@TheArchangles982 skin color doesn't mean crap, Marovich, McHale, West, and many other "white" NBA players are better than those draft bumms like Thabeet, Brown, and Michael O
@babos94 why are you watching a video of a player you dont like.ohh i know your a hater with nothing better to do am i right cus it sure seems that way?
@kevinguapo01 They were both amazing players, individually and team based. Yeah Larry Bird didn't have as many assists but who in their right mind would rather have him pass instead of shoot. They could both control the game anyway they wanted and Larry Bird is credited with one of the best court visions in NBA history alongside Magic. Larry Bird played with Robert Parish and Kevin McHale who eventually became All-Stars because of Larry's ability to raise the level of everyone around him.
@kevinguapo01 Magic Johnson played with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the NBA's all time leading scorer, who was leaps and bounds beyond what Kevin McHale and Robert Parish could even dream of becoming. How can you not get assists playing with someone like that. Not taking anything away from Magic though but in my opinion Larry Bird was the better overal player because he could score at will, could get double digits in assists whenever he wanted, and averaged a double-double for his entire career.
@kevinguapo01 As to your argument of better individual and better team players, any team in the league could have won championships having just one of these guys on their team because not only were they two of the greatest players to play the game, they were two of the greatest competitors and it's that competitive fire that made these players so great. Neither player is greater than the other. Sure they have different skillsets and styles but these guys were the same player in different bodys.
@kevinguapo01 I know I said I believe Larry to be the better overall player but in terms of being better individually or as a team, there is no argument because they could do it all. Magic could pass like no other and Larry's shooting is arguably the greatest all time. They both pushed their teams to succeed and play at the highest level possible. Saying one is better is disrespecting the game of basketball because there will never be two players like them again, ever. Just appreciate them both.
@waylong32 you got a very good point sir. But I don't think saying anyone is better is disrespectful, because everyone has their own prefrences, and I prefer Larry Bird, but I still like Magic too. And you could have said this, rather than calling me "fuckin dumb" for no reason :)
@kevinguapo01 Haha I realise that now, blasted you for no reason. Was just tried of seeing all these 'who's better' comments on Magic and Larry because they played different positions on teams with very different systems. And I meant Larry could get double digit assist any time his TEAM needed it, he wasn't the kind of guy to go out and fill the stat sheet just to get his numbers (LeBron James), he did it to win. Sorry dude.
I grew up as a Laker fan in the 1980's. And I hated Larry Birds guts with a passion, but it was only because of how great a player he was when I watched him torment the Lakers. Especially in the 84 series. As I grew older I gained nothing but respect at how smart and great a player he was and he deserves all the hype and accolades as one of the greatest players ever.
this guy would be one of the five best players in the nba right now!!! he was tougher than any of the stars today did anyone know bird played half his career with SEVERE BACK PAIN and ya he still killed great athletes like diominique and pippen, he was not just a shooter his passing and post game were second to none and he could even dribble if u tried to press him imagine trying to guard dirk with better handles and a step quicker and would flat out be two plays ahead of you ! thats bird
the shot at 3:13, man players today would just jump into the defender to draw the foul....back in the golden age of NBA, dudes would want to actually make the shot. way more exciting and confident basketball.
@TheHNIC88 no way larry would out think lebron because he dum as shit and larry is pretty crafty he would steal the ball half the time and also they're from two different generations and larry is better in his than lebron in this generation
@TheHNIC88 Larru Bird finished in the Top 10 in DRT like 5-6 teams he also Lead 2 Play-Offs In DRT. Bird was a Better Post Defender and Stealer than Bron. Bird could actually Post Up and Shoot.

@Munising1 as good (if not better) than defense in the 80s and 90s... and Dr. J was considered one of the best clutch players in his time. Every thing you've said is wrong and your spelling horrible, so please, PLEASE no what the fuck you're talking about before trying to sound smart again. @Munising1 first of all spell stockton's name right if you're going to argue about him, also Stockton was a superstar till this day he is one of the greatest playmakers and defenders of all time, saying that Stockton wasnt a superstar let's me know that you don't know what you're talking about. Also your argument about Kobe, Kobe has been all NBA defensive team multiple times in his career and unlike you i actually watched basketball in the 80s and 90s, modern defense is actually (continued)

