See that chest in the pyramid at 7:26? It's possible to get yourself stuck in that spot with no way out if you crouch when you have a one-space opening, and then you have to restart the entire level.

I played this on the Sega Mega Drive Ultimate Collection game on the PS3 and I enjoyed it, but the ending really is a big let down and the final level is just nasty. Still a great game though and Alex Kidd is the man.

It's a fair game but...

No Alex kidd in the enchanted castle is the only one on the collection, honestly they should dropped the master system version of Shinobi at least put Alex kidd in Mircale world instead, oh well I heard Sega may do Dlc packs so hopefully one would be a best of master system pack as well as some Toe jam and Earl.

Fills me with anxiety to watch this vid. Great game, played through it too many times. But the controls..the short range punches, laggy flykicks and how you need to step back when punching a chest not to miss the coins.. argh! And kids actually adjusted their brains until it felt all natural. :)

I do like this game for the platform action, but the neccessity to "defeat" bosses through "rock, paper scissors" is just absurd, regardless of what many may think! why did they make the last stage COMPLETELY different in the way it WORKS? Why isn't it side-scrolling, rather frame-to-frame like legend of zelda for the NES?

You know there is a secret part of this level? Use the helicopter at the start and fly up through the sky. There are a few chests and you can fly up even more and get moneybags. Then you can punch the wall at the right hand side and get inside the castle!

Also when you start the game, go through the gap on the floor to get some money, and enter the game a few rooms extra!

He does have a point, Mark. Putting a luck game in which causes you to lose a life or go back to the beginning of the stage where the player can't really do anything about it is a bit of a poor design choice.

i used to always die on this stage -- i'd get to it with only a couple of lives left and throw them away almost instantly.
