The first time i saw Wicked was on the front row (hurray for day-seats!) on the day the Nancy's had their weekly challenge at the Apollo Victoria straight after the show, was awesome! So wish I could remember how amazing Rachel was, considering her status in that theatre now!

There is lacking of her performance. She didn't prolong the notes of the song sometimes. and then when the measurement of Intervals are far for example she sings FA then Do, P4 her voice is weak. She needs to practice in order for her be a perfect Broadway singer.

I was blown away with Samantha in the Les Mis Concert, but i have to say she has grown a lot since this show. Granted "Defying Gravity" is a tough song, but this performance was pitchy at times and vocally all over the place. Her tone, control and pitch has gotten sooo much better in just a few years.

I think there are two reasons this wasn't seen as a "great performance". Firstly I think the cut of the song doesn't do it justice, the whole song is a massive progression and adrenaline rush and the build up was lost on this version. Secondly, she wasn't gritty enough to the nature of the song, it's all about being filled with self empowerment and some aspect of vigor, Samantha was a bit too crisp. Then again, I think her voice is ace. I'd love to hear her sing Astonishing from Little Women!
