people who are insulting the stance, you dont actually fight in that stance. its just the stance for training. try standing in the horse stance for 10 minutes it works the hell out of yur legs
Lets be real, This will never make you win a fight or get you out a fight. The stance, the punch, the defence, the combination is soo full of crap, i cant even describe it. If you do this stuff for dancing, then go for it, but selling it as something you can use in a fight not only lying to the viewers, but also to yourself.
These leg postures are some of the worse I've seen, your postures are your foundation for your style and without this, any advancement in training is worthless......I have started Seven Sstar Praying Mantis @ kuidetang.co.uk 1 year ago, and I have been searching for this true original martial art for a long time. I have praticed these postures daily since starting and I'm looking forward to progressing with this strong foundation.
people saying this wont work are wrong, you practice in low uncomfortable stances so when you are actually fighing/sparring you will be faster and it will be easyer

@jaylyn3 well the school that I go to in Montreal, teaches the Hung Ga style. And what we learn the most is self defence. It's not nearly as pretty to watch as Shaolin or more artistic forms but it's probably more practical in real life situations.
@nobobbel it is a traditional way for develop strenght and elasticity into the legs, it is a training stance not a fighting stance. try to keep a couple of minutes in the correct position and you will see
@bananabread119 what's the right way to punch. If u jump in to puch like in boxing, the opponent may block you and since your body is very close to him, he might be able to kick your groin easily. The right way is simply to stretch out your body into the forward stance to punch so that even if blocked he can't kick you easily because your body is too far away. So such a long punching method is the only correct way to punch.
I've been in Kung Fu for 6 years now. I know the difference between linear Karate and internal Kung Fu. This video is a poorly-disguised Karate demonstration. Don't let the "horse stance" fool you, it's a standard stance in all martial arts.

