  • Looks like chalk

  • my girlfriend puts that on her Taco when she slips with the razor.

  • Stypic pencil? No, but we use stypic powder at work all the time to stop minor external bleeding.

  • Thanks man. Someone mentioned it and this was one of the 1st things to come up

  • It sure beats going to work with toilet paper on your face;)

Great video, just one small correction: it is a STyptic pencil, not a Syptic pencil

  • used these things for years and can vouch for their effectiveness. mine is not the no-sting variety, though heh

  • @ircimager Same here man. It works perfectly, but since i don't have the "no-sting" version is sort of hurts a bit to use.

@Cutlerylover : Awesome review, and good to see you got your channel back!

  • thats awesome! but im wondering do you have diabetes or something? why would you have the needle test kit

  • i HAVE this :D bought it 2 months ago

  • oh yeah I've had a few of those, they usually burned.

  • wow i actually got one without a travel case

  • I found out about this browsing around the shaving supplies at Walmart. I was skeptical but tried it anyway. This has made life so much easier. Before, if I got cut shaving, I'd put some tissue on the cut and wait a while for it to clot. Then I'd have to clean off the excess dried blood with a damp tissue. Often it would leave a visible dried scab.

Now I can just apply this styptic pencil, wipe off the excess, and then go about my business. The best part is that the cuts are almost invisible.

  • it seems 4 people dont shave yet...

  • AHH!! BLOOD!!!

*screams like a baby and fainted*

  • that is so cool! thanks for the review!

  • No disrespect, mind you. I enjoy your videos and respect your opinions. However, I have seen these before (as another poster said, at Walmart) and have avoided them for the reason I stated below.

  • There have been links though to Aluminum sulfate (the same ingredient in anti perspirant deodorant) and breast cancer. It has been claimed that it enters the body from the deodorant through the tiny nicks of shaving (for women, in the armpits) to collect and create a cancerous tumor. While I have no information here to cite for you, I would suggest looking into it if you are really serious about applying a styptic pencil (56% aluminum sulfate) directly to your bloodstream.

  • @Mithras234 No offense but that's the same sad urban legend that's been going on for over fifteen years now. There is no credible evidence of it and spreading it only feeds hysteria and self-blame for people who develop breast cancer.

  • They work well, I use them when I cut myself shaving my body, you can feal them working. I sometime cut my moles and they bleed for ages, I'm glad I finally found something that works to stop them bleading all over the place.

  • These work VERY WELL for canker sores.

  • There is an idea that you could use the clotting agent in snale venom in emrgancy calls, when the paramadics arive they could soray the purified substance, that clotts blood into wounds and stop large amounts of bleading FAST.

  • I just baught one today, and it works, I did not cut my self on purpose, but it did the job. It's fantastic. I never heard of anyone who ever hade to shave before 13, surley a 12 year old would not need one, would they? I have moles on my face, and they bleed for hours if I cut myself, this styptic pencil is just the thing I need.

  • i got one they really work

  • @landlow5 Your right, and there really tidy too. Also you don't get infections either.

  • mines doesnt come with a tube.

  • Amazing.

  • will this help my sister when she's on the rag?

    lol

  • U gave up your blood for use ;') aahahhahahha lol

  • U gave up your blood for use ;')

  • I jus got one of these cus I saw it and I remembered ur vid,I jus used it...jesus eff'in!!! U did not say this thing was gonna sting like a motherf**ker!! Lol

  • It also works great for people who have birds. When you cut your birds flight feathers and nick a blood feather it will stop the bleeding fast.

  • ur sarcasm is awesome

  • unless your like 8 or 9, and your dont really...neeed. to. shave anything lol

  • the magic earaser (did i spell it right) of blood

  • For external use only =D xD great :p

  • got the same thing at walmart (same brand, same packaging) and mine didn't come with a travel case, just the pencil :/...

    cool demonstration though ^_^

  • thank for this video

  • liquid bandage is awesome for when your fingers get cut or crack in the cold, but it stings

  • that pencil would be a good addition to a hikers back pack, I know I have been snagged by briars and limbs afew times myself.I do wonder about the aluminum in it though, I realize that its the same stuff as most deorderants, but I wounder if chap stick or bees wax would do the same, in protecting a cut? or would it more likely melt away easier? thanks for video ..good info.. and I would X out some of these idiots comment, its amazing how many narrow twisted minds sit and dewell in stupidness

  • looks like a tampon... probably just as effective

  • lol emo jk jk

  • Just say vagina jeff, it wont hurt you

  • You made pepto bismol. :D

  • flagged for gore.

  • i threw up over that cut!

  • thats pretty cool :o

  • I have one in my survival pack for small cuts when I go out hunting, brilliant little thing

  • HAHAHAHAHA i know ITS GRUSOM

  • you're so committed to your videos, you'd cut yourself to demonstration how to heal it!

  • I just use this, stings like a bitch; but works so fat!

  • Holy crap man, 2:30 that's more raw than Nutn's Tenacious cut.

