with the latest i7 and phenom II CPU's, even the latest video cards become the bottleneck. have no idea what one would do with the extra cores you have here, maybe folding at home, while running the GPU folding app at the same time.

Intel i7 is obviosly designed for alot of things and most certainly high end gaming.

You´ll need it along with x58 and ddr3 to drive 2 or 3 top end card to the max that´s the GAMING purpose of i7. Otherwise you will be fine with core2 ddr2 and ddr2board with ONE high end grfx card.

Im sick of all this Intel i7 hype. Heres some actual factual proof why intel i7 is not designed for gaming but designed for servers.

Intel i7+large L3 cache+extremely small L2 cache= not very good gaming performance.

Fact:games Utilize large L2 cache, thats why current dual core and quads are good.

Actually it's only 4 cores. The extra 4 cores are via HyperThreading and are not "real". It's a tecnique used by Intel to process more threads in each CPU clock without actually having to add more cores to the CPU