Kung FU ? But what kind of kung fu. For me Kung Fu is Lifestyle, but there are different styles the mains are Baguazhan , Taijiquan and Sin i . What is that ?
Well Karate's orginates from Okinawa..in the past they had traded alot of things with the chinese including martial arts...the Okinawins adopted a style & it was then called "chinese fist"...when Japan occupied Okinawa it was then that "chinese fist" was changed to "Karate"
this is great but theres no power at all in this punch test it on a bag and you will see only in the second part will there be any power because you weight will be behind it
There's another way to do it. Do the reverse punch first and then follow through with a clockwise hip turn back into the horse stance and extend for the long side punch. This way both punches are powered by a hip turn.
the punch itself has no power, its all about the rest of your body creating resitance wiht your body. and even if the punch isnt performed correctly and isnt super powerfull a quick strike to the face is still scaring and dissorienting, allowing you to follow up with a kick or punch...
Let me quote Bruce Lee: "I don't believe in styles" - you can combine anything you want, pick all the elements that personally fit you best. Many martial arts like taijutsu, systema, krav maga etc are nothing but a combination of different styles mixed with a personal touch ;) You could punch like a boxer but use the blocking advantages of kung fu for example. Or look at ving tsun / wing chun which is chinese boxing...
lol u guys are haters cuz uve never had shit done to you. you can say oh shit id kick his knee in blah blah bullshit but they practice that shit everyday till they can do it in a instant . and no ur arm dont have to be 100 percent striahg to thro every punch but for this one it does. its a technique get over it and if u think it doesnt work then fight someone who is good at kung fu cuz it does
Correct. These movents are shown in extreme slow motion. Power in Gung Fu comes from speed and technique, as opposed to more rigid powerful TKD style moves. Not that one is nececarilly better, a master in either style is effective, but to say that Gung Fu is moves are ineffective in a fight means you've never fought a Gung Fu man.
@mikebarros6 Do you think other people don't train to go for an offered knee with the same frequency with which these students practice this flawed strategy?
well these moves are taken from forms, they're meant to be practiced this way to build up technique and strength. in a real fight ur not gonna fight like this.
WOW finally someone with some knowledge. u know there are actually a hand full of ppl like u that know wat theyr talking about..cuz some others just talk to talk...lol
most people criticize a style they dont know and ignorantly compare it to the movies. The people in this video can actually fight - i know because I know them personally and trained with them. Traditional kung fu routines were developed to train the soldiers or whoever it was being taught to. These movements seem ridiculous to anybody who doesn't know martial arts becaues they dont understand that the movements are slightly exaggerated to show the application of them in a fighting situation.
agreed, most of it was for training soldiers, shaolin monks tho this was origonally to keep in shape after the head of a temple returned to find the others hunched over and having knee issues. lol all movies are exadgerated.
Even though you are right. I think if you pay this much attention to fighting techniques then you should be so discipline that you would just ignore the stupid people who talk like that. you know better.
@Brishedo I guess people wanna defend their styles i was in martial arts for 20 years many styles i dedicated my life to it Then i was put into a life and death situation I was attacked violently and i was faced with the truth. Martial Arts is crap Bruce Lee realized this after he was almost killed. Its the hardest thing to accept but when i let it all go for the quest for true combat, i finally discovered form without form. Im sorry but what these guys teach is crap and it will get u killed
@stevie2fu Man WTF are you SAYING? Martial arts is NOT crap. I mean, it's no use if you don't learn it with passion. It doesnt matter if youre doing it for 20 or 30 years, even someone who's been learning it for 5 years. but with passion will be exceptional. That person WILL be able to sustain an attack. Bruce Lee was not the greatest martial artist, lets face it. you will find hundreds of bruce lees in the shaolin temple in china.
@stevie2fu Sorry to hear about your experience with violent attack. Have you heard these sayings before... "A bad workman always blames his tools" and "a good craftsman can make a silk purse out of a pigs ear"? All MA that have stood the test of time work. They all work because they teach the same thing. Fighting principles. Most fighting principles bring you to the same conclusions regardless of style. It all depends on the teacher's skills and the student's intelligence and dedication.
@jasma98 completely agree with you. i like you stevie and i understand what your saying but maybe your just not mentally prepared. as i was saying, your so right! true strenght is people who get up again and fight! ive been through a lot in my life but if ive learned anything its to not sulk and have self pitty but to push all that aside and get up again! face your fears and stay positive!
@Brishedo theres a video on youtube of a kung fu student fighting a thug who was giving him problems. look up kung fu vs bully. its so funny how the thug underestimates him and then gets laid the EF out.
unfortunately, a well trained horse stance and any other stance, u can kick it as hard as u can and it wouldnt budge at all. so...if someone loses balance that way, thats their problem not martial arts problem
joe nuggz is actually correct, opening up 1 out of 4 of your gates (the knee) isnt worth it for such a weak attack. the correct counter would be a kick to the knee and if it doesn't budge it means its gonna take a lot more damage. when a limb budges back its a natural human defense to absorb as little damage as possible. the knee kick in this situation would be a finisher.
I guarantee that in a MMA like for instance UFC. If trained in Kung Fu, BJJ or JJ, boxing and wrestling your going to most likely be in excruciating pain seeing as Kung Fu is more about pressure points etc. There is a move where you strike the heart in a curtain spot and you will die
There is a move where you strike the heart in a curtain spot and you will die ???? you watch to much chinise shit? i am half blue belt and i am sure there is not shit like that if the human body was able to die that easily we could be all dead by now think before u say something there is no spot in the human body, that makes the human die just by one hit, dont believe what other ppl say seriusly dude ......