  • this would of been usefull if i had it when i dropped my balisong on my foot lol

  • i bought one for my wife when its that time of the month but she wont let me try it out on her and see if it stops the bleeding!!??? women!!

  • @satinwarship Can i please say .. LOOOOOOOOOOL !!!! its a Very Good idea .. XD

  • I HAVE COLT,KIMBER,SPRINGFIELD,AND ria 1911's and just recently purchased a remy i had a s&w which besides glock is my fave boyfriend..the rock island 1911 has such a wonderful trigger very little take up and it breaks like glass!! very crisp and refreshing. pretty much all of my 1911's are sturdy and well built and feel great in the hand..all bullsmoke aside the ria is a very impressive gun for the price! it handles just as well if not better than some of its double priced counter parts imo :)

  • this would be awesome for when i get cut flipping my balisong

  • its so scary i think im gonna cry waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah waaaah;)

  • hey, i was in turkey over the summer, and they're very into their male grooming, especially shaving. I had a turkish shave, and afterwards i bought a grooming kit (cut throat, shaving brush, soap bar, classic razor) but the interesting thing, i dont know if anyone have seem this before, but they included a variant of the styptic pencil. it was like a ilittle book of matches, but the head was actually the styptic wax, works the same way, and very handy :)

  • i think i could watch you review a rock and still enjoy it

  • @thehammerglock17 ive watched him shave his face with a straight razor for 25 minuites before and watched the whole thing lol

  • @thehammerglock17 now i want to see him talk about a rock it would be funny!

  • I cut myself shaving so rarely I don't think I would ever need one, though if I see one in a store ill def. buy it, nice review/demonstration.

  • Sorry I missed the rest of the video, I fainted after I saw all that blood! haha, no but that pencil is cool! I have to get me one!

  • For those who are prone to dropping their shank on their foot.

  • Other Unmentionable parts LOLOL

  • @Gimboy202 LOL ..

  • Good info, thanks for the tip!

  • Comment removed

  • OH GAWD - this was like watching a horror flick ;D

  • I don't shave... I'm bigfoot

  • shaving your balls is a modern age man thing, some women appreciate it. It's the metrosexual fad that is going on which causes men to be as finicky as women, you know the guys who shave/wax EVERY part of their bodies lol.

  • @LiFetommi i shave my balls

  • I hope nobody flags this for too much gore

  • i love how awesome you are its just your all around awesome i am 11 but your just so so awesome lol so awesome i love your videos keep them up please please

  • nice product for diabetics

interesting active ingredient isn't that the same crap that conspiracy's videos say they spray to cause chem trails !

  • Hm, out of curiosity, why do you have the lancet? Is someone diabetic?

    But great video altogether.

  • LoL, I remember my dad gave me one of these when I first started shaving, old tech but it works great, I think I'll get one again after seeing this, thank you :)

  • Heck ya Jeff. Man it has been years since I heard of them. Use to use them alot. LOL

  • If its really bad, and you have health conditions [eg heart, I mean drs prescribe aspirin like candy], and your able to, you can use the silver nitrate applicators to cauterize the bleeding spots. Sometimes used in bloody noses, and for people with various stages of diabetes.

  • u dibetic

  • love them, always have one. another good one is no nix

  • My step dad got a cut in his nose and used a styptic to stop the bleeding, the funny thing was though, is that it made him look like a cocaine addict from all the white powder under one of his nostrils...

  • good to know

  • I'm 12 and I have no reason to shave :P

  • Shave anything yet......

  • woah that was cool... your cut was like completely gone lol

  • My mom uses the heck out of those. Good video!

  • I got one of these when I got my first kimura.....

  • what is the name of the place where you got it? i live close to you

  • strange thing is the only time i've ever heard of Styptic was from MGS 3, and that was used to stop bleeding.

    Mike.

  • Pussy shave

  • i have somteting like that too but it's called alaun pencil

  • Thanks For the video cool stuff

  • Does Jeff have diabetes?

  • Jeff, do you have a Philly accent? Did I hear "wudder" when you said water? Yay Philly!

  • I found out about these when trying to figure out how to shave with a straight razor. Cool little tool.

  • This is genius. Those damn shaving cuts never stop bleeding!

  • way to take one for the team jeff, nice vid hehe.

  • have one

  • The purpose of those is to make grown men scream like little girls! I have never found one that is sting free.

  • I use the the ol' TP trick............

  • other parts...

  • I saw one of those in my grandfather's bathroom last week when I was helping him move, I was wondering what it was.

  • The old ones used to be silver nitrate, and they worked great for mouth ulcers as well. My dad used to mention them, they'd burn like hell for a second, but the mouth sore would heal up right away with no pain afterwards. Of course, they got banned, as per usual.

