I used to smoke for six years, then when I start gym I simply stopped smoking. I just wanted, and did. I used to smoke for six years, then when I start gym I simply stopped smoking. I just wanted, and did. Before this, I knew all the bad things a cigarette causes, I knew, and I liked it, I liked cigarettes, cigars, I just liked to smoke, a millenial habit. And now that I´ve stopped I can tell you because I´ve been on both sides. 90% of the smokers smokes because they want to, consensually with all the harm the cigarette can do. Do you know what the best thing to do if you want to smoke? Grow your own. The US's recent tobacco law H.R. 1256 does not deny you from being able to grow your own. It will smell better, it will be yours so you know what's in it, and genetics has a lot to do whether the carcinogen in it affects you or not. Some people smoke a couple years and get cancer. Some smoke like smokestacks and live till they're 100. GENETICS! Many people have poor genetics so I'm not encouraging smoking.

I do not believe that cigarettes should be banned. It doesnt matter if it is harmful or not, because it is a personal choice. What needs to happen is there needs to be a source of unbiased information about drugs, cigarettes, and alcohol, and people should make their decisions from that. Plus if cigarettes are banned, its going to be the same situation as prohibition in the United States in the mid and late 1920's.

RR of 1.14 is a very weak correlation, for most things it takes an RR of 2 to be considered a potential risk, and an RR of 3 to be considered a real risk.
Cigarette smoke is not different than BBQ smoke, yet few people propose such draconian measures to protect people from BBQ.
Smokers pay enough in taxes, perhaps the money would be best spent giving smokers a safe comfortable place to smoke where they would not bother non-smokers. Common courtesy is asking a bit much, I suppose.

as far as common courtesy goes ive made an effort to request means of shelter for smokers at my college but it seems that no-one is interested, no-one cares about smokers appart from other smokers and this new anti-smoking campaign is doing nothing but segregate people.

This happened at our college too. It was refused because the local townships had all made smoking illegal in public areas to include businesses, though, so the Univerities had to follow suit.
Smoking will become like illegal drugs if made illegal. They'll just sell it real expensive and start a big cartel on it. It's not that hard to grow it.

People can smoke all they want, I don't care. But as soon as the smoke from your cigarette enters my nostrils, you should be charged for assault and imprisoned IMO.

I have quit smoking, i have smoked for a few years now. I am not proud of it, it is a filthy habbit, and i am using my electronic cigarette 'look them up on youtube' which is the worlds best stop smoking device, but i will say, i am fed up of people saying smokers are filthy and stereotype people who smoke.
Well, Che Guevara, Winston Churchill, John Lennon, , and many others were all smokers, and are these low profile people, NO! they have changed the world

Ugh, spam. If you are using it, then its NOT a stop smoking device. Also, cold turkey is the best "device" to quit. Problem is, cold turkey doesn't charge. Che Geuvara, Chruchill, and Lennon were all duped into thinking smoking was fine and non-addictive. They were lied to.