i disagree. punches are better, they are faster and you can throw more out there. they travel a shorter distance. your WAY more likely to hit someone with a punch than a kick. kicks take balance, and once thats thrown off you might get screwed.
punches are better for some people but if you do 50 kicks every day a kick is a lot better then a punch. you have much more power then any hand technique.
i don't think there are such things as riping oponents heart, especially in tai chi,if u did it or read about it's philosophy, where'd u read that :P (or heard)?
This isn't meant for the cage first off. Second off have fun rolling around on concrete. As much as I disagree with your statement I don't like the other arm that always comes into the stance where it is in by the chest, but I'm sure he would say that in a real life fight he wouldn't have his other hand there
lol this combo its not for fighting its sparring, u you never use your hands as a first attack you always use your legs to keep your enemy away from you, and u use your hand only when the enemy reach at you
Its def. applicable for the streets. Sparring is fun and all but the kicking you are talking about is more for points, I would only kick someone away if I was tired and needed him to back away, or I wanted to change where I am or my position.
wrong, keep close. kick only when needed, it takes up alot of energy. while your sitting over there kicking and trying to fend me off i can just conserve my energy until u get tired. also, with that mentality i kno your next move. you'll be way to ez to read. i KNOW your going to kick therefore i have the advantage. so basically MOSTLY punch and kick when you see an opening.
perhaps you are talking about high kicks. because kicks to the inner and outter thighs/knees and every so often to the ribs or solar plexus actually take very little energy and are wonderful to use on someone who wants to get in close.also, with those options you can vary your kicks just as much as punches.
yeah but you cant throw them out there as fast. its easier to read a kick than a punch. its HARD to hit someone in the head and solar plexus with a kick. so basically your kicking "jabs" are going to be to the side of the ribs or to the legs. when it comes to kicks you HAVE to wait for openings. kicks can be way more destructive than punches but you cant just blindly throw them out there.like i said before... OPENINGS!!!
Why is there so many rude comments! HAVE RESPECT for every stye. Kung Fu is an older style where millions of soldiers, warriors, and monks, have fought and died to keep it alive throughout history. Please be mature and educated individuals and have respect for all styles.
i guess i do need to lose some weight. but anyway, boxers are very good at what they do and there's nothing better for pure punching then boxing. how could anyone ever think that the best boxer in the world would lose to some kid. that's ridiculous.
well i wonder how a boxer is going to react to being kicked in the balls or leg or when their arm is grabbed and covered? i don't think they'd know how to react. a kung fu fighter can use a boxer's punch and use it to return all that energy in a hit back to them.
it would be harder to kick a boxer in the balls then you think. they have a sideways stance where their balls aren't very welll exposed. plus a lot of boxers grew up street fighting.
streetfighting, you say it like its something of value, fighting without technique is not fighting its brawling and inefficient, its not about what style is better one on one anymore, that one goes to Brazilian jujitsu. kungfu or gung fu or wushu is about using ur meditative states when fighting
no dude its not i did exagerate but, have u seen how shaolin monks trainthemselves since kids and the discipline they have its just something that a boxer, even a professional one havnt gone trough, besides if those 2 style fight each other, one kick in the boxers knee and hes done man, u maybe wanna look for the "one-inch punch" thats just one of many tecniques that kung fu have
either or kung fu is the weakest and least deadly striking art. it's all mysticism and bullshit to believe all hat animal style stuff even works. kung fu only works in the movies.
You then know nothing of Kung Fu. It is the art of striking pressure points, so in fact it is very precise and a deadly technique. Learn about it before you use unconstructive criticism, teamventure08.
so you're a teenager who likes dungouns and dragons, anime, and likes to dance around like a fag and you think you do know somthing about fighting? please.
@MrMatt1512 ...serious? look up karate techniques and tell me they are not similar. maybe it might not be karate but they are similar. and just because he SAYS hes doing something dont mean hes actually doin what you think he is. oh hey, imma CEO of a multi billion dollar company, and u have to believe cuz i said so right?
@itstam619 yes the technique is called a circle punch, almost every traditional asian martial art use that technique for punching. this punch is used in karate, but it was not invented or owned by karate. and the karate version is a lot more practical
the only reason people think MMA is so great, is because it recently became popular on Spike or some other gay chanel...it's no better and no worse than any other martial art
mma is more of a mix of combat skills more than it is a martial art. the real reason people know it's great is because it takes everything that works in real life and mixes it up into one. unlike this fucking video that shows you bad fighting techniques.
there's so many things wrong with this video. first of all the stance. to be well protected your suppose to have your chin down, shoulders up, and hands up protecting your face and chin. they don't show you how to do any of that in this video.
drealy if they want to call themselfs martial arts. and say they can use this for self defense they shold not wast there time with punching and just go stright for the eyes and balls. JKD lives!!!
go straight for the eyes and balls like a pussy ho dosn't know how to fight. if you're the better fighter then you don't need to do all that. that's the kind of stuff they teach women to wart off attackers. you may get a lucky shot to the balls but it's easier said then done. and as far as eye gouging. the person who's the better fighter will most likely win as appose to the one who tries that.
I don't think the things they teach here are useless. It is just that when it comes to traditional martial arts, you need to know which technique works best in a certain situation. I train in Muay Thai for over a decade. Still I have tremedous respect for these traditional martial artists. If you think too high of yourself and your art, sorry to say you may be the one end up lying on the floor.

