My all time favourite, this review does it justice, bravo!!!!!!!! I first saw it a few years after it came out, and I liked it so much that it resulted in my decision to learn to fly. A huge influence for me overall.
not only, that it is documentary. It WAS a sensation, when cosmonautics started. But since nothing spectacular happened (like artefacts on the Moon as in the movie 2001-Odyssee dans l'espace;-)) and every new step was so far off and so expensive, people got bored and frustrated.
Wonders and sensations have become short lived and people have become spoilt.
Seems to be a remarkable movie. But I understand, why it wasn't a great success. I know people, I know myself: it's past. It's not fiction. So it's not the kind of movie to attract a great public, for so many years have passed since the real event.

I agree, documentaries have a more difficult life. But then, Apollo 13 was a great success

I don't recall much of this film, myself; but it has the line "keep your wicks dry" that I won't forget.
