@basstbone64 It's simply an engraver, not specifical for trumpets.

@basstbone64 pantograph, one pin traces a pattern and the other cuts the engraving. Gunstock duplicators work on the same type principle.

Man, this is waaay cooler than TV. Was the tarry substance to prevent kinking during the bend? How did he get the remaining residue out?
