I had asked my dental hygienist if I should do it like this (to not use the same area of floss over again) & she said it doesn't matter. I didn't like her answer so I still use a different part of the floss for each gum space.

If you have bad breath it is caused from food stuck inbetween your teeth that you haven't flossed out. It is literally rotting away inbetween your teeth. By not flossing you are equivalently not brushing 7 of your teeth. You will in turn have bad breath and cavities.

if dental floss gets stuck between your teeth use thinner floss and use oral-b satain floss 9.2 wax 10/yrd . if your gums bleed it means its infected. make sure to floss everyday and brush everyday

Watching them do it on a little model makes it look easy. They should get the demonstrator to do it on there own teeth as well, cos actually reaching ur back teeth can be tricky..

My dentist has me using tiny brushes on my back teeth which i fing much easier to use..

Also get yourself a Sonicare flexcare toothbrush. A little bit expensive but after each use you feel like you have just seen your hygenist...

Various issues not covered :

- Blood. How much is expected when putting the floss deep enough into the gumline to get at the plague. This is a necessary part of flossing.

- Getting the angle right when doing the back teeth. Most people don't know how to fit both their fists far back into their mouth to floss. There is a technique which uses well angled and precision placed fingers. Perhaps another youtube clip has it?

I recently took a true/false poll if flossing incorrectly could harm my gums and the correct answer was yes, so I asked my hygenist if she had a video or anything and she didn't. Good old YouTube saved the day and now I know how to do it right. Thanks.
