are awesome I want one!

  • but I dont get it .. do the chromosomes of tiger fit with lions ?

  • @durimiCC1 No, these cats shouldn't exist, yet they are bred by people who don't care about the welfare of the animals, they only care about making money!

  • She looks so gentle when you hand her food. Don't get me wrong I wouldn't go anywhere near her but still. Its nice the way that she takes the food gently from you. maybe its just cause she's use to you. But You're very lucky that you get to work and be around these gorgeous animals all the time. But I have a question. Why does she have spots?

  • @DanceRiahDance2 The appearance of ligers can change a lot between cats, they all have the markings like a tiger to some degree :) Freckles looks pretty "friendly" and gentle in this video, but like you say that can all change very quickly! Thanks for watching :)

  • THEY CANT HAVE BABIES THEY'RE LIKE MULES THEY ARE STERILE

  • no ligers cant reproduce with other tigers or lions

  • @brklynkd97 Femal ligers are often fertile so they can reproduce with tigers and lions, male ligers are often sterile but not always, so it is possible.

  • They dont want to mix Lions with Tigers!

    Thats Racist!

  • obviously, napoleon dynamite is his idol.

  • they are pretty but seeing as how i don't think lions and tigers would meet out in the wild(don't remember if asianic lions are extinct or if they are just extremely rare or to low to count them as being able to have a good gene pool) let alone be willing to breed with one another I don't see why people make the cross breed

  • @OkUrRight

asiatic lions r not extinct but yes the r very few, they can be found in Gir jungle in gujrat India , but there r no tigers there

  • people should stop abusing animals, evolution will deal with new species, mostly all of breed hybrids are not real animals, by that i mean they can't survive and breed in the wild.

  • @8Dawn8 There is no abuse here. Playing with genes is a human trait as humans are intelligent and will explore possibilities. Humans have the right to explore their capabilities and this includes genetic manipulation. Humans are not stupid enough not to explore the desire within. Humans have a tendency to question and find answer themselves............."mostly all of breed hybrids are not real animals".......Of course they are real animals even if nature didn't produce them naturally.

  • thank you for helping these animals, it is wonderful what you are doing

i think that cross breeding animals, making hybrids like liger and other ones is just wrong and immoral ..., poor big cats ;\, people found one more way to abuse them.

Ligers got it good, but there are many other animals who have been tryed to be cross breed and the results were not pretty, most of them are born with defections and suffer their whole life ...

  • you r the best

  • AMAAEEZIING!!

  • but i thought ligers couldn't reproduce???

  • but i thought ligers couldn't reproduce???

  • but i thought ligers couldn't reproduce???

  • @theglitchen females are fertile so it's possible for them to reproduce with other tigers and lions etc...

  • @BigCatRescue could a female ligon mate with a male tiglon?

  • @alreacon I'm sure they could mate, whether or not this would produce cubs is another matter?

  • @BigCatRescue ligers can't reproduce with other ligers. no

  • @dcderek24 In most cases that is true. But, that isn't entirely accurate. Not all ligers are sterile as many are made to believe. However, a good majority are.

  • @alreacon no they cannot

  • ligers can't have cubs can they?

  • @Neewah1192 Female ligers are often fertile, so yes they can have cubs, males are mostly sterile though.

  • ligers are so cute!i love how their faces look! tigers and ligers!! =D

  • The other liger Hercules us bigger he's 12ft tall and weights 900 pounds but his owner Is a scientist loleither way check him out

  • Freckles is small for a liger and males are mostly always larger, Hercules is owned by a man who purposefully breeds these cats that shouldn't exist, so he can make money off of them :(

  • man they are huge...bigger than a lion and a tiger lol

  • a liger is what happens when a male lion breeds with a femal tiger but if a male tiger breeds with a femal lion it becomes a tiglon.

message brought to you by the hell know as school

  • 100% A+ :)

  • @ShadowDragonXcel they are the same thing they look the same, act the same ,and eat the same so we really shouldn't change the name still a liger

  • ligers are beatifull creatures

i love them...even if i didnt seen any in real life

  • hey look up the person amialmedia they have crappy stuff

  • does anyone know about this new big cats. they are half CAT and half tiger. I saw one about 3 years ago.. they are about 75lbs to 120lbs. they had it in India. this is no joke. there was pics on the internet, but you don't find it anymore... Help please...