Even though you are right. I think if you pay this much attention to fighting techniques then you should be so discipline that you would just ignore the stupid people who talk like that. you know better.
Kingpee03 7 months ago
@Brishedo I guess people wanna defend their styles i was in martial arts for 20 years many styles i dedicated my life to it Then i was put into a life and death situation I was attacked violently and i was faced with the truth. Martial Arts is crap Bruce Lee realized this after he was almost killed. Its the hardest thing to accept but when i let it all go for the quest for true combat, i finally discovered form without form. Im sorry but what these guys teach is crap and it will get u killed
stevie2fu 5 months ago
@stevie2fu Man WTF are you SAYING? Martial arts is NOT crap. I mean, it's no use if you don't learn it with passion. It doesnt matter if youre doing it for 20 or 30 years, even someone who's been learning it for 5 years. but with passion will be exceptional. That person WILL be able to sustain an attack. Bruce Lee was not the greatest martial artist, lets face it. you will find hundreds of bruce lees in the shaolin temple in china.
prishc206 4 months ago
@prishc206 highly doubt it. all you will find in the shaolin temple is hundreads of homos
0114770 2 months ago
@0114770 ever been to the temple?
I doubt that.
prishc206 2 months ago
@stevie2fu Sorry to hear about your experience with violent attack. Have you heard these sayings before... "A bad workman always blames his tools" and "a good craftsman can make a silk purse out of a pigs ear"? All MA that have stood the test of time work. They all work because they teach the same thing. Fighting principles. Most fighting principles bring you to the same conclusions regardless of style. It all depends on the teacher's skills and the student's intelligence and dedication.
jasma98 1 month ago
@jasma98 completely agree with you. i like you stevie and i understand what your saying but maybe your just not mentally prepared. as i was saying, your so right! true strenght is people who get up again and fight! ive been through a lot in my life but if ive learned anything its to not sulk and have self pitty but to push all that aside and get up again! face your fears and stay positive!

