wouldn't the electricity from the electric chair switch travel through his arm and make complete contact? Also they didn't cut the guy's hair and didn't add a wet sponge to the headpiece.
George was and is a hero of mine. Despite the hokey stories he always played Clark straight, proving you could be mild mannered without being a dufus. I liked his Clark as much as his Superman. Chris and Brandon were never as good
Excellent compilation, the early episodes had a suspenseful feel to them up to the point when Superman arrives. In the Fleisher animated series, Clark would always say: "this looks like a job for Superman", in these episodes its "Great Scott". In the later animated series by Filmation, it shows Superman actually stopping a train with his hands. In this series, two episodes, "Shot in the Dark", and "The Perils of Superman", he does encounter trains, but uses other tactics to stop them.
I remember watching this when I was a kid. I really enjoyed the way that George Reeves played the character. I also loved how they would have metal bend whenever they tried to stab him.
I love how superman stands tall when the bad guys shoot bullets at him, and he doesn't flinch, but then when the bad guy runs out of bullets and throws the gun at superman, he DUCKS! Lol!
@ttt8699 I've seen the scene where he ducks many times. And I'm pretty sure it was the stunt man (not George Reeves) who ducked. I don't know why they used a stunt man for part of that fight scene, but I think he's the one who didn't want to get hit by the prop gun.
They weren't quite paper, but they were flimsy. There is the story about the wall which dried out too much. Reeves impacted it, not quite getting through. He did incur a little pain. The special effects people had to remake it for the scene.
wow...I love superman so much, but George reeves REALLY played the part the best...^-^ to me, anyway, and he`s still superman in my mind. =] excellent video!
A few comments, not only on the preview but, on the whole series. Personally, though more
violent (season 1) seemed much better. However, a few bloopers, or rather idiosyncrosies: 1) Superman stands there while they shoot at him but ducks when they throw the gun at him. 2) in the episode with the train trestle (in teh preview) why didn't he jump off the train instead of flying to the trestle? 3) Kryptonian material (outfit made from his blanket) how was the costume made by his mother?
Costume of Kryptonian material was blankets Superman was wrapped in on flight to Earth. Material was unwoven then knittted into Superman's uniform. When the story was re-worked, any material held next to his body became indestructible within his body's solar-powered aura. That's why his costume is indesctructible but his cape now tears or burns.
Okay, granted the material. However, in one episode of the series the cape couldn't be cut or burned (The Face and the Voice). However, sometimes he used his cape to protect people. Therefore, the proximity of the cape to him was not that much. However, concerning the solar-powered aura: That's crock. All of his powers came from the fact that he was under a yellow sun as opposed to a red sun (as on Krypton). (all the flying, for the most part, was done at one time.)
During the old stories that were the basis for Superman show w/George Reeves...costume and cape was indestructible Kryptonian material which was unwoven then re-knitted into costume and cape. The solar-powered aura around material was reworked into the Superman story in the 80's. In the 50's, the cape, like the costume was indestructible since it was made from Kryptonian material. Therefore, it couldn't be cut, burned and could be used to protect people.

These black and white episodes RULE !! There were some cool parts of the color ones, but got ruined by the stupid kid stuff.
Does anyone know if there has ever been an attempt to colorize these black and whites ? Not that I really want them ot do that. JHP
