  • Obscura beat ya to the punch

  • Ive never heard guitar riffs such as these ... they are epic

  • Because the album title Cosmogenesis wasn't already taken, you know, definitely not by Obscura.

  • holy fuck

  • I like to think this is the music they play in heaven.

  • I'm just gonna go ahead and say it.. this song needs to be in Guitar Hero.

  • The album cover looks like the anti AAL cover

  • What's djent metal?

  • @Linkerner Progressive Metal

  • @Dranzer151 Nope.

  • @Linkerner It's a guitar playing style, progressive metal spin-off genre thing :)

  • @Linkerner It's a type of progressive metal - an onomatopoeia for the sound made when using a certain picking style, which was begun by Meshuggah.

  • If you like this, check out George Hayduk's album, Skylines. more on the slow side, but still good!

  • dobra robota chłopcy:) pozdrawiam

  • Hm... why does it show only the amount of times I've viewed this video?

  • their like AAL, well similar and their logo looks similar their like the alternate AAL

  • This is beautiful...

  • Why I need drugs!!? I have this!!!

  • Inspiring

  • Very impressive, but most of all, very beautiful music!!! Feel free to check out Mystic on my channel for some atmospheric metal as well

  • Honestly, the stuff most people listen to that gets more views isn't as good as this. This deserves more, it's awesome.

Is Djent Metal usually just instrumental metal or what? I'm sort of new so can someone clarify?

  • @kingLorshi Periphery , Tesseract and Circles have vocals but other bands such as animals as leaders don't but honestly they are all equally epic ( tessract more but thats just my bias :P)

  • WOW!

  • i really dont want to listen to anything else but this for the forseeable future!

  • God! I want the tab of this f****n song!

  • Looo kurawa !

  • As sure as I am that some people will disagree with Me, I am also sure that some people will agree with Me that parts of this sound very Chimp Spanner-esque.

  • GEEKY

  • YEAH TAHTS PROGRESSIVE ELEMENTS I RECOGNIZE! sorry but in other djent bands I dont see anything progressive. any more bands that are very similar to this? awesome!!!

  • @PewPewPlasmagun hey dude! Im working on a EP check out my song on my channel. Its progy-fusion-djenty (The Other Left) ;-)

    Cheers

  • @PewPewPlasmagun try with Karnivool.. :) you'll probably like them.

  • This is a pure art. Thank God for music.

  • @peterwhitish god has nothing to do with it in fact there is no fuckin God.It's because of ingeniousity and talent of few outstanding people.

  • buena banda!!!!!!

  • Zajebiste! Hail!

  • Just fuckin' amazing...

  • wah guru wah

  • He is an amazing artist, I would gladly pay to get this!

  • sounds great

  • The guitarist must be a God of some sort. Ridiculous talent...

  • @disfigured75 I heard this is a one man band... o.0

  • @R0bbH1mself Yeah I figured out his name too. Piotrek Gruszka... Guy has ridiculous talent O:

  • @disfigured75 It must be asian... if you find a nice guitar player, there is always an asian who does it better

  • @kronos213 Name one Asian who's better than this guy.

    6_6

  • @disfigured75 One? I'll name you two.

Vishal J Singh of "Amogh Symphony"

and Keshav Dhar of "Skyharbor" (earlier known as Hydrodjent)

Both from India. Skyharbor's debut album also features Daniel Tompkins (TesseracT) and Marty Friedman (Megadeth). Do check them out and give me a reply :)

  • @koolsaqib @disfigured75 SUCK THAT!

  • Comment removed

  • @koolsaqib You're kidding right? Keshav Dhar is nowhere near Tosin man. Vishal yes to an extent. But he makes completely different music

  • @Bleed2510 That's true, I didn't even compare them, just said if he likes Tosin's work he may also like the Keshav and Vishal.

  • @kronos213 i doubt theres an asian who can play guitar better than Tosin Abasi

  • @averylopez1 Dude... it is an fisics law, you dont want to mess with the fisics

  • @averylopez1 Tosin is a fucking genius, no doubt. But if you like AAL's music you'll love the two asian projects I mentioned earlier. Skyharbor ( earlier Hydrodjent) and Amogh Symphony. Amazing guitar skills, specially Amogh Symphony.

  • that build up starting at 2:24 is incredible. this guy has a different style than AAL. much more melodic.

  • The pictures does kinda look likes it's moving

  • I would love to like this song, but it has exactly 420 likes so i just couldn't ruin it!