  • Very nice video! :) Your nearing 1000 videos. I have been with you since 200 ish. Keep up the great content! :D

  • every real man should have a stytic pen

  • i have heard of one and i used one when i shaved im 15

  • I'm twelve and I shave if that counts as a kid

  • nowadays there are ones like matches in a box. Each of them for one use, so being much more sterile and safe. like these

  • " if you have a big old gash no stick it in there and poke it around" THATS WHAT SHE SAID

  • i have that exact same thing. it definitely stings like a mother.

  • i little nick or cut... when i cut myself its a deep gushing wound

  • Comment removed

  • LANDING STRIP!!

  • These are pretty common here in the UK, you don't see them everywhere but a lot of people use them when shaving (myself included!).

    Another interesting vid!

  • My dad showed me those years ago ! I still use one :)

  • Hey, not being nit picky (otherwise could have pointed out many misuse of words and idioms in the past) but wanted to point out for people who may speak english as second language etc, "doesn't sting which i can 'contest' to" means you dispute/not agree with. What you should have said was 'attest'

Sorry I've notice youtube/americans seem to misuse words so much, probably b/c of their education system etc. Not being offensive, only trying to make it easier for international viewers like myself

  • @LiFetommi not because of education you uppity european, its because it sounds better than attest to, and yes, you are being nit picky, thats what you do.

  • I remember my father using one when I wasa kid. They're effective when it comes to stopping bleeding, but boy, do they sting....

  • Great video! Have yourself a great weekend guys!

  • those things hurt like hell

  • @TheCoolJumper not if your a hardcore emo, like jeff said its for small cuts !!! lmao

  • wow, i never knew these things existed. thanks for sharing! i learn a lot from you

  • lol giant crayon :)

  • They have them at Walmart CL.

  • I really need to get me one of these Stiff-dick pencils

  • Thanks for the vid. I was wondering about those.

  • I'm a mechanic and I keep one of these in my toolbox. I'm always getting little nicks and cuts on my hands.

  • I remember convincing my Dad to use one when he caught his leg on barbwire, was a funny moment.

  • I remember when i was a kid when i got canker sores using a Styptic pencil and cured it fast great stuff

  • i... just fainted.... thx. -.-

  • thats SWEET i've never seen one of those

  • My grandfather introduced me to these when I first started shaving. I have one at home for shaving and I actually carry one in the 1st aid kit that rides everywhere with me. Oxymetazoline Hydrochloride also works similarly, it was designed as a nasal decongestant, but it constricts blood flow which can be used (ocassionally, because there is such a thing as too much of a good thing) for minor-medium first aid.

  • really cool, thanx never heard of that before!

  • you have the same cups as me..!!!!

  • @obbyyourmom LOOL

  • yeah use these all the time when I cut my self shaving burns like hell but rocks..

    LOL other unmentionable parts

  • I used to use one of those when I was trying to shave every day with a cut throat razor. Now I use an old single blade safety razor and life is sweet! And my total outlay on shaving equipment and soap is about $6 a year, if that.

  • thats pretty cool, i just use super glue

  • Real men don't bother shaving because of their manly beards!

  • @TheHossUSMC roger that bearded brother.

  • no need to desinfect that needle upfront?

  • Verrrrry Sweet!

  • Are you a diabetic?

  • Thanks great stuff!

  • im 21 and not only have i heard of it, i have one

  • I lost my dinner

  • sooooooooo grosss

  • im more interested in ur blood tester. wat brand is it?

  • Sounds like the perfect addition to a camping/bushcrafting first aid kit. Thanks for showing me this!

  • Now that is dedication!

  • Whoa whoa whoa Jeff, dont attempt these crazy stunts in videos anymore ... theres young children watching :O

  • yes i use one in shaving almoast every day. depends on the day/shave but indeed its indespensable to shavers. or anyone.

  • better than toilet paper squares!!! yes cut yourself. sacrifice for your art. way to commit jeff.

  • These also work great for canker sores. (Open sores in the mouth) It stings like hell, and it tastes really bitter, but it heals the sore, sometimes overnight.

  • Thanks for taking one to the arm for youtube

  • OMG you bleeding! you dont need a pencil you need a hospital! haha jk thats pritty cool. Thanks for your vids.

  • ya lol styptic pencils sting. but are a genius invention

  • OMG WTF! i just saw this at the store! and come home BAM! heres a vid. Jeez wierd huh

  • I must have bought the Torquemada brand, stings-like-hell styptic by accident. I'll have to give the Clubman brand a try.

  • Did you buy that lancet just for this demonstration, or do you have the diabeetus?

  • I've got a styptic pencil, i use it quite frequently because i shave with a double edge safety razor. "sting free" actually means "stings a lot". They do work quite well though.

  • oh no i cut my hand off get the syptic pencil wuick lmfao ahhah

  • how neat,i can use this when i shave my ___ area... :)

  • yep dad had like three of those next to the razors all the time

  • I have one for shaving nicks & cuts

  • Dude! You are dying for your art! Cool!

  • Do not share these after use!!!!!!! hahah

  • i own a ton of these but i dont use them for shaving since i use an electric razor i use mine for cuts i get while working on cars and thing like that

  • i just use TP
