Yesterday I wanted to reset my laptop to factory settings but I'm so slow I forgot to do a back-up but I didn't had DVD-R negatives. So I did what's called Disk Sanatizer which wipes all the data from your pc but I didn't know it was going to erase even the programs it came with. Now It says "Non-System disk or disk error replace and strike any key ready" what should I do?

hey kiddo, i reccomend backing up or cloning the partition to a different partition or even better a external harddrive, disks are waay to unreliable (most disks are almost unreadable after 2 year) and if you are going to use disks spend the cash and get taiyo yudens (this is the manufacturer name, you can mainly get em directly from them or jvc is now sells em, the golden ones have the lowest error&dataloss rate on the market (burned @16x they have approx the same loss as pressed factory disks)

I don'y know if it's different in the US, but on Vaios, you can repeatedly press F10 when you boot up to launch the recovery center to perform a 'rescue data' or a system restore (I'm from the UK BTW).

@pchelper102: Type backup and use the native software in Win 7. It even creates a restore cd

will this work for a Vista? Somehow my Windows won't start up,after I had turned off the power button on the laptop. It'll say "Launch Start up Repair" and when I do,it doesn't do a thing. It'll show a black screen. So now I cant logg into my user account. Plus,I can't find the Boot cd,that it came with. Im kinda shit out of luck.. but I am downloading a boot cd torrent files. try turning on the computer and once you see the blue screen hit f10 a few time and it should bring you to a recovery screen that does not require a cd I think

Yes when you want to reinstall vista AKA restoring your computer like its brand new you put the first disk in and something should pop up and you follow the steps If something doesnt pop up put the first disk in and restart your computer it should say Boot from disk
