Games designers need to take more risks, all the big games this season have let me down in different degrees, don't know if im just letting nostalgia cloud my judgement but it seems nothing that comes out anymore really moves me like the old titles.
@otester OK I agree with the DX2 statement, but DX:HR I feel is true to the original game and has the same vibe as it, and the reason why DX:HR gets high praise from alot of people including the big name reviewers is because it is great, including on the PC so dont blame the console people.
Also ignore "big name reviewers", they get paid off, reason why I downloaded and didn't buy the game was because the developers said 9/10 for pre-review or no more pre-releases for you.
@otester Well even people in general liked the game including me, and you know what they say majority rules, its cause of that reason I got the game in the first place, but whatever your opinion is yours and mine is mine.
@hellomoto75 You're crazy. Human Revolution was an amazing game, and it's very much like the original Deus Ex. The only odd part of it that didn't feel like Deus Ex were the boss battles, which makes up a tiny part of the entire game.
@otester And just because the ''build quality'' is very high doesn't mean the gameplay is BAD either. The Human Revolution gameplay is almost exactly like the original Deus Ex, except with more stealth. The only thing that's much better in the original is the health system.
This is good, but only form 2:15 onwards, there it starts sounding very DX HR-ish, with a hint of DXclassic.
When I clicked the link from the Eidos forum, I was hoping to hear the classic DX tune remade with the style of HR. Would you consider making one like that? I was kinda let down when the new composer didn't do that for HR
Another thing, the tingling-'star-shimmer' sounds, they're out of place. But that choir is awesome and epic sounding.
Have you ever noticed the connection between deus ex 1 and matrix (the first movie). At the end of matrix Neo (right after he talks into the telephone) he looks up and flys away. This looks exactly like JC on the cover of Deus Ex 1
@QRAPGaming There's an interview with the game's project leader. His name escapes me right now but he said a lot of the designs, characters and outfits were influenced by the Matrix and Riddick
You sure have your nostalgia goggles on to tight.
You sound like one of those wankers who cant accept a sequel having stuff better than the original. DX3 theme is as awesome as the first one. And you hear the original theme after the credits.
btw i also dont like adam jensen too much... but i guess it makes some sense, since hes been augmented after being human, where JC was like made that way. ... JC is like badass nothing bothers him super soldier, adam jenson is sorta wussy the way he talks at times. :P
@blackknightkanos yeah i get that, i just mean, i dunno about you but i played Deus Ex 1 when it was new, and it was a super awesome badass game.... it was so sweet that he was like a hardcore super soldier.
... just saying, i was expecting something else, but i do see what they did, they made it more realistic. i like realism so its cool lol.
@hassshaassh Actually the trailers kind of made him sound like an emo hero. But in the actual game you can CHOOSE how he feels about his augmentations and his general personality kinda like in mass effect. There is a little talk you have with a character at the start of the game that asks you how do you feel about being a cyborg. The responses are basically.
good job on the remix, the xylophone or whatever wouldnt be my top choice.... but at least you made this, i HATE HATE HATE the theme of deus ex 3 , the original was epic, badass style, but deus ex 3 is, oohh oohh its soo dramatic oohh dramatic oooh its dramatic, see how dramatic it is, so dramatic .... its F*ing LAME.... i couldnt believe they didnt have some tune of the original in it... major let down, as soon as i can im modding this into the game.... unless thers a more badass styled remix
God from/out of the machine. A more practical translation is "man-made god". The phrase was coined by the Romans as a term for the trend of lazy playwrights making their plays end by introducing a "god" or otherwise omnipotent being who conveniently solves everything, without following the story's progression. In "Life of Brian" where he falls off the tower and is rescued by aliens, there's a very deliberate deus ex machina.
@kankuj23 No, no its not. It took the franchise and dumbed it down to the point of no return, not to mention the fact that I can help a guy start a new company and literally 5 seconds later blow him in half with a shotgun and have NO consequences for doing so.
@PyroLord185 Deus Ex II - Invisible War. It refers partially to technological warfare and Majestic 12 trying to take over the world with the grey death. Indirectly, it refers to the exact opposite as well, a war that JC Denton and his brothers are waging in secrecy, a war that you also find IRL but that nobody ever talks about. It's a war for the human self.
@Pudabudigada Or, you know, everybody has their own opinion. I personally played it through to the end and thought it was complete garbage, but you have the complete right (And even OBLIGATION) to decide whether you like it or not. AFTER playing it. (Which I'm guessing you have)
@masterplusmargarita Yes, I've played it, -before DE1, actually- and I found it to be a well balanced game with a good level of freedom, excellent graphics, brilliant physics (always a bonus!), and interesting augmentation options, and addresses a problem with the first game in having many more weapons available. Still, it's a little more constraining than DE1, and I don't think the story is quite as good.
@KeiToEverything it was an ok game, but it does not i repeat does not DESERVE to have DEUS EX in the title. As far as i'm concerned IW is the bastard child that while he still ended up with a good job as a police officer, he can't keep up with his 2 other brothers who works for the Army Special Forces(HR), and the CIA(Deus ex).
@KNIGHTMAREMANIAC Oddly enough, i played invisible war FIRST(i'm 19 do the math, i wasn't old enough to appreciate a good game in 2000) and i thought hmm this is a pretty fun game. Then a few years later i saw the Human Revolution trailer, so i said, hmmm its june and HR comes out soon so let me play the 1st and oh boy. Graphic's aside, Deus Ex blew me away, i know see why fans frowned at IW. I hoped HR would be the TRUE successor....and I thought well, HR is the TRUE Deus Ex 2 in my eyes.
This is superbly done. The gentle blend of the two images really sells it for me. Much better than some other fan made compositions. It is a little light in places, but it's great all the same. Good job.
@Micro94Ice Actually, while your direct translation is accurate, the meaning is not entirely so. "Deus Ex Machina" refers to the cop-out plot device of solving the situation in the play by something that thus far has not been present in the play... by using a machine (a crane) to lower a "God" onto the stage, whereupon the "God" fixes the situation. Deus Ex Machina is thus the name of an ancient principle about how NOT to write fiction.
@th3voice It fits the theme of the series pretty well, since the ultimate end (in invisible war) involves a god like A.I snapping its fingers and solving all the worlds problems.
@ksDeathPaladin A more practical translation is "God in the machine".
It's an idea with fingers in human consciousness, society, economics, everything. Any kind of machine, no matter how random it might appear, is in fact being manipulated by some higher power. Humans are outwardly randomly-acting machines, so for them to be controlled as such requires some kind of soul, or a god. There's an order in the chaos. A God in the Machine.