@Brishedo theres a video on youtube of a kung fu student fighting a thug who was giving him problems. look up kung fu vs bully. its so funny how the thug underestimates him and then gets laid the EF out.
djphilmore 4 months ago
Someone tries that on me i kick his knee you dont need to know any martial arts to know you are giving the enemy all of your balance fools.
DankNuggzwut 2 years ago
unfortunately, a well trained horse stance and any other stance, u can kick it as hard as u can and it wouldnt budge at all. so...if someone loses balance that way, thats their problem not martial arts problem
joe268w 2 years ago
joe nuggz is actually correct, opening up 1 out of 4 of your gates (the knee) isnt worth it for such a weak attack. the correct counter would be a kick to the knee and if it doesn't budge it means its gonna take a lot more damage. when a limb budges back its a natural human defense to absorb as little damage as possible. the knee kick in this situation would be a finisher.

I guarantee that in a MMA like for instance UFC. If trained in Kung Fu, BJJ or JJ, boxing and wrestling your going to most likely be in excruciating pain seeing as Kung Fu is more about pressure points etc. There is a move where you strike the heart in a curtain spot and you will die
futureusmarine0331 2 years ago
There is a move where you strike the heart in a curtain spot and you will die ???? you watch to much chinise shit? i am half blue belt and i am sure there is not shit like that if the human body was able to die that easily we could be all dead by now think before u say something there is no spot in the human body, that makes the human die just by one hit, dont believe what other ppl say seriusly dude ......

actualy i do also taekwondo i dont get tired for 1 hour of kicking so for me the kicks are the best to use
eleszar1 2 years ago
i disagree. punches are better, they are faster and you can throw more out there. they travel a shorter distance. your WAY more likely to hit someone with a punch than a kick. kicks take balance, and once thats thrown off you might get screwed.
ddrmaster1212 2 years ago
punches are better for some people but if you do 50 kicks every day a kick is a lot better then a punch. you have much more power then any hand technique.

i don't think there are such things as riping oponents heart, especially in tai chi,if u did it or read about it's philosophy, where'd u read that :P (or heard)?
Sigma1694 2 years ago
This isn't meant for the cage first off. Second off have fun rolling around on concrete. As much as I disagree with your statement I don't like the other arm that always comes into the stance where it is in by the chest, but I'm sure he would say that in a real life fight he wouldn't have his other hand there
metalmania7778 2 years ago
lol this combo its not for fighting its sparring, u you never use your hands as a first attack you always use your legs to keep your enemy away from you, and u use your hand only when the enemy reach at you
eleszar1 2 years ago
Its def. applicable for the streets. Sparring is fun and all but the kicking you are talking about is more for points, I would only kick someone away if I was tired and needed him to back away, or I wanted to change where I am or my position.
metalmania7778 2 years ago
wrong, keep close. kick only when needed, it takes up alot of energy. while your sitting over there kicking and trying to fend me off i can just conserve my energy until u get tired. also, with that mentality i kno your next move. you'll be way to ez to read. i KNOW your going to kick therefore i have the advantage. so basically MOSTLY punch and kick when you see an opening.
ddrmaster1212 2 years ago
perhaps you are talking about high kicks. because kicks to the inner and outter thighs/knees and every so often to the ribs or solar plexus actually take very little energy and are wonderful to use on someone who wants to get in close.also, with those options you can vary your kicks just as much as punches.
tkdyo 2 years ago
yeah but you cant throw them out there as fast. its easier to read a kick than a punch. its HARD to hit someone in the head and solar plexus with a kick. so basically your kicking "jabs" are going to be to the side of the ribs or to the legs. when it comes to kicks you HAVE to wait for openings. kicks can be way more destructive than punches but you cant just blindly throw them out there.like i said before... OPENINGS!!!
ddrmaster1212 2 years ago
I highly doubt the chances of a Shaolin monk winning against a professional heavy weight boxer like Klichko.

