Wow! How I long for those good ol days of televisioin, ain't what it used to be. So much bullshit on tv now you can shake a stick at it. peace out gang!
Hey, blame it on Tartikoff and his minions.(Warren "Must See TV" Littlefield,Bob Wright etc.) at least the arrogance was hidden somewhat as "we are the world" moment when it was still the semi-naieve 1980s of couse no such thing like this could've happened today. If you got all of the networks stars in one place now you'd have world war 3. Besides regardless of any opinion NBC WAS THE first and original broadcasting company in America so they do have some right to show "PEAcockiness"
No. Jeff Zucker (the current NBC President) is to blame for the reason why the Peacock network's in 4th place. It's not Tartikoff's or Littlefield's doing, it's Zucker's.
IMO, Bob Wright deserves to the the network's rightful President and can change everything that Zucker had broken in the past several years and allow it be back in it's glory (Tartikoff-esque) years.
This is from the end of a 1985 hour-long "Fall Preview" special featuring the network's big stars of that season...ever see their 1989 "Fall Preview" featuring "ALF" as a talk-show host?
I liked when they zoom in on the Punky Brewster gang: Henry(George Gaines) Betty(Susie Garret) Punky(Soleil Moon Frye) Margo(Ami Foster) Cherie(Cherie Johnson) Allen(Casey Ellison) Also the Knight Rider gang: Michael(David Hasselhoff) Bonnie(Patricia McPherson) Devon(Edward Mulhare)
A definite classic moment in TV. Unfortunately with reality shows cluttering up the airwaves now, you'll never see a star studded event of this caliber again.
BTW the sound is very out of sync the entire time. Is there a way to get the timing right?
Thanks for the history.... although I don't like the start.. would it have been as 'cute' if the kiddie was a white kid and the "voice of experience" was a black man?
David Letterman savaged this campaign back then. First it was "Be there!" then "Let's ALL be there!" Pathetic. Now there's absolutely no theme to any network's upcoming season.
I used to LOVE these things! I'd get all excited when the camera would zoom in on my favorite actors! I'd squeal like a little girl and shout "Look! The Golden Girls!" or "Oh my god! The Facts of Life gang!" I always wished I caould be part of it. I'd steer clear of that Joey Lawrence though! He was always a camera hog!
What a gorgeous thing for a person like me in Brazil, to see. It's so funny that a TV station from here have made a copy/paste of this promo. But nothing, really nothing can make this promo more emotion to me even it's made in a country that i've have been in my life. NBC my greetins for this great vid. Thanks!
This is an mpg from the '80s Theme Site, which is why the audio is off. If you d/l it directly from there, it's right. I wish another copy would surface. Surely SOMEONE else taped this. I've been watching this one for 10 years now.
I remember this. I wish I had a time machine.

This has been the only copy of this on the net for at least thirteen years. Surely someone else has this on tape and could upload it?

NBC sure liked to carry on like they were hot sh*t once they went from 3rd to 1st in the ratings ... the same arrogance that spawned "must-see TV."

You are so right! Zucker only care to go cheap! Like Jay Leno but many NBC affiliates suffer in their late news at 11PM EST & PST/ 10PM CST &MST

@SailorCallie Tartikoff actually made NBC the powerhouse it was

It's just fantastic! A very touchy moment.
I'm very happy to see all those guys from TV-screen, whom I watched and loved in the childhood. I do miss The A-team and Baywatch.