  • Ligon? ligers have a lion father tiger mother,

Ligons Tiger father lion mother, they are small for some bizarre reason.

  • I don't think there's a Ligon, I just looked it up and found nothing on Ligons.

  • @1971chrismiller Tigons are bred using a male tiger and female lion, is this what you meant?

  • @dorianleakey Tigons are bred using a male tiger and female lion, is this what you meant?

  • iits penouse tigon dumbass

  • iits penouse tigon dumbass

  • well technically they do exist but you pobably mean they aren't supposed to exist

  • fucken huge...

  • She's a cutie pie!

  • if male ligers are sterile, are male tigons sterile too?

are female ligers and tigons sterile?

  • @mythplatypuspwned actually they are considered hybrids and up to date...all hybrids are sterile ):

  • i know other hybrids

    like:

    mule(horse + donkey)

    cama(camel + llama)

  • @mythplatypuspwned Alien baby. X Files + Human ...

  • I believe female ligers have been know to be fertile

  • they defintely exist... a man was killed by one at a local zoo near where I live a few years back.

  • can ligers breed by themselves?(without lion or tiger)

  • No, they can't do this :)

  • if a liger and a tigon interbred, what would you call that?

  • This isn't possible, male ligers are sterile but:

    Lion + liger = li-liger

    Lion + tigon = li-tigon

    Tiger + liger = ti-liger

    Tiger + tigon = ti-tigon

  • @BigCatRescue WHat if they gave tthem balls of steel. then they wouildn't steril, they'd be steeril tohugh. GET IT GET IT? ITS A GOOD JOKE, HUH? Anywyas im ont steril can i breed whith them O.O

  • thz a liger o.o cool

  • is their a reason ligers live longer than Tigons?

  • This isn't true in general, it depends on the actual cats.

  • were is the big cat rescue

  • 12802 easy street, Tampa FL 33625.

    BigCatRescue*org :)

  • isnt that a tigon?

  • ligers and tigons are always different in appearance from cat to cat, it's hard to tell, Freckles isn't huge like male ligers can be.

  • um a male is a tigon :P

  • @xz707 eh isnt tigon an offspring of a male TIGER and a female LION? A liger is an offspring of male LION and female TIGER?

  • Yep, correct! :) gold star.

  • @BigCatRescue Im awesome! :)

  • hi big cat rescue, you are doing a great job for these beautiful and amazing animals may GOD bless you and give you more strength to do more for these beautiful animals, and by the way i love ligers.

  • lol its garfield turned predator XD

  • Garfield as been hitting the gym and drinking those protein shakes lol :)

  • Such a beautiful species. Even if they do suffer, they are so beautiful.

  • They're not an actual species though :) Do you think it's right for people to breed them or are you against this?

  • Yes I know, animals should not be bred. I figure it is always humans that breed animals from totally different habitats. Lions live in the serengeti and tigers live in the rainforest (if I'm correct). What I meant by beautiful is that I pretty much think all big cats are great and megestic.

  • It's good to hear you know that these cats shouldn't exist, I agree Freckles and all big cats are awesome beautiful animals :)

  • They are amazing, awsome animals ^_^ an I would love to see them myself one day but I dont think its right cause they dont have a real purpose in the wild so why keep breeding them? I hope i dont sound disrespectful. I heard that they suffer from many health problems idk if its true or not(I hope not :( lol) is it true?