Why is there so many rude comments! HAVE RESPECT for every stye. Kung Fu is an older style where millions of soldiers, warriors, and monks, have fought and died to keep it alive throughout history. Please be mature and educated individuals and have respect for all styles.
hacchichu 3 years ago 7
agree. i bet the best boxer in the world cant beat a 17 yo shaolin monk!
gaspar30 2 years ago
i bet the best kung fu practitioner in the world can't beat a good amature boxer.
teamventure08 2 years ago
thats cuz u r a big fat fag lol sorry i couldnt hold it, no seriously why do u think that?
gaspar30 2 years ago
i guess i do need to lose some weight. but anyway, boxers are very good at what they do and there's nothing better for pure punching then boxing. how could anyone ever think that the best boxer in the world would lose to some kid. that's ridiculous.
teamventure08 2 years ago
well i wonder how a boxer is going to react to being kicked in the balls or leg or when their arm is grabbed and covered? i don't think they'd know how to react. a kung fu fighter can use a boxer's punch and use it to return all that energy in a hit back to them.
trkrichardson 2 years ago
it would be harder to kick a boxer in the balls then you think. they have a sideways stance where their balls aren't very welll exposed. plus a lot of boxers grew up street fighting.
teamventure08 2 years ago
streetfighting, you say it like its something of value, fighting without technique is not fighting its brawling and inefficient, its not about what style is better one on one anymore, that one goes to Brazilian jujitsu. kungfu or gung fu or wushu is about using ur meditative states when fighting
dadada72 2 years ago
no dude its not i did exagerate but, have u seen how shaolin monks trainthemselves since kids and the discipline they have its just something that a boxer, even a professional one havnt gone trough, besides if those 2 style fight each other, one kick in the boxers knee and hes done man, u maybe wanna look for the "one-inch punch" thats just one of many tecniques that kung fu have
gaspar30 2 years ago
one inch punch!! hahaha. lame. a low level striker already beat one of the best monks at stand up. so of course a high level boxer would own up.
teamventure08 2 years ago
Is it a fight to the death or a pure boxing match?
Kung fu is made for war
Blasfulmous 2 years ago
either or kung fu is the weakest and least deadly striking art. it's all mysticism and bullshit to believe all hat animal style stuff even works. kung fu only works in the movies.
teamventure08 2 years ago
You don't have enough knowledge of both arts to carry on a debate of "who's the better warrior?"
There is no point talking to you.
Blasfulmous 2 years ago

jeffdoeskungfu 2 years ago
You then know nothing of Kung Fu. It is the art of striking pressure points, so in fact it is very precise and a deadly technique. Learn about it before you use unconstructive criticism, teamventure08.
thisisthedude123 2 years ago
pressure points. it's more effective to just punch someone in the face then it is to use pressure points.

itstam619 8 months ago
@itstam619 yes the technique is called a circle punch, almost every traditional asian martial art use that technique for punching. this punch is used in karate, but it was not invented or owned by karate. and the karate version is a lot more practical
MrWillard69 7 months ago
just so everyone knows the proper Chinese word for "kung fu" is actually gung fu

the only reason people think MMA is so great, is because it recently became popular on Spike or some other gay chanel...it's no better and no worse than any other martial art
Swick1992 3 years ago
mma is more of a mix of combat skills more than it is a martial art. the real reason people know it's great is because it takes everything that works in real life and mixes it up into one. unlike this fucking video that shows you bad fighting techniques.
teamventure08 3 years ago
there's so many things wrong with this video. first of all the stance. to be well protected your suppose to have your chin down, shoulders up, and hands up protecting your face and chin. they don't show you how to do any of that in this video.
teamventure08 3 years ago
drealy if they want to call themselfs martial arts. and say they can use this for self defense they shold not wast there time with punching and just go stright for the eyes and balls. JKD lives!!!
MichaelVarcade 2 years ago
go straight for the eyes and balls like a pussy ho dosn't know how to fight. if you're the better fighter then you don't need to do all that. that's the kind of stuff they teach women to wart off attackers. you may get a lucky shot to the balls but it's easier said then done. and as far as eye gouging. the person who's the better fighter will most likely win as appose to the one who tries that.
teamventure08 2 years ago

Bigheadet 3 years ago
I don't think the things they teach here are useless. It is just that when it comes to traditional martial arts, you need to know which technique works best in a certain situation. I train in Muay Thai for over a decade. Still I have tremedous respect for these traditional martial artists. If you think too high of yourself and your art, sorry to say you may be the one end up lying on the floor.
