This piece is intended to be played a lightning speed.. He's too slow, sounds like a rehearsal practice more than a performance...careful... I much prefer Lisitsa's version
The entire thing is a masterful performance, but the last minute is like a godlike! I am bummed they didn't show his hands 4:13-4:20, that is my favorite part of the song.
How do you know that it wasn't deliberate on his part? I've never heard any concert musician play entirely error free. Adam is a master of all Liszt compositions...and he's known to make some "mondifications" on the fly. I find his playing to be very exhilarating.
A girl named Ashly Kingsworth was looking for down a well and a ghost pushed her down the well. now that you read this you must Copy and Paste to 2 Other Video's or else tonight at 12:00
she will stand at the end of you're bed and pull you down the well she died in"
This is the best performance of La Campanella on Youtube. Kissin rushes through the piece, making too many mistakes. Yundi Li plays it great, but what makes Adam Gyorgy's the best is the incredibly strong finish. Beautiful.
Really? That is surprising because it certainly outclasses the others and I can't detect a single mistake, (as opposed to Rubinstein's, Kissin's, or Li.)
Like my statement qualifies it as such, but this performance speaks for itself... AMAZING. I like how he didn't really rush the music like so many others seem to do... I wonder how Liszt himself played it.... wish I could go back in time...
It is sort of hard for one to realize that when one says a particular rendition of a piece is the best, they have to recognize that ones it would have to compare to. Gyorgy has better tone color than Yundi Li and doesn't make his blunders. Gyorgy has better tone color, a more even tempo, and doesn't make nearly as many mistakes, (if any), as Kissin did. Other than that, he just seems to put more emotion in this piece than any other rendition that I've heard or seen.
I'm going as far as anyone can go on commenting on ANY pianist that ever existed on this planet. This man is THE MOST talented pianist God EVER created. Having said that...please provide me a link to prove me wrong here. I am dumbfounded by this young mans extraordinary gift. It's almost unbelievable!
I like this version, even though it's not my favorite. I find this pianist to be the most articulate of all I've heard, clearest staccato that is caused by lifting each finger a long way. Not my favorite but very good, definitely world class level.
Amazing performance! I didn't realize it was "live" until the end which makes it even way more impressive as any nerves at all can shatter a piece as difficult and exposed as this.
Think it is a bit funny all these people asking how long would take to learn a piece like this. Question is very subjective and also depends on how well you expect to play it! In order to play as well as this would take both several years of serious study and a lot of serious talent.
yea.. i wanted to play this.. this is my 4th year playing piano with no teacher lol... just some help on sight reading (i suck on theory and technique) so i decided to play 20 pieces.. lol and leave this for like the 100th.. cuz its just ridiculous. He could've pushed himself at the end.. by just a millionth of a second.. and this would've been the best i've ever heard.
depends on how long you practice(ed)I think you should have minimum ~3 years (personally its my 10th now ^^) but that only if you practice 1-2 hours daily. The campanella itsself took me 3 months to my aim with practicing 3-4 hours on average..
thats the sort of pompous attitude that gives classical music such an undeserved reputation as being some sort of 'higher art' only accessible to the 'culturally refined' and puts off many young people who could actually get enjoyment from it.
wow, such clarity in his playing, yes the tempo was a bit slow but hey, this is the first time I get to hear every single note, maybe this is the correct tempo for campanella. I think I'll kidnap this guy and have him play this for me every day.
very musical, and extremely accurate, however his speed is just a bit too slow, but i would rather have him play it accurately rather than quick and mistakes everywhere. Still the Kissin recording is my favorite so far.
Gyorgy's interpretation of this piece is much more interesting and clean. I performed this piece in college so I've heard it 'a few' times and this one is so much more fun to listen to than the other two. Just my opinion. You're definitely entitled to yours as well....
