Ludwig van Beethoven: Leonore Overture N° 3

Always struck me more as a compressed symphony than overture. Mysterious, organic, bursting, original, and oh yes an otherworldly coda. So many performances and recordings oppress the drums and brass especially, but the conductor here cleverly uncorks 'em!

My very favourite of all overtures ever written - the finale is literally electrifying, Ludwig at the top of his game!

I have a suspicion that there is a lot more going on music-wise in Eastern Europe these days, much as there was at the time of LvB. This conductor, who I didn't know about, conducts this piece admirably. Of course, the musicians are mostly those who studied under those horribly cultured times of communism. As they are in most of Eastern Europe.

En este caso Coyfield facilita el seguimiento de la obra pues sus indicaciones van al compas de la musica.Otros directores prefieren enfatizar la calidad de la interpretacion ,aunque la visualizacion de la conduccion no facilite al publico el seguimiento.

This is a wonderful piece by Beethoven. it's too bad that it's overshadowed by some of his other works.
