I really wish that since they have the technology now, Nintendo should make a VB with 32 or 64 bit full color LCD's. It should also be able to play old VB games but make them sorta color helped like the GBA did with the Game Boy. They could also let all the companies finish up their 20 games that never saw the light of day if they kept the designs and such. That would be the coolest thing ever.

@ninjaslayer99 I do not put down opinions. What you are doing is a majority forced opinion to make me upset in any conceivable way. If you personally owned a virtual boy, that does not conclude the OPINION "it is awful" to be perfectly true. The main failed reason was it's design, it was extremely difficult to program for the screen split to make the 3D effect. That and the fact that it is directed toward the gaming audience of that time which were kids that could get eye damage from the system.

To think about it, the 3ds and Wii are close enough that. I don't think you need a new VB, but maybe instead 3d technology bound to hit a new Wii.

I know the new handheld system will be out soon, probably similar to Gamecube graphix (wich on handheld is dope as hell) We all know that the DS right now isnt quite that of Gamecube and hardly meets Nintendo 64 graphix, cmon guys u know it!! I bought the last stock of virtua boys at toys r us in 96, and my mom bought all 47 systems for a staggering $24 a system and sold them for $90 each at flea market

I'd rather petition for them to not make a new one soon. Why? Well, like the PS3 and any console, you can upgrade the controllers and periferals. They could make a new censor bar that can also read depth, having its own CPU ops. Use the regular usb like where the PSeye plugs into, or the original censor bar spot.

Why I say this, is because the Wii is able to do between the early to late 6 series of Geforce cards graphically. Even the 6200 can perform GOW1 at 24-30fps.

They could actually make plus as its own controller versus this long thing you get as an attatchment. They could, like the move, make the controller rounded versus rectagular for better grip and less sores. They could do anything like that and its been done before.

Not to complain, just, like Microsoft made Controller S for XB, anything nintendo can do to improve on a future console, they can do now. Its like plus having its own new games, yet works with the old stuff.

Concept art, painted or CG, never give us their full glory ingame. With shader effects and what Wii can do, we could have ingame looking just like the concept art. Like Prime, it looks good, but its blocky and represents a comparison of MotherBrain, NES graphics versus that painted art for her for the NES game of the good ol NES Mother Brain (if you seen this). I'd rather be set into that world, not because it looks good, but because its the imagination fully coming to light.

@pengywengyman remember the early Pokemon episode in Japan that gave the kids seizures, I think the same thing might happen with a full color version of the VB, which is why Nintendo is staying away from it, and going with the 3DS. I know about light seizures, my g/f, and her sis, both have various forms of them, and it's not pretty.

@clays121 You are right that they would have to take in safety precautions about brightness levels and the rate at which it causes the 3D, otherwise it would do so like that rocket explosion. The 3DS would be a better alternative for now, because it is easier to market as a portable console, and has the right technology to take safety precautions rather than submerge someone in a Virtual reality Experience, which, wasn't really what the VB ended up doing. The 3DS will be a promising system.

@pengywengyman Yep, and I also forgot to add that when the Atari Jaguar was out, they had a prototype VR helmet system for it, that was shown at CES, and people who used it longer then 30mins at a time, reported being dizzy, and feeling sick to the point of throwing up, I think there was only one game with the prototype, needless to say Atari scrapped the project on those small test results, well that and going bankrupt at the time LOL!

I played this on my Virtual Boy. AWESOME LOOKING GAME!!!!

But with no other levels and no sound, it's really lacking. This could have been made into a really great game. Methinks this is what some of the 007 game would have looked like.

I dont understand.. besides the obvious red/black and the failure of it.. why people consider the Virtual Boy so terrible. Some of the games for it were pretty decent, a few were good.

It DID do real 3d. The only sort of 3d we are ever going to get without LITERAL projected in real life 3d.

We see 3d with both eyes. Virtual Boy composites two images the way we see in real life giving real 3d in the same way those old ViewMaster toys did.

It did 3D but using a single red ray which killed your eyes after only a few minutes, it also killed your back cos you had to lean into it on a stand and had to use loads of batteries because they still thought it was portable.

Pretty much it's a disaster.

If they had decided to make it a stationary console it could have been plugged into the mains, had a colour display (or at least more pleasing greyscale & been fixed to your head, rather than leaning over it, then it would have been win.
