However, I'm not apologizing for saying my opinion whether he is blood to you or not. Whether or not Devery is in the wrong, it was stupid of him to take pictures, RECORD what he's doing, and then have the nerve to post the video up on a site that ENCOURAGES niggardly behavior.

Sweetz, thank you for an insightful response to what occurred.

Child abuse is not limited to one race or one group of people by a longshot.  However, the African American community needs to face up to the fact that some of the things that are acceptable child-rearing practices to them are out-of-step with the rest of the country. Not all African Americans beat their children with belts. However, I would say that a majority do. Some things need to change.

it wasn't his son. it was a young man he has been mentoring for over a year. i dont agree with him shaving his eyebrows or recording it but its obvious that this little boy had no respect for authority and he needed to be disciplined. a boy needs to be corrected by a man, especially at a young age. otherwise he will probably end up like alot of guys walking around out here now

Kids need to be lead by example. If you abuse your kid, you're teaching him to be an abuser, and worse, when they grow up. The man didn't discipline his kid, he abused him. You don't go to jail for videotaping yourself disciplining your kid. You go to jail for videotaping yourself for abusing your kid. Talk to your kids. Lead by example. if you're an abusive thug, that's what your kid will be.

i believe that the language and the humiliation was a bit harsh, but I believe that the sprints were warranted. If the boy did not learn at home he would maybe be sent to boot camp where he would subjected to way more. I completely disagree with him recording it, that was not neccesary.

the only problem I have is his posting on wshh, Black boy's and men need the harshest and rigorous discipline possible. The main problem is that the Black male has been coddled and babied by our mothers, girlfriends, etc. Which is a testament to the unending love Sistahs have for us, but the caveat is that we cease to be men or better yet protectors of those who love us so(Black Women).
