She didn't refuse. She was 88 1/2 at the time. Things have to be done a bit more delicately at that age when you're being mobbed by a crowd.

I wouldn't call that refusing to sign - like megaboo said, she's an elderly lady and the last thing she needs is to be swamped by people, hence her assistants ushering her past the crowds.

etty white is so amazing. very sucessful. she can do as many movies, commercials, sitcoms, and interviews as she wants, but I will always remember her as Rose Niland from St Olaph, MInnesota. The Golden Girls.

She was great in everything she has ever done!

great! hope she never ever signs anything for you! authographs should be given to fans not to people for whom its a business and couldn't care less about the artist...and then when they refuse to give the authograph put bitchy video's and remarks about them on youtube ..like YOU have just done....YUK!!!

Her handlers make sure now that she will never sign for anyone. I understand their job and the funcitons it entails. That said, you can tell when it runs more deeply in their psyche than it just being a job and spills into OCD, extreme possessiveness (major psychological ramifications) and other neurosis.
