@kingLorshi Periphery , Tesseract and Circles have vocals but other bands such as animals as leaders don't but honestly they are all equally epic ( tessract more but thats just my bias :P)
This guy, this album is something truly magical. I can listen to it A LOT. Over and over again...till death tears us apart. Hope to see something new from this guy soon. If anyone have some news, please tell
As sure as I am that some people will disagree with Me, I am also sure that some people will agree with Me that parts of this sound very Chimp Spanner-esque.
YEAH TAHTS PROGRESSIVE ELEMENTS I RECOGNIZE! sorry but in other djent bands I dont see anything progressive. any more bands that are very similar to this? awesome!!!
and Keshav Dhar of "Skyharbor" (earlier known as Hydrodjent)
Both from India. Skyharbor's debut album also features Daniel Tompkins (TesseracT) and Marty Friedman (Megadeth). Do check them out and give me a reply :)
@averylopez1 Tosin is a fucking genius, no doubt. But if you like AAL's music you'll love the two asian projects I mentioned earlier. Skyharbor ( earlier Hydrodjent) and Amogh Symphony. Amazing guitar skills, specially Amogh Symphony.
btw. I don't fully understand why there is so much hatetress about all subject and about. I mean come on ppl, we are are the same the descendants of the Earth, and wake up please , there i s a common goal to achieve, to be a better human being. To achieve ascension...If not, why is the reason to live?
@VincentFinn repetitive riffs are a characteristic of "post-metal," the metal equivalent of post-rock. The emphases in post-metal are emotional delivery and structural evolution, rather than forward energy and melody. Popular post-metal bands are Pelican, Isis, Russian Circles, and Red Sparowes (dare I say Cloudkicker?...). I haven't listened to enough of Gru's work to say if it is or isn't post-metal. I think djent/prog metal bands tend to have a post-metal aesthetic, if not hardcore or thrash.
@jsteele07189 wow you really got the gist there! However that's for the newish prog metal bands. And they often add some atmospheric/ambient stuff which is usually responsible for the repetitiveness.
@jsteele07189 i couldnt agree with you more. djent/prog is just another way for most blockheads to
talk up there metal, due to the fact it will have faster and more technical runs on the leed instrument.
well i break this shit down and to me its like one big turd posing as a shnitzel.
Prog is still untouched since the 1960's to the 1980's. and incase most die hard metal fans havent realised, your music gets categorized as hardrock./metal in 95 percent of cd stores rofl.
@jsteele07189 yeah I concur with that analysis from my feeling and experience, at least. this does not sounds like periphery at all, at the least, except songs like "strizzwald" or "coldemark". this does remind me of post metal, albeit with these djenty distortion.
this is the type of metal i dig. odd time signatures and all that jazz is cool, but i can really feel the grove in this. it kind of reminds me of chimp spanners stuff without the dissonance.
Getting lost in this; Deep swathes of sound, soothingly heavy. I'm just going to float away in this. Wielding sound like a weapon pointed straight at me--I'm just struck by this. No need to label, no need to categorize, quantitatively assess, or footnote--just a desire to listen.
this is dream theater with the progressive element turned up a little with some of the animals as leaders atmospherics and ambiances i think... the best mix ever??
I really fail to hear how this is "Djent" ....Doesn't seem to be doing the whole Meshuggah ripoff thing but just the usual progressive metal style of chugging that was done by bands like Dream theater long ago.
@Spydrfish It's Djent because of tone and guitar composition. It's also becoming a technique in itself rather than just the composition of the song. If you can't hear it, maybe you need to start looking at it a different way. Djent has always taken from prog. Always. Also, Djent has more ambience in it.
@Spydrfish "Djent" is extremely open to interpretation, it's produced a lot like AAL and Periphery and other such bands, as well as the incorporated use of extended-range guitars, with some ambient vibe. That's pretty much the Djent sound.
@rockster07 I've found out that it's become a lot broader than when I last checked some Djent compilation videos, where they were basically all meshuggah like in style. Hearing Chimp Spanner and some other bands I can see how this fits in.
im falling out of love with metal for some reason, i just hope this can bring me back to my senses, because i really enjoyed this. its the first 'metal' song ive listened too all the way through for a couple of days now.
@milkterd12 I wish I could answer unfortunately my english is so bad I just say it's about great music, no matter metal not metal, it is something above and beyond all boundaries.
