@snoozefest41 i think 07 was the last year they had v10, they were twin turbo making 1200 bhp. Safety and (environmental board) lowered power. The Stig drives an 07 around the top gear track under 1 min, you should check it out. Now its naturally aspirated v8 making around 700 i think?

It sounds like it's running a 4.56 LSD Quaife with a low displacement engine. Like under 2.2L. Very cool. Just wish It was an h22 with the stock h22 intake with cams and a big enough throttle body to torque it up to 8,500rpm. Now that would be cool. However it may need mods to the bottom end to be stable above 8,000rpm. Very interesting. I like this video.

@XxZoolander911 your rotary engine floods, horrible MPG, one part of the rotary fails means a shitload of money coming out of your ass, its dead after 150k kms, while the type R is gonna kick the rx8s ass on the circuit, go farther on gas, won't be a bitch to maintain and finally, laugh at your rx8 when it breaks down. Seriously, rotary engines are garbage these days, no wonder mazda discontinued the rx8 because no one wanted to buy that money wasting car.

Last time I checked the rotary engine is used in LeMans racing and other professional circuit/drifting racing events. 5. It hasn't been discontinued. Mazda still produces the Rx8. Last time I check the Type R was not a sports car, never was. It's still a Honda my friend.

@Frittrich On the older motors especially, before it was electronic, the cam profiles' switch over is very dramatic. It's easier to notice doing a gear pull from low rpm's to redline. Going full throttle like this, he's in vtec the whole time besides the start.

It's basically just the car hitting its powerband but more noticeable.

Its still a POS honda. No matter what you put in it, no matter if you only spent $5,000 in mods to run a 10 sec 1/4 mile it will always be a POS Honda. What happens when the road curves? What happens when it snows or rains? I would still rather be in my 08 STI. In my opinion, probably the best DD you can have is a Subaru STI. The sound of my boxer engine sounds 10x better than any POS civic/crx/integra/prelude including this one.

Yeah the B series engines sound pretty sick. I had a B16 which I know is different from a B18c5 but they all produce this type of sound. It's why the B series engines were so popular in the 90s

@tommiedatrip a b16 or b18c1 needs cams to sound like this. integra type r camshafts are easy to find but the civic type r camshafts are legendary but harder to find. if you ride in a civic si and a type r, they sound completely different. the main reason b series got so popular was bc they were so easy to find bc we took advantage of japans emissions laws and got an abundance of used motors with most around 50,000 miles. b series is also a lot more reliable and handles boost better then the h22

@rd3183 just to clarify, there is very little difference between the b16b and b18cr camshafts, from memory only a few degrees of duration, lift remains the same... basically the only difference between the two is the pistons and the crankshaft... and the reason the h22a doesn't take well to boost is due to the frm (fibre reinforced metal) it uses in its sleeves, they expand at a different rate to aftermarket pistons etc. the prelude gearbox also has longer ratios in it. think why people run h2b
