Nice job! Give this a try on your chords during the verses, and you'll sound just like Tom. The chord pattern is basically Am, D, G, but replace the D with a D/F#(middle finger 2nd fret low E string, ring finger 2nd fret G string, and pinky 3rd fret B string. Leave the high E string open. Then, make the G chord a G6 (just leave the high E string open again). Tom Petty loves to play patterns that leave the high E string open (free fallin, running down a dream, etc).
