with the latest i7 and phenom II CPU's, even the latest video cards become the bottleneck. have no idea what one would do with the extra cores you have here, maybe folding at home, while running the GPU folding app at the same time.
Intel i7 is obviosly designed for alot of things and most certainly high end gaming.
You´ll need it along with x58 and ddr3 to drive 2 or 3 top end card to the max that´s the GAMING purpose of i7. Otherwise you will be fine with core2 ddr2 and ddr2board with ONE high end grfx card.
"they wont, AM3 probably wont even be close to the power of LGA1366, considering the fact that AM3 can go into AM2 boards but not the other way around."
2point6x4,
Don't You mean: that AM2 can go into AM3 boards but not the other way around?
Actually it's only 4 cores. The extra 4 cores are via HyperThreading and are not "real". It's a tecnique used by Intel to process more threads in each CPU clock without actually having to add more cores to the CPU
FUCK AMD !

lol shut up, with gtx 295 in quad sli the core i7 975 is a bottleneck :)
queenzortje 2 years ago
lol, you shut up, how many people you think have 2 gtx 295 cards?
TheSpiderMind 2 years ago
ye they have, but that doesnt mean the cards are not being bottlenecked, fucking shitface

why do you give just a powerful new processor just a regular looking fan...you should go bigger lolz

HyperX memory guys showed three OC'd machines at CES, very cool
2133Mhz, 2Ghz 7-7-7 and One was running 24G of memory!

Is the CPU fan on core i7 with LED or?
stwashere 3 years ago
its LED if its an Extreme... if not its just black
xBlood08x 3 years ago
on the extreme versions

look at my videos because i have a lot of benchmarks and reviews of the core i7 940 at 3,2ghz and 2 x 4870x2 :)

8 cores?WTF i wish to get one
narcis4none 3 years ago
not really 8 its actually 4 but each core has 2 hyper threads.

Cara esses cores i7 são insanos. "Os verdadeiros quad cores" Insano malandro!!!
Uma dúvida, a xfx 790i ultra aceita estes processadores? Me amarro no design dessa placa e para jogos é a melhor que existe!

i7 is good 4 evething, but 4 gaming an extreme rprocessor is still nr.1!!!

Im sick of all this Intel i7 hype. Heres some actual factual proof why intel i7 is not designed for gaming but designed for servers.
Intel i7+large L3 cache+extremely small L2 cache= not very good gaming performance.
Fact:games Utilize large L2 cache, thats why current dual core and quads are good.
Just google this and read for yourself

Also DDR3. We all know DDR2 is gaming ram due to Ram Timings>GHZ Clock.
jasa00 3 years ago
yes and consider that DDR3 has the double of the bus than DDR2... better design to prevent more signals lost and reduces consumption in about 30%
nivrin13 3 years ago
yeh but the timings are HIGH on DDr3.
jasa00 3 years ago
yeah but still beat DDR2
nivrin13 3 years ago
not exactly. Gaming needs fast timings not nessecery hertz and clock speeds
jasa00 3 years ago
lol DDR3 showed mor performance than DDR2 on games
DDR3 is better...

k sure