@psychhoo all he did was the fricken sky hook and played 20 years so to put alcindor in the top 10 is a load of crap but because he had cool glasses i will consider him for 11 or 12
@psychhoo ok i know he did amazing but was it more amazing then karl malones 2 mvps and 25+ ppg thru his whole carrer or more amazing then wilts 50 ppg in a season or 100 points in a game? or more amazing then pete maravichs 43 ppg with lsu? or more amazing then bill russels defence and rebounding And his titles? was it more amazing then isiah thomas's 2 titles and the best little man and 2nd on the showtime list of all time. The other players say for themselves.
@Munising1 dude for you not to include kobe bryant in that is insane. he has 4 rings....soon to be five this is his 7th time in the finals. and also for u not to include DrJ is insane, yeah and no Jabar...dude your wack, wheres john stockton he was one of if not the best PG ever.
@Munising1 dude for you not to include kobe bryant in that is insane. he has 4 rings....soon to be five this is his 7th time in the finals. and also for u not to include DrJ is insane
@Munising1 man that's an awful list... no basketball expert or anyone who knows anything about oldschool basketball would even consider putting Wilt chamberlain over Bill Russell or Kareem Abdul-Jabbar... Also you're putting Pete Maravich in there? really!? and there's no way Isiah Thomas deserves to be over Oscar Robertson, also Karl Malone was great but he got dominated by Charles Barkley whenever they played against eachother, a player who actually deserves to be in there.
@jifyum07 Who doesn't put Pete Maravich in an all time list cmon! and charles barkley was good but doesn't have a ring, i forgot about oscar ur right there but isiah deserves a spot, defense has changed from the late 80s- early 90s to 2010 because nba had great defenders like dennis rodman, karl malone, isiah thomas, magic, mj, james worthy, david robinson, stockton, tim hardaway, bill laimbeer, mark aguire, scottie pipen, grant hill, mt.mutumbo. the list goes on
@jigi102 Larry Bird was better than Jordan. His scoring average is lower than Jordan's because Bird's prime was spent sharing scoring with Parish and McHale. Jordan in the 80's took those shots at will. MJ's legacy is based on his high scoring average. It's all bullshit when you look at it in context
@gatorlover4life maybe because Jordan faced weak competition and Larry faced the toughest teams in history? Come on. Jazz? Sonics? Only meaningful victory was against the Suns in 93.
@beatcavs09 the sonics were weak....the jazz were an amazing team and if it wasnt for jordan they would have won twice...they had one of if not the best power foward ever in karl malone and one of the best point guards ever in john stockton
dmun5587red123 knows what they are talking about i completely agree with all of what they said except for maybe mj being the best i mean yeah he was one of the greatest but i'd say put either wilt or bill on top
mj and magic are number 1 and 2 or 1 and 3... kobe and lebron?!?!? lmao thats cute.. maybe 10yrs from now.. kobe isnt on my top 5lol and you cant put lebron up there yet.. wilt played during a time where everyone was 4or more inches shorter than him.. and oscar and bill are just slightly behind bird/magic imo
I personally feel MJ is the GOAT, but have no problem having Magic and Larry up on his level/class. What I never can understand is how people say, yeah MJ is the greatest, but Kobe is #2. Bullshit. and bullshit to believe that Kobe is the greatest shooter of all time. Bird and MJ nearly shot 50% for their careers. Larry to me is a much better shooter than Kobe
it is unfortunate that most people who watch hoops today never got to see just how nasty the birdman really was. there was a reason the man won not only 3 rings but 3 straight mvp's
the man really had a total game and could a team in so many ways.
That duel with Nique was amazing. Nique is so underrated..lol, people wanna talk about Kobe and Lebron today..Nique would be the best in the game if he played today..which means Bird would be that much better..Man, the good ol' days.
Ok Bird was great and all... But imagine if he was black. Off the charts!

Check out 1:54.
The Celtics and Lakers of the 80's could have easily destroyed the 90s Bulls. Bulls happened to play in a weak era

the legend was sick. he had floor general skills in that forward body and incredible range for that quick release jumper. gotta respect the skill.

larry had more more heart and drive to win than any other player in nba history.
he was also the hardest working superstar in nba history.
and imo the 2nd or 3rd best player ever to play the game

Imagine if he had a great team? he wouldve won like 10 rings
SoxXxOwnsU 2 years ago
hes not 2nd or 3rd he more like 5th or 6th babie boy... u forgeting mj,magic, kobe, lebron, oscar, wilt, and bill read up
commonjrod 2 years ago
mj and magic are number 1 and 2 or 1 and 3... kobe and lebron?!?!? lmao thats cute.. maybe 10yrs from now.. kobe isnt on my top 5lol and you cant put lebron up there yet.. wilt played during a time where everyone was 4or more inches shorter than him.. and oscar and bill are just slightly behind bird/magic imo
goudz23 2 years ago
if u are putting kobe and lebron as top five players of all time right now then maybe its you who should be reading up

Putting Kobe and LeShit James in the same category as Magic and Oscar is blasphemy.

WOW at 1:32. That is amazing.
jcaudill6921 2 years ago
That duel with Nique was amazing. Nique is so underrated..lol, people wanna talk about Kobe and Lebron today..Nique would be the best in the game if he played today..which means Bird would be that much better..Man, the good ol' days.
