I reckon it's because the troubles destroyed economy (who would want to invest in an area rife with terrorism) and then as a solution the government pumped cash into it- people with good jobs being less likely to be disaffected. Scotlands a great country Tammas....with lovely people. I've lived in Glasgow for 3 years now, and love it but...sometimes the nationalist lies annoy me. Like the no English army has ever won against a larger number of scots...which is massively untrue...or the fact that Scotland gets screwed financially, it doesn't. It also has more than its fair share of MPs and much more say on English affairs than vice versa. I like Britain, but would like to see a more federal German style system.

I read today in the herald the SNP are planning to privatise water. Tories in nationalist clothing and deplorable in general. A higher proportion of jobs in scotland are civil service/government funded than in England. So if anything this is another way Scotland is subsidised.

First of all whatever we did to the French, they gave back just as bad. As for the crimes of the Empire, well Scots are just culpable, there were plenty of Scots units involved in the Mau Mau uprising etc, and Irish Troops in the Boer Wars etc. Scots have raised my hometown several times and been defeated an equal number-no1 cares, ancient history.

My history is fine thanks, look it up, Aberdeen, Edinburgh etc have been captured and held by English troops before for instance during the reign of Edward I, Strathclyde was an anglo-saxon kingdom...Scotland has been invaded like pretty much every other country in the world, and the balance of battles lies in the English favour...it's just wrong to state otherwise. It's not that I don't love Scotland or its people its just that it, like everywhere else is a product of many invasions etc
