It's deja vu all over again!! I was here at Johnson Center back in 2006, but I was a senior in high school. I was at a meeting downstairs in Dewberry Hall when the game was going on. They let us out early, and because of the large crowds, I stood on top of the fountains under the stairwell, hanging on to the balcony so I didn't fall into the water. I left before they started OT to beat traffic, so I heard the rest on radio. Now here I am, a senior at GMU, and its happening again!!
i know this is realllllly late, but expensive yes, scarce no. i worked friday night and watched mason win the sweet 16. i asked a friend if she wanted to go watch the elite 8 game since it was at the verizon( or mci) center. found tickets on stubhub that night for 2x the face value. it was amazing. it seemed the other two teams who were in the region sold their tickets to mason fans. :) it was home court ad.
This was a great moment for college sports. Everybody's bracket was in shambles because of George Mason. Sadly, the chances of this happening again are extremely small with high school players having to go to college for one year. These are usually the most talented and go to schools where they will get the most exposure. I attend Utah State University and would love to see more mid-major teams like mine do this.
I wish you would have shown the other side of the event, not just the good parts, like when UCONN scored the game tying basket to send the game into OT. I would have loved to seen how silent the center got at that point.
its a shame that a kid (me) got a seat 8 rows up in the uconn section, and watch the greatest moment in NCAA college bball history , when MOST the student body had to watch it a GMU...ive been going to GMU games for 10 years, have met Jim and the team, and MY dad is alumni, not to mention I can walk to the main campus
I loved all the uconn fans talking mad shit before the game outside of verizon center, the nseeing them leaving crying like none other
George Mason played one of the most perfect games of basketball ever! In fact, I think that the 6-day layoff before their match-up with Florida in the Final Four hurt them and took them out of their groove a bit. Had there only been a few days between all the games, I think that George Mason could have won it all! Who agrees?
i think they would have stood a better chance against florida with a shorter break, but at the same time, they had a break of the same length before their sweet 16 match-up.
No- thats the Johnson Center which is the largest building on campus in the center of campus. Its 3 stories / a basement lvl too. It houses 3 restaurants, a library, a food court(taco bell, burger king, chinese food, italian food, subs), the admissions office, 6 computer labs, an auditorium, a radio station, our book store, and our comptuer store just to name a few.

Yeah, that was incredible the way they all packed in, but the game was right in DC :/ Couldn't they have actually gone?
Maybe tickets were tough to get...
