Those rocks are TINY! I say the wind blew that flake of a rock on top the other. Big one looks 1/4" tall. The one on top is probably 1/32" thick.

I'm all for Mars statues, but those features aren't defined enough to be certain they're not simple erosion marks.

First: If there were ever oceans on mars, these rocks could have settled in the position along the bottom. Secondly: These may not neccesarily be individual rocks, it could be a single rock that appears to be individual rocks do to wind erosion. Four: Other natural events, could have caused these stones to fall in this position, I am not sure of their size...extremely strong winds? Quakes?

I dont think there are organisms floating around in the vacuum of space. We're all conditioned to think the universe is teaming with life but no one has actually discovered anything alive outside of Earth. SETI has been looking 50 years and not a peep from anywhere. If we keep looking another 200 years, will we find it? We have a good understanding of how life evolves on Earth but no one understands how life actually starts. Time will tell.

Good points. Life forms can adapt and survive in harsh conditions. If life is not exclusive to Earth, we should certainly find evidence of past or current life on Mars, since it once had H2O lakes. But it is not at all clear that life naturally begins, even given perfect conditions. Self-replicating molecules on Earth may have been a statistically very rare event. So, I still think we are it. -but I could be wrong.

Interesting observation, and excellent comment. My understanding is that other than a few meteorites, everything so far identified by the rovers in Gusev crater has been classified as basalt. If this is sandstone and not basalt, it would be a major newsworthy discovery just on a geological basis.

In fact, they were supposed to be looking for things like sandstone to look for microfossils with the micro. They saw this and kept going though. Thanks again for the comment.

actually I just looked at the vid again and i'm wrong. it is two rocks. judging from the discoloration on the back side i would say it was deposited there by water. there are no little green men stacking rocks on mars and never were. Mars wasn't habitable long enough for complex life to ever form.
