This seems extremely boring. I've never been on the Buzz Lightyear one but i can tell it's much more fun since it's interactive and you actually get some thrills and not just sit and look. I think some people only like it better because they grew up with it.
@Jaheartsjonas Theme park attractions weren't created for the sake of being thrilling. This ride, as well as some of the earlier rides at EPCOT, were built with this "diorama" format. Too you it may seem boring, but to most other people, they find it interesting, not for the sole fact that it is nostalgic, but because they appreciate the effort put into it and the overall message of the ride.
1983horizons1: Where the heck did u get this recording for ur vid? I want it!
Its nice 2 c that others appreciate this ride as much as I do, God I wish it was still around, the last time I rode it was in June of 97 and I was only 9!
The next park built in WDW should be composed of just rides that they've gotten rid of:
Dreamflight, Toad, Submarines, Cranium, Horizons, Worldofmotion, Keelboats, etc.
This ride still lasted 2 yrs after Delta pulled out in 95/96. the ride was briefly called Dreamflight. Then changed to Take Flight gor some reason.
Then early 98 was closed. to become Buzz. Buzz has same basic track-layout within 1st two rooms, the jet engine part is still there plus the sky room, just re-themed to Buzz.
There's also a small homage to Dreamflight: one of the targets is 3 chickens from Dreamflight.
the ride now is Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin its about 20-40 wait time depending on when you go. The waits for the other rides are about 20-40 or less depending on when you go.
I miss this attraction. It was one of my favorites. I've remember this since my first trip to Disney World in 1989 when I was four. I've seen so many of my childhood favorites go. Then again I understand why Disney did away with it. Has to compete with Six Flags and Universal.
Yea, a damn shame what they have done to the place. These old rides were wonderfull. For some reason, these kids today have to have everything big, loud, and thrilling to get excited about them. Can'y enjoy the good things...........
true the the old rides were good, i miss them to, but with all the new disney movies that came out then, like stitch and toy story, disney wanted to update everything
I used to go on this ride all the time with my mom because both my parents were pilots, this was back when I was.. 7-9 years old and it's my earliest memories. We loved it and it began my fascination with flying, back in the day Disney had the rides that you could just stay on and ride over and over again, be completely relaxed just enjoying the sights and sounds. When I watch this it makes me really sad, I can't believe they put that ridiculous Buzz Lightyear crap in its place.
It's really a shame, but Disney seems to have lost that vision that Walt and the other original Disney pioneers provided. Disney attractions used to have this very cozy, yet still very family-oriented touch to them. Now it seems to be more geared towards ages 12-and-under and anything they do that still has that charm is either a total fluke or in the process of getting revamped.
Pleasure Island is closed too. They want to turn it into a family oriented venue. Geez! Is there anything left adult oriented at Disney? And something that isn't too cartoonish? Even at Disney the line has to be drawn between what adults would enjoy and what families would enjoy. A friend of mine got back from a hotel in the Caribbean that was supposed to be adult oriented and there were kids running around everyhwere. I plan to have kids but there will be limits as to what trips they go on.
Please bring back this attraction or something similar! The airline/travel industry needs people to see it from this angle again. I know there is Soarin' but this has a unique prestige and "romance" to it. I remember going on this when I was anywhere from 8-12. Eventhough kids liked this, it did have more of an adult side. Unfortunately, I think Disney is pulling away from the adult side and changing this to Buzz light year was a perfect example!
Totally agree...we were in DW in November and I think Tomorrowland looks weird, not the future at all. Get rid of that LILO and Stich crap and put Horizons back!
I'm 15 but I wish this ride existed now. maybe United Airlines might ask Disney to replace space ranger spin with United Dreamflight. Do you think is a good idea? Please reply.
Nice idea, but these kind of attractions are dying out at WDW. I've been going to Disney since 88 and I've seen Dreamflight, World of Motion, Horizons, Living Seas, Spaceship Earth, Journey into Imagination and the like either change (not always for the best) or become extinct. I hate to see them go, but it's down to Disney having to complete with the other theme parks.
@ham25 prspeppers has the same song by itself on his/her channel too. i think it's on mousebits, but i can't say for certain (no mousebits membership). mousebits is where prspeppers gets all of his/her disney music for his/her channel.
Disney really retained alot of this ride when they put in Buzz Lightyear such as the Omnimover system, the "engine" scene, and the surrounding projection screen.
when i was a kid...i always loved this ride, made me want to go to paris so bad and eventually i really went there...so many classics gone, too bad they cant keep the old when making the new
Wow, Ididn't know about the custom CD kiosks, that's interesting. My family had a commercially released CD of the music of Disney and Epcot. Thanks for the quick reply.
the singer in the last song sounds like the woman from the finale chorous on the current carousel of progress

Dear All,
I have some questions about psychology:
(1) Why do we love flying?
(2) Why do children enjoy to fly more than adults?
(3) Why do we like to see the Disney cartoon characters to fly high in the sky?
(3) Why do we like to fly on a commercial aeroplane with our favorite Disney catoon characters?
(4) Will a Disney airline attractive to pasengers?
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brsinatorm!!! :)

Delta Dream Flight closed its door's in 2000,
And if you ask me disney has lost its way with some of the newer attractions that they now have.
And to answer your ? Toy Story is located in this building.
Itanium153 2 years ago
Blame Delta, they sponsored the ride, and they're the ones who removed their support for the ride. Delta = Jackasses.
