Hi, that's sweet! Ive been looking for a muzzle my dog can have treats through. If you could tell me the brand of Hagrid's muzzle that would be wonderful.
Although all dogs are different, generally the Black Russian Terrier is fine in a situation with groups of people (sometimes better than if there was one single person) They are naturally protective of their owners, so people should use common sense when patting ANY strange dog by asking the owners permission first.
yea i totally understand that. but, how about lets say a kid just walks up and starts petting him? could it be dangerous?
so, if just a random person walks up to you, does taht mean the dog might bite?
how do they do in a home enviroment?
lets say a i invite a friend over, how will the dog react? what i mean is that, is he going to bite him as soon as he steps in my frontyard?or something like that.
the dog will do everything to stop the stranger if the owner is not around. If the owner is there, the dog will observe owner's reactions, who can also control the situation. It is trainable.
However, the guest will remain only guest and if he/she steps out, won't be allowed back in :).
it will take a few visits and some work to have the dog accept a person.
this is natural and desirable quality of a guard dog.
I do trust these dogs. I had one. They love kids and they never hurt them. A brt never bites if you don't do any harm to it. They bite when a man tells them to bite or when another dog appears so as geckomom74 said they protect ther owners. Their huge plus is that everybody's scared of this dog only coz brt looks massive and lil dangerous but it's very kind dog I would say lol :D and in public but beware when 2 dogs meet then you should hold brt tight :D lol
Hagrid is muzzle trained because in certain situations a muzzle is required. For instance, the vet requires a muzzle for any invasive procedure, and the one they use is a cloth one that restricts movement of the jaw. This wire basket muzzle is used by the SPCA, it allows for feeding treats, drinking, and natural panting. This video was when we first started training with it. He actually enjoys putting it on as it is a big treat machine!

I am in the process of correcting some of my dog's behavior problems, and I HATE when people do not ask before reaching for her.