  • something I don't like in those progressive and djent rock, is that sometimes the riffs are too repetitive

  • @VincentFinn repetitive riffs are a characteristic of "post-metal," the metal equivalent of post-rock. The emphases in post-metal are emotional delivery and structural evolution, rather than forward energy and melody. Popular post-metal bands are Pelican, Isis, Russian Circles, and Red Sparowes (dare I say Cloudkicker?...). I haven't listened to enough of Gru's work to say if it is or isn't post-metal. I think djent/prog metal bands tend to have a post-metal aesthetic, if not hardcore or thrash.

  • @jsteele07189 uow

  • @VincentFinn I don't understand

  • @jsteele07189 wow you really got the gist there! However that's for the newish prog metal bands. And they often add some atmospheric/ambient stuff which is usually responsible for the repetitiveness.

  • @jsteele07189 i couldnt agree with you more. djent/prog is just another way for most blockheads to

talk up there metal, due to the fact it will have faster and more technical runs on the leed instrument.

well i break this shit down and to me its like one big turd posing as a shnitzel.

Prog is still untouched since the 1960's to the 1980's. and incase most die hard metal fans havent realised, your music gets categorized as hardrock./metal in 95 percent of cd stores rofl.

  • @noobovic Couldn't have said it better myself

  • @jsteele07189 yeah I concur with that analysis from my feeling and experience, at least. this does not sounds like periphery at all, at the least, except songs like "strizzwald" or "coldemark". this does remind me of post metal, albeit with these djenty distortion.

  • @jsteele07189 post metal is NEUROSIS

  • @jsteele07189 Nicely Said

  • @NebuliNebula thanks!

  • @jsteele07189 Don't forget Rosetta and Mouth of the Atchitect!

  • This shit is beautiful.

  • fuck that beautiful band!! I love the low harmonious and melodic ... very well like "Animals As Leaders"

  • Fans of GRU check out the solo prog project An Amber Echo!

  • Agroooovement

  • Good music.

  • amazing

  • I think this song takes the GRU cake.

  • is it just me or is the picture moving?

  • proud of them(unlike riverside)

  • look up Piotrek Gruszka

that is the true identity of Gru

  • Djent is from another world.

  • a MASTERPIECE that makes my mind TOTALLY blown away and my brain flew away somewhere ELSE !

  • Comment removed

  • awesome band dudes! epic sound! and thanks for the free download!!! : D

  • love the bass

  • cześć btw cheers from Sweden ;)

  • It's reversed and opposite - location and colour (yellow-blue)

  • What'd Djent?

  • @AgentFour term originally to describe the band Meshuggah. The gods of metal

  • This song is FUCKS FROM HELL to play on bass...

  • I love the feeling of happiness that gives this band.

  • @MrBlakkswan wut

  • @MrBlakkswan that gives this band... what? a blowjob?

  • @godthegourd yeah man, similar to that lol >.<

  • The artwork, on distance, reminds me of Scar Symmetry. As does the albums name, as Scar Symmetry's is Morphogenesis : P

  • @Pagnah Actually, that's the first songs name. Holographic Universe is the albums name =P

  • love djent with clean vox? check HILLVALLEY watch?v=JOGRe1acJuI

  • Does anyone know the glitchy white noise effect that is used in 0:32 ??

  • Comment removed

  • best music comings from Poland..

  • listened to this while high... wordless

  • this is metal fusion but not djent. too much melodic for djent. djent is almost only open string grooves...

  • Oh my Gru that was a good'un.

  • I saw this link after listening to animals as leaders, my god gru is sick..

  • this is the type of metal i dig. odd time signatures and all that jazz is cool, but i can really feel the grove in this. it kind of reminds me of chimp spanners stuff without the dissonance.

  • omg listened to this while playing portal 2, amazing

  • Man that album cover looks like Scar Symmetry's holographic universe album. Also the first song in that album is called cosmogenesis 0.0

    Coincidence?

  • @Sertex47

The first song on Holographic Universe is "Morphogenesis" but you have a point about the album cover. Very similar indeed.

  • Getting lost in this; Deep swathes of sound, soothingly heavy. I'm just going to float away in this. Wielding sound like a weapon pointed straight at me--I'm just struck by this. No need to label, no need to categorize, quantitatively assess, or footnote--just a desire to listen.

High doesn't describe what this makes me.

  • This is pure Virtuosity! Fantastic album

  • Amazing music man, ty so much for being awesome...Gruve is what is shall now be called!

  • this is dream theater with the progressive element turned up a little with some of the animals as leaders atmospherics and ambiances i think... the best mix ever??

  • Obscura also has a Cosmogenesis album, though I'm sure this point has already been beaten to death.

  • @milesnderp625 Go see the description ;)

  • The artwork is a reverse of Animals as leaders!

