This show does have an eclectic but useful rank of acquired skills, doesn't it? Tire changing, wallpapering and raiding the French. No provision for the transport of captive women, of course; typical schoolboy error. I took mine away in a Ford Topaz - the poor cousin to the poor cousin that is the Ford Taurus - and have much regretted it ever since.
Hey, there should have been a disclosure "Caution, explosively funny" before the auditions! Now there's hyssop from my open goats cheese sandwich all over my keyboard
I have to say, the trumpet is such a harder instrument than most people realize. i gave up after only 3 or 4 months. I swear the instructors tell you to blow with your mouth closed. it makes your head vibrate and gives you a terrible headache. i picked up guitar and figured it out on my own in a matter of weeks and no headaches. anybody who can play trumpet well has my respect.
@maikeru01 really ? well im not sure how you did that because i have been playing guitar for over thirty years ,,,, both my parents were career musicians ,,, my brother and sister were also career musicians and still find guitar a challenge ,, so how did you " figure it out " in a matter of weeks ? the different tunnings alone take a life take a life time just to learn and adjust to, most good guitarist dont even know what chord the open strings are or the poly tones
@lesterclaypool1 Okay smart guy, I didn't say that I mastered the guitar or that I'm even particularly good at it, but the trumpet was impossibly difficult. What I figured out in a few weeks was how to coordinate my hands to play the note that I want them to play, and a couple of chords to work with so that I could at least do something with a guitar, so that it was at least fun and so I could get better at it. Trumpet was a brick wall and I was never going to enjoy it or get better at it.
@lesterclaypool1 guitar is not a difficult instrument to pick up, esp if you play pop/mainstream songs. knowing all the basic chords alone would allow you to strum and sing along to a huge variety of songs. The fingering and picking takes time to get used to but the learning curve is easier than instruments like trumpet, sax etc. You also can learn and play guitar without knowing music notation with the advent of tabs, which you cant really do with the other classical instruments.
@lesterclaypool1 maybe your family are wind instrumentalists? wind and string instruments require different skill. a string player like say a violinist would have a far easier time learning guitar than say a flautist or trumpet player.
hey oboe is freaking hard don't hate!