  • Hi, you heard right they do suffer from health problems and should not exist this is why. We do no breeding at Big Cat Rescue, there are so many cats out there that need a home we would rather rescue them than breed more cats :)

  • thanks for answering my question i hav another one lol, I hav to do a report for school i hav to chose between a lion, leapord, or tiger what would be a good subject? an im sorry if i offened you at all about the breeding :( sorry, an i agree ^_^

  • No problem! All 3 species would make a good subject, but i'd probably choose the lion because they are my favorite :) But they are also very unique in the cat world, they are a flat color and don't have stripes/spots, they live in prides being the only true social cat (all others are solitary) Males have a mane female don't etc... They are feature a lot in history etc also

  • cool thx 4 the help ill tell you what % i get on my report again thx for the help ^_^

  • What he said made no sense really. He said "these animals are very rare in the wild and becoming more rare" then "to save this species we have to preserve their habitat" then "when ur talking about Ligers they don't even exist in the wild"

So do they exist in the wild or don't they ? I'm very confused by the last 45 sec of him talking. Or do they exist in the wild cause humans put them there by breeding them ?

  • I think Scott was talking about lions and tigers when he said to save the species we need to preserve their habitat. Ligers definitely do not exist in the wild, they are a man made animal, sorry about the confusion :)

  • Wow she is a beautiful animal. I love Tigers especially white tigers. But she is definatly top notch cute predator (Never thought id see those words too close together haha)

  • Do you know white tigers suffer many health problems also like ligers?

  • Id love to help out some how, cause that's just depressing an amazing creation to suffer . Poor things :(

  • That guy seems cool!

  • Yeah, he is, plus he works non-stop to help cats in captivity and in the wild, top guy!

  • i just went there on holiday

  • Hope you enjoyed the visit! Who was your fav cat???

  • you should try an rescue lynx's. They are very beautiful cats and in need of some rescue. = ]

  • We have several siberian lynx and a canadian lynx at the sanctuary already, they are beautiful cats.

  • awesome! =] Where are you guys located?

  • We are in Tampa Florida :)

  • ah nice. I live all the way up in Indiana. Might be hard for me to come visit. haha

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks for posting this vid. Actually just found about these animals´ existence. Weird, yet kind of cool to watch, can´´t help that. Same time a sence of unwanted human interference in nature.

Do you guys have any (evolutionary-biological) theory why liger males are sterile?

Keep it up, informing the public like this.

  • Thanks, glad you learnt about theses animals and why they shouldn't be bred. We will keep it up :)

  • This is nice... i've been looking at the breeding videos... sucks that these animals are not in the wild...I wonder if They would be the real kings of the jungle if they were in shape and able move as their parents... Too docile they seem to be.

  • Ligers in the wild would be a very bad thing, they would be very impressive but simply do not belong in the wild and the whole balance of ecosystems would be impacted by their presence.

  • I'm extremely impressed with your persistence on these replies. You are truly dedicated to educating the world through their curiosities. People like you go very far in life, because your impact is well beyond your own gain. Great job and keep it up! Excellent knowledge here :)

  • Thanks for the comment! We will definitely keep it up :)

  • no problem i think u guys are doign a great thing.

  • im against this. much abuse comes out of breeding ligers. ppl shouldnt even create these animals. they suffer from being confuesed and depressin and many are forced to do things, so breeders make money. then when they get to big, theyll kill thhem. plz tspread the word and try to stop the liger breeding

  • Thanks for commenting! :)

  • We need to stop Liger mistreatment, not breeding... please?

  • We definitely do, we are trying our best and with Freckles now on the tour path we can educate more people about ligers, thanks for watching!

  • Sweet!

  • are ligers infertile?

  • Male ligers are sterile, but some female ligers have been able to breed successfully :)

  • a very beautiful animal indeed, it seems that Femal Ligers don't have Mane, am I right? but are you aginst the breed of Ligers?

  • Yes you're right, Freckles does have sprigs of mane, a lot of male ligers don't have a mane also. We are definitely against the breeding of ligers, they are not meant to exist and suffer from many health problems. The people who breed these cats don't care about animal welfare they just want to make money :(

  • So if the liger is a combynatyions of too wild cat if they were realise they cant surviver in any of the lions or tigers habitats? so im rithg or grong

  • why you guys don't make forums , i would spam it up with questions as i am cats freak

  • We have a site called BigCatChat*com where people can post videos and discuss different topics, check it out :)

  • what if liger mated with lion would he cause lion or genatic fix?

  • That would create a li-liger :)

  • i don't think so as liger == 50% Tiger + 50%
