just a question, did you made you one adapter? or did you got one from leovince?
I ordered the exhaust but had no adapter with it! so i am thinking to make one out off stainless steel! . by the way! it is a great beginner big! i am 6,3 and weight 189 pounds i did 55.000 km in two years. the bike is still running like new! I did always my service. valve adjustment every 20tkm, oil every 7tkm, filter, sparks, and i would recommend thicker fork oil! + progressive Springs. So much better handling
@2000blackstang I had a dyno jet kit at first and made it run right pretty OK but I was never sure whether it wasn't too lean or too rich so I ditched it and replaced it with Mikuni jets but larger than stock diameter. Go to GSTwins forum and find user Buddha, he know exactly what type of jets you need and he will sell you a set with replacement carb screws for 25-35 buck I believe. You could buy directly from mikuni and save COUPLE dollars but I just found it easier to get it from board member
so ive heard and read that this is a great beginner bike. would this bike fit me? im about 5'7" maybe and around 140 lbs, all muscle. im a lean skinny type person. also do you think this bike is a good deal for the price, suzuki's current msrp is about 5 grand.
@astaschak I definitely would recommend GS500 as a first bike. I previously rode moped and YZ125 few times, then I got my GS500. I have done 3000 miles so far. I know it's not much but for first 2-3 years I liked to take things slowly (I live in NYC and car drivers here are blind!)
I am 6 feet tall and weigh 155 pounds so you should be fine with your size. I can easily put both feet flat on the ground so you should be able to put at least one flat without lowering the bike!! -> look at next post
@elmnt4lfe127 yes it's my first bike, and I do not plan to upgrade anytime soon ;) I wasn't a big fun of yellow too until I got this bike. Yellow is the most visible of all colors so it gives you some extra safety too!!
@connexwolf I know you posted this 4 months ago but the starter button itself is known to go out on these bikes. Try switching out the right side controller
this bike is more than enough to get you in trouble quick. Horse Power number may not be high, but you can easily out accelerate most of the cars on the street. It goes as fast as 110-120 MPH, and what I love about it is that my GS500 gets around 54 MPG (and that is with 15T front sprocket and rejetted - stock can get 60-65 MPG)
thanks for comment. I like Yosh too. I went with Leo cause it was.... cheaper (kidding) and it has nice YELLOW sticker which matches the color of my bike nicely ;)
Hi kmlkrk, I've a gs500, I just intal a new K&N ait filter, and I am looking for more Hp, What do yo you think about the power with this Leo Vince, did you notice any change in the performance?
Hi. if you truly are for more power than GS is not for you. I did change the exhaust because I like the looks of it and sound. Performance... not a big of a difference! I am honest! Maximum gain you could get from GS500 would be like 3-4HP and it includes pipe, rejet, air filter and dyno testing to make the perfect setup. it is about 10 percent gain over stock. Not much but always something :) I would recommend Leo Vince because it is small!! [to be continued]
[continuation] I had stock GSXR pipe on my bike before and it was huge, R6 pipe is even bigger. But for performance gain itself I do not know... probably not. Also think about commuting and long trips. to be honest I love the sound of Leo VInce but I get a little annoyed after 50-100 miles of continuous riding - it's louuuudd . cheers. Kamel.
I agree unfortunately not enough people want that serious performance out of the GS500. Dyno jet the thing and get some good tires and go to CA Superbike School. Skill and handling trump HP.
thx now i just have to find the right one, correct! Did you got it from you suzuki dealer or from the internet?

@Resch60gmail The adapter, called flange, is custom made from 5mm thick steel.

did you run the stock jets in the carb? cause I got a stage one jet kit from dyno jet and I can't get it to run right.

It is a can for 2005 GSXR 600. The midpipe has been cut in 2 places and rewelded to produce appropriate angle - - > custom doesn't come in a box ;)

Though I prefer the sound of the Yoshi's growl slightly more, this is still a nice pipe. Very clean bike, BTW! :)
