I know this is a Christian band and in some of their songs it's apparent. In some, like this one, it's not. When will we sing a new song? It's just that.. the church has twisted Christianity so badly, it lost it's actual message.

The church's purpose was to alienate us from nature and each other to be more easily manipulated politically.

They listed the most common qualities found in humans, and labeled it "SINS" to make us believe that unless we suck up to them, we will burn in hell and suffer for eternity.

Jesus was the first to preach Christian beliefs..which was peace, love, and unity while worshipping God and following his commands so we can live a better life and help others to do the same. Murdering is wrong, so is stealing, and many other things that Christians call sins. So no, it wasn't a fear tactic to begin with, it became one when the church was given power....which God ended by taking the church's power away.