@KNIGHTMAREMANIAC Two things(lol sorry but I'm a huge fan of the Deus Ex series):
1. Invisible War happened after both Deus Ex and Human Revolution, so it makes some sense.
2. I honestly don't see why everyone hates IW. I thought it was at least as good as DX and HR.
KeiToEverything 4 months ago
@KeiToEverything it was an ok game, but it does not i repeat does not DESERVE to have DEUS EX in the title. As far as i'm concerned IW is the bastard child that while he still ended up with a good job as a police officer, he can't keep up with his 2 other brothers who works for the Army Special Forces(HR), and the CIA(Deus ex).
Lol bad metaphor i know....

Great remix. The last quarter really brings out the feeling and atmosphere of Deus Ex out.

Excellent stuff man! I'm quite impressed :P
bartaaa404 6 months ago
@TheWill69 It could also be considered "God from Within", I'd say either one of the translations would work well.

This is superbly done. The gentle blend of the two images really sells it for me. Much better than some other fan made compositions. It is a little light in places, but it's great all the same. Good job.

Well done - great mix and as a lover of the Deus Ex franchise I have to say this is amazing! :)

does deus ex mean "from god" ?
lollmemm 8 months ago
@lollmemm The complete expression is "Deus ex machina" it means "God from machines". The meaning is "someone who solves a complicated situation".
Micro94Ice 7 months ago
@Micro94Ice Actually, while your direct translation is accurate, the meaning is not entirely so. "Deus Ex Machina" refers to the cop-out plot device of solving the situation in the play by something that thus far has not been present in the play... by using a machine (a crane) to lower a "God" onto the stage, whereupon the "God" fixes the situation. Deus Ex Machina is thus the name of an ancient principle about how NOT to write fiction.

@th3voice I'm gonna kick my Latin theacher's ass.
Micro94Ice 5 months ago
@th3voice It fits the theme of the series pretty well, since the ultimate end (in invisible war) involves a god like A.I snapping its fingers and solving all the worlds problems.

@Cha4k
well, it's still open I think, what kind of end Alex D. took and if he/she worked with JC right? o_O
theWayofstrategy 5 months ago
@lollmemm
It's part of a latin quote "Deus ex Machina", which means : "God out of the machine".
ksDeathPaladin 6 months ago 58
@ksDeathPaladin A more practical translation is "God in the machine".
It's an idea with fingers in human consciousness, society, economics, everything. Any kind of machine, no matter how random it might appear, is in fact being manipulated by some higher power. Humans are outwardly randomly-acting machines, so for them to be controlled as such requires some kind of soul, or a god. There's an order in the chaos. A God in the Machine.
