  • Great!!!

  • God I loved Chase!

  • my favorite Chase tune. ya...

  • I don't play trumpet. Consequently, I don't care who has the biggest range, plays the most notes per second, or even the widest intervals. Chase wasn't just great because Bill was a virtuouso player. They were great because the tunes and the arrangements were also great. This music serves as a sad reminder of just what a tragic joke the current music industry is.

  • @Modes9 the music industry is bad because about 90% of it is computer generated

  • God i love Bill Chase. His arrangements are amazing and his high note register is just...well, just listen to any of his songs. I'm honestly not sure, because i'm an idiot when it comes to time and i didnt feel like researching....but i THINK he was a lead player in Maynard's band at a point. at least, theres a video with a player that looks like him lol

  • @saxdrummer92 He did play with Maynard for a short time, but the person you probably saw that looks a lot like him is Lin Biviano. You can see Lin playing lead with Maynard if you check out the live recording of Shaft on you tube. Strong resemblance.

  • As a current 51yr old jazz musician, (still have fairly decent lead chops to GG even w. fatigued chops), this guys' high-note-energy & arranging ability is unequaled to anything existing today, even Arturo & Cat And., although they come close.

I've got to watch myself, I'm also a bird-brain, an AOPA member for 18 yrs, but am also a CPA member (chicken pilots' association) & recovering alkie.

  • laff! ....absolutely flying in the face of PC/Feminist sensibilities...

    Great stuff.

  • I think I want to have the children of the trumpet squealer at 2:40.

Wish he'd pulled it up that high in the studio version.

  • @trumpetgirl2008 have you heard anything else by Chase?

  • @mynamisdan Nope, I heard about this song from my mother, who heard it on the radio when it first came out and loved it. I plan to check out their other stuff though when I have more time.

  • @trumpetgirl2008 - Chase was a beast. Both the primary lead player and primary soloist of the group. He'd been in demand for years as a powerhouse lead player in Vegas and various groups such as Woody Herman's band. Not to mention his superb arranging skills. When writing he certainly didn't take it easy on himself.

  • Yeah cheers pancho for postin these rareities of a great band. waited years to see these.

  • this is epic music

  • Reminds me of Chigago the band not the city!

  • He took on rock and roll with the best musicians in the world. He was one of the best. So sad he coudn't finish the job.

  • These guys played at my HS Chambersburg PA and Bill did a workshop with our band. I was blown away for a couple of hours in that high register of his. Man, those were some bitchin' ass JAZZ days. I miss em!

  • Brings back a lotta memories man!! I'm a trumpet player and always enjoyed his music....Thanks a Million Pancho!!

  • The playing is pretty loose but they look like they're having a good time and I bet the audience was too. Miss ya Bill!

  • The women's libbers must have had their grandma panties in a bunch over this.

  • Pancho, Thank you so much! These guys were master musicians and the best band, ever! I never got to see them play. What a great gift to us all.

  • Yeah, that's what I was gonna say.

  • I wish they had a recording of Open up Wide, Get It On and Cronus. I love Bill's music. I'm 15 and I grew up listening to him lol. Inspired me to be a trupet player =]

  • Haha well nevermind I literally just saw a Get It On video of Chase right after I pressed Submit lol.

  • 2:40 = Chase money shot!

  • Wow....What a thrill! I've listen to Bill Chase since the 70's and have NEVER actually seen him play. Pancho, thanks for posting.

Although he is obviously high as a kite, he plays with such power and ease. It seems his lip is about to fall off after each segment.

What a shame to have lost him at such an early age. He was destined to be Maynard's legacy.

  • I don´t know any other group which presents word "jazzrock" better....if anyone knows, give me advice

  • Why have I the feeling, that this group doesn´t have the publicity which it deserves. They should stand in music stores next to Queen or James Brown Best of´s...It was total coinsidence, that I found their CD in my sister´s room and it was first time I heard of them...

  • Thank you for posting this. I'm 47 and youtube has offered the first time for me to see this group performing live. For folks like me, this is no less than a small miracle. Don't f*ck it up, kids...

  • I was only 8 then. I can only imagine this gives us almost no idea of the sound pressure and impact the band had live. Thanks for posting though!

  • spettacolo

  • I'd love to see a live version of the Ennea stuff, I can never decide if I like Kronos, Zeus or Hades the best!

  • dude Aphrodite all the way, through both PARTS

also, i feel that Hades is the coolest witht the awsome dum and bass duet, unless im mistaken

  • Hey, and what about Woman of the dark? I think, it´s his best solo there, for me definetly the most genial solo for four trumpets ever made by human.........maybe one day :´(

  • Woman of the Dark...yeah! Love how the trumpets seem to "chase" each other during the solos.

  • Exactly!!:)

  • Yes! Thank!

  • This is awesome I've been hoping there was video of Chase on youtube! I love these guys and am hoping for Handbags and Gladrags, Open up Wide and Get it on in the Morning to get posted. Never heard this before or saw any video of them. So sad that most/all of band got killed in a plane crash in the 70's.

  • sick jackets

  • iforgotmyusername123, nice name. Can't imagine how you got it. But you are completely right. Open up Wide and Get it On. Those would of been good to see.

  • where did you find this? Peterik still looks that good. Thanks so much, This is great memories. Boy are we getting old.

  • すごい

  • Thanks so much for finally posting some Chase videos! I would really like to see Open Up Wide and Get It On.

  • Jim Peterik was the composer -- and lead singer on -- "Vehicle" from Ides of March

  • Peterik also went on to co-found and write

most of the big songs for the band Survivor.

  • Many thanks for posting. This takes me back to early 80s high school stage band days! Please post more if you have them!

  • gracias panchopistolas22
