In school the are taught that learning isn't play it's work. Work is no fun, therefore learning is no fun. I think that's why most(not all)students would rather get on Facebook than read a book.

It's DEFINITELY up to the kid! My nephew was harrassed at his ghetto school because he's always on the honor roll. He started asking around about homeschooling programs because the other boys were deliberately trying to break his concentration in class. "You think you better than us!" & that kind of BS. Some people (race doesn't matter) see others trying to change their situation & get offended, because it makes them question their own self-image, makes them uncomfortable with themselves.

This video is evidence of the catastrophic effects of the mind-murdering, soul-crushing, and morally bankrupt predations of behaviorist pedagogy as practiced in public schools and far too many homes. Tragically, this woman conflates schooling with education. She is a perfect example of what happens when techniques fit for animal training are pass for "good" parenting, and is committing a reprehensible act. True education centers around empathy, curiosity, respect, and intrinsic motivation.

On the other hand, maybe if you were more concerned with the content of your argument instead of its presentation then I would agree with you. If she was really a good mom, she would have done something else to motivate her son besides publically humiliating him.
And just because a kid has bad grades, it doesn't automatically mean he is a punk or delinquent.
The kid could have a valid learning disability or be severly depressed.

It's DEFINITELY up to the kid! My nephew was harrassed at his ghetto school because he's always on the honor roll. He started asking around about homeschooling programs because the other boys were deliberately trying to break his concentration in class. "You think you better than us!" & that kind of BS. Some people (race doesn't matter) see others trying to change their situation & get offended, because it makes them question their own self-image, makes them uncomfortable with themselves.