  • @OppositeEquilibrium Problem is, who cares.

  • @OppositeEquilibrium exactly what i was thinking of when i clicked this.....

  • I really fail to hear how this is "Djent" ....Doesn't seem to be doing the whole Meshuggah ripoff thing but just the usual progressive metal style of chugging that was done by bands like Dream theater long ago.

  • @Spydrfish It's Djent because of tone and guitar composition. It's also becoming a technique in itself rather than just the composition of the song. If you can't hear it, maybe you need to start looking at it a different way. Djent has always taken from prog. Always. Also, Djent has more ambience in it.

  • @Spydrfish "Djent" is extremely open to interpretation, it's produced a lot like AAL and Periphery and other such bands, as well as the incorporated use of extended-range guitars, with some ambient vibe. That's pretty much the Djent sound.

  • @rockster07 I've found out that it's become a lot broader than when I last checked some Djent compilation videos, where they were basically all meshuggah like in style. Hearing Chimp Spanner and some other bands I can see how this fits in.

  • Just found these guys, they rule!

  • ok yea im a new fan of this and djent

  • @mortedabizerra not rly I agree with dickcheese nu-metal is bullshit.

  • wow, great song!

  • First time I've ever heard these guys. Very sweet solos and atmosphere 8.7/10

  • @blakfloyd

Guys? I think you mean this is just one guy =3

  • @MyMayPeX

Actually I meant "guys" since I was unaware at the time that it was apparently just one person but thanks just the same for the clarification :)

  • 1 person that disliked is obviously human.

  • im falling out of love with metal for some reason, i just hope this can bring me back to my senses, because i really enjoyed this. its the first 'metal' song ive listened too all the way through for a couple of days now.

  • @milkterd12 I wish I could answer unfortunately my english is so bad I just say it's about great music, no matter metal not metal, it is something above and beyond all boundaries.

  • Album artwork looks like Animals as Leaders'

  • Totally reminds me of Division By Zero, which happen to be polish, too.

  • Obscura lol

  • @LepraLord1 That was the first thing I noticed. "Cosmogenesis"

  • new metal sounds meets ambient/electronica, KOOL!

  • Bulb/Misha started a revolution...

  • This sounds like Dream Theater and another metal core band playing together.

    LIKE IT! :D

  • @TheEnigmaticForm11 thanks for posting another great Djent band! However I tried to look up for Gru's torrents or mp3 at the internet and I found nothing. Where can I download these songs?

  • @thiago88smart grumusic.bandcamp.com

  • @TheEnigmaticForm11 Am I missing the download link on that page? I WANT TO PAY MONEY FOR THIS, HOW DO I DO IT??

  • @Deimares Well I don't where you can buy their music, but I got a free download link in the description of the video! Hope it helps!

  • @Deimares They are giving it away for free on their website, which is amazingly generous and a move that a lesser band would suffer heavily for.

  • @Deimares grumusic.bandcamp.com

  • @thiago88smart This is progressive.

  • Wow. Now this is MY type of music. This is holy and beautiful. Complex and devastating. The kind of thing that comes in, destroys listeners, and rebuilds them in just about five minutes.

Mix could be a lot better but I'm touched by the feeling behind the writing.

It's like metal has come full circle and been reborn under a new name:

"I am Djent. Son of metal. King of kings. Bow before me."

  • @toddmfay You comment is majestic. You are a gentleman and a scholar.

  • u guys would like N O V A the digital album is free check it out.

novashreds dot com <--youtube cockblock u know what to do.

  • the cover art has a strong resemblance to the art from AAL's album

  • Where can I buy this?!

  • @lookitztyrant I have no idea, But you can download it free from bandcamp.com (which isn't stealing because they put it on there for free) just go to the site, type in Gru, or cosmogenesis and you should find it. You should also check out cloudkicker, andother awesome djent band that you can find on Bandcamp

  • indeed good tune, like it alot

  • I'm getting kind of sick of djent. I mean sure, it's good, but...eh. It gets boring fast.

In the last few years thousands of djeneric bands have popped up and....meh.

  • @BuiikiKaesu69

Pics or it didn't happen. The more djent I hear, the more complete and awesome I get.

  • @HaloDiablo Just go on any djent fan page on facebook and you'll find them posting a ridiculous amount of djent bands that no one will ever care about. And they all sound the same.

  • @HaloDiablo @BuiikiKaesu69 Djent is the new dubstep with every kid wanting to play it so they stick to the generic style.

  • @ryder187mac Yea, I know, but metal has always been a big part of my life, ever since kindergarden.

  • @HaloDiablo Branch out dude... metal isn't everything, there's a ton of interesting music out there.
