tamsin dont be a tit. Animals can mean a great deal to people - best friends and companions. loosing them can be as bad as loosing a person. i know loads of people who have grieved badly putting their dogs to sleep

@tamsin444 yes people have died and people will always die, as have horses! The two are not mutually exclusive - prohibiting someone from grieving for one does not bring back the other. Try not to be so ignorant, and walk all over people's feelings. Everyones tragedy is personal to them.
