choi came back strong in that first round after switching to ST Ryu. watson was clearly not prepared for alot of that stuff choi threw at him.

too bad in the second and third rounds watson figured him out and redominated.

Not sure why Choi went with ST Ryu, HF Ryu does just about everything better except no super and hard DP isn't a one hit knockdown. HF Ryu definitely has faster fb release/recovery, almost as good as CE and SSF2 Sagat.

Great Guile charge by Mike at the end of round 1 to get the flash kick out! Good, patient play by Mike, not a lot of jump in's on Ryu. That's called disciplined Guile playing against Ryu.

Insults aside, that only really works when Ryu is ahead on life. A lot of time Watson was up, which means throwing fbs from far away isn't going to help. Watson will stop them with booms and neutral/back jump over them when necessary.

The majority of the time, 60+ percent Ryu was just getting smacked out of the air.

Why jump in against someone who has an insane anti-air? It's like trying to out grapple Zangief, you're just gonna take way more damage then you do.

Maybe against ST Guile, but CE Guile has enough range with low forward to deal with a turtling Ryu as well as his backhand in CE can also allow charging so he can rifle of s.booms all day in a corner to keep adv.

He can throw sonic booms all day, unlike Guile Ryu has a super projectile and and can fire those off for chip/ crushing a sonic boom for damage.

I am not saying it's an instant win for Ryu, it's just jumping in cost him 70% or more life befor ehe got to do anything.

This isn't 3rd strike where you can empty jump in and parry, getting caught in the air is a big deal.

The old Ryu voice from World Warrior, CE, and Hyper Fighting is low in pitch like you hear in this vid, although this game is Hyper SF2 Anniversary.

Super SF2 and Super Turbo had a newer voice for Ryu which was more high pitched.

just to let you guys know this is a pretty even match. ryu can zone out guile pretty good and get him in the corner and chip him very easily. john and i know each others game from playing over the years so it might seem boring. the reason he threw supers was in anticipation of me sticking out a move where as i got a bit lucky and decided to block. ryu charges meter very quickly so its not that big a deal.

Gracie is correct, CE. Guile is arguably Top 4 in AE, along with CE Ryu, CE Dictator, and CE Sagat.

ST. Ryu definitely has a disadvantage up against CE. Guile, simply because he is not as powerful as CE. Ryu in AE.

CE. Guile when played right, has almost no weaknesses besides a few character match ups. His damage, SB, zoning and spacing game is super powerful, anyone who's seen CE back in the days will know how beastly CE. Guile is.
