  • this guy looks like such a greasy unwashed hillbilly

  • And he busts out the riff of "The Rover" by Led Zeppelin.... Paul is the MAN

  • @lloydster9000 right?! such an awesome song. friggin human jukebox

  • 3.01-3.09 Still Waiting by Sum 41

  • @GuitaristBoi9 and a thousand other songs

  • @Kimmocheck hahaha yea yea

  • @GuitaristBoi9

Theres about 135184791284760197601740671927861987801898666 songs with that ECXACT riff lol

  • and about half the pop and punk songs ever recorded. lol.

  • Why does he looked he's been up for 4 days and had nothing but coke.. lol

  • @freaknbigpanda he has always been THAT thin since like, forever. LOL

  • @ermonski Not thin, I'm talking about his face is white as a ghost and he likes like he's high.. I know he's been thin that doesn't have to do with being up for 4 days : |

  • @freaknbigpanda yeah I get yah. he does look pale sometimes LOL. awesome musician still!

  • 2:55 who the hell is he talking to?

  • I've been saying this shit for years. Paul just graduated from one of my favorite guitarists to one of my favorite people.

  • modern rock = gay

  • Press repeatedly 7.

  • @agsharma It really isn't.

  • at 3:00 he played all of pennywise´s discography ever

  • Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt disliked this.

  • whats making Paul a great guy...? He's famous..yet has no problem about goofing around and kinda making a fool out of himself

  • did paul gilbert left laney and changed to marshalls?

  • @vahnrondel Yes he is a Marshall endorser now. I think he changed to Marshall at 2007.

  • @Danje1 do you know why? mmm... just like petrucci from ibanez to earnieball... but i think laney suits more for paul gilbert

  • @vahnrondel Look, or better listen to his music, chronologically (what a word...). His musik is always changing. At first, Racer X, full Gain, Laney. Lately he often plays Blues Rock, where in my opinion, Marshal just sounds better. He also switched from Humbucker to SingleCoils. In general a change of style imo :)

  • @Danje1 i see... now i totally understand why... thanks

  • I think the LSD helped Paul Mccartney haha

  • Paul Gilbert is not only a great player, but a great teacher. His Hot Licks & instructional videos have the greatest educational value for guitarists.

  • the best way to play music is to play with your heart and feel it!!!!! BUT FUSION JAZZ is still the best eheheh cheers paul

  • jeff goldblum + ray romano

  • @Halocon

GOOD music needs to sound good. You can have a good song with 2 chords and it still sound good. You can have a solo consisting of 3 notes and it sounding good. You're thinking waaaay too hard about this. Go back to sweep picking.

  • @trinoply Ooh La La by The Faces has two chords... whole thing. D and G

  • @trinoply

I agree, kinda. To be honest, if a song has just got 2 riffs/chords in it I wouldn't like it a lot, then again, you can write very complex music and still suck. Music has to sound good; wether it's consists of a few riffs or over 100. Keyboards and other instruments can really boost a song though; so not everything depends on the guitar playing.

  • @calastiur

Thats what i'm saying though. Its this stupid obsession guitar players have with technique and speed having to always be 1000000 notes a second and a 1251 chord progression or something, otherwise its not music.

  • @Halocon

Derp derp all music needz a solo omfg lol guyz.

    You are really ignorant.

  • @Halocon

Are you implying that the Offspring even compare with Gilbert? No. Was I? No. The Offspring was a bunch of dudes that got together, jammed like mofos, and got famous. They're punk. Its not supposed to be complicated stuff, its supposed to be fast and simple and loud. Go sweep pick more.

  • @Halocon

Fuck you, the Offspring is one of the best things to happen to rock and punk.

  • love how he puts beethoven and angus young in the same group! xD

  • @Halocon hair loss doesn't affect your guitar playing or songwriting sir ;D

  • @Halocon Bosley hair solution, I'm feelin it.

  • I love hear him playing stripped down stuff like this - when he goes into Deep Purple at 1:47 you get to really hear how good his regular phrasing is. Simple song, just sort of noodling around, but phrasing like this separates a guy like Paul from regular players, in addition to all his other skill..

  • Anybody know the name of that Zeppelin song he was playing?

  • @GuitarHopeful12 rover

  • The Rover from Physical Graffiti

  • yeah paul is right!!!! i dont like the sound of the rock bands nowadays it sound so different than the old days!!!

  • Jimi Hendrix was the definition. His imagination and dreams = his song writing.

  • 'there's some great tunes like that, but too many of them, i think'

    YES.

  • Like it how he does the guitar impression even though he is holding one :D Gotta love paul

  • What's weird is when I write songs, they almost always start on the and of 4, rather than on 1.

  • @manmon77 Mine do that alot too! Almost always inadvertently on the and of 4.

  • 0:49 One!!! he disagree with him self hilarious : )!!

  • What's the name of that Deep Purple song???

  • @taxxxman11111111 Maybe i'm a leo

  • are you talking about greenday......jk..haha

  • he's nothing but righteous!

    a genius indeed!

  • What he said about modern rock is soooooo true

  • completly agree

  • @SilentAce86 actually what he says about modern rock is extremely ignorant and generalized.

  • @GuitarGod119 Well he's an elitist musician, he thinks that just because you know all the hoery in the world that he's the shit.

Look at green day, there whole life making power chord songs and people think they are the best thing since the beatles, not to mention they sell.

I think songwriting has to have 30% technicality and 50% melodic catchiness, and 20% luck and hoping people like it.

Paul isn't famous, so i rather make something that will definitely help out my business.

  • @Jamsessionroom1337 tbh, it all matters on what you want. Paul focused on learning theory and how the music actually WORKS, whereas Green Day focused more on writing music that would appeal to the masses. So is Paul as famous as Green Day? no. But will Green Day ever be called to places like Berklee to hold seminars? Probably not.

  • @StripedShirtsSS But then again who wants that?

Look i love paul gilbert as a teacher but if you wanna be a musician that isn't hungry you gotta make hits.

and as shallow as that sounds that's the music industry for you.

  • @Jamsessionroom1337 Just because Paul's songs don't exactly appeal to the general mainstream audience doesn't mean he's out on the street busking for money, I'm pretty sure he still makes a decent amount of money- not only from his albums, but from his sessions, and endorsements, as well.

  • Legend. :)

  • Very intersting Paul is a genius unkwown

  • everyone knows that he is a genius at music...
