  • MAGNIFICO - e un grosso resultato! You likely know this, but there is a fascinating profile of the composer in the Dec. 19/26 2011 issue of The New Yorker magazine by Alex Ross, the magazine's music critic. It boggles the mind that Gesualdo published his first piece of music at age 19 in 1585. And such a storied family history!

  • Nice chromatics and surprisingly good blend between the different recorders. May I ask if the bass has been pushed by equaliser?

  • @Nucdatrutn Hi, thanks for the compliments. No, the bass hasn't been pushed by anything. It's interesting because the larger recorders don't have all that much sound when played alone, but in a musical context they really come out because they reinforce the summed harmonics of the other instruments. The chromatics are of course quite typical of Gesualdo da Venosa, a truly remarkable composer with a fascinating life story.

  • Beautifully played. I admire the music of this composer. Is there a score available of this Galliarda I would like to play with our recorder consort.
