  • all of the hardware stores in my town don't have Bondo putty and fiberglass resin.. can you suggest anything else that I can use?? do you think starch would work well??

  • @dreadmaster28 Sorry but I don't know of any substitutes. And I don't think starch would work well but I've never tried it so I don't know. Have you searched the internet for a substitute? There might be something out there.

  • @xXBocephusXx I searched the net.. all I found is by melting atleast 30 sticks of hot glue and brushing it all over the internal part of the piece. it works by I can't get the perfect round-shaped helmet..

  • @dreadmaster28 Well, I'm sorry but I don't know what to tell you.

  • so how do I make a visor?? and out of what material exactly??

  • @dreadmaster28 I show one way to make a visor in my video called 'How to finish a raw cast' It's in Part 4 I believe.

  • I don't really get why you put sand in the Vaseline?

  • @1mpulseS0D I don't either. I read somewhere that it helps so I put it in the tutorial but I don't even do it anymore.

  • for paint flakes, i hear that a light mist of spray adhesive and rock salt sprinkled on the areas work great as well.

  • THe helmet Im making is actually silver, so what colour do I use for the prime?

  • @darthjero12 The silver isn't the primer. The primer was the black paint. I only added the silver so I could make it show through the final coat of colored paint so it looked battle damaged.

  • your videos have been extremely helpful, im making a daft punk helmet, lol, but still helpful

  • Thank you for the video.

Is that silver paint an enamel paint, or an acrylic?

    Cheers.

  • @w0mblemania I can't remember what that one was, but most spray paints are usually enamel I believe.

  • Thank you so much dude. I'm new to pep so I'm starting small, I'm working on emiles knife. And I know this might be a stupid question but will the resin and bond apply to the knife as well as a helmet?

  • did you use pepakura to make it?

  • @fore70364 Yep.

  • @xXBocephusXx you gunna sell it

  • You've inspired me to give this type of project a shot. I need a hobby anyway. lol

  • is the blak a primer after wet sanding?

  • @MrWasabidude Yes.

  • what toothpaste did you use? or doesnt it matter

  • @halozamns I don't think it matters.

  • What do you mean by priming it again.

  • i was jw please would you be able to make a new vid on how to do the folding for pepakura please respond:)

  • @xXTR1CK3RYXx What's wrong with the old video?

  • @xXBocephusXx u dont really tell us about the folding

  • do you do this professionally?

  • @lonelamon No, I'm just an amateur. =)

  • How long does it usually take to make a helmet from beginning to end

  • @weslikespie It really depends on the complexity of the helmet and how much you work on it, but I would say around 1.5 to 2 weeks of pretty steady work.

  • hi i admire your vids and i would apreciate it if you would kindly answer my question i am a complete newbie to pepakura and making props and i wanted to know what would be the easyest "HALO" helmet prop to make ? please reply soon thanks

  • @lotusfan1992 I recommend trying a Halo 2 ODST helmet or a Marine helmet.

  • @xXBocephusXx thanks verry much i was already considering making a halo 2 odst helmet because i have the pdo file i need but i dont think it looks that good i might make a recon helmet or a halo 3 odst hemet simlar to yours but making a big graze scratch on one side to make it look like rookie got pwned by a brute shot blade to the face bearly missing hiss neck. but all that hard work pays of right

  • So all we need is cardstock, bondo, fiberglass risin, sanding(optional),and painting and we get a real lookin helmet like yours?

  • If your making a whole halo suit do you still do the same process or do you have to do it a different way

  • @ExistingStorm It is pretty much the same way. You have to figure out padding, straps, etc. but the armor building part is basically the same.

  • @xXBocephusXx k thanks

  • if you dont want weathering or battle damage do you have to do any of this?

  • @ridafett133 No. It's completely optional. Adding battle damage makes it look cool though :D

  • if you dont want weathering or battle damage do you have to do any of this

  • Bocephus, what do you mean by "primeing" it?

  • I assume you're a member of the 405th, what's ur username?

  • @sullysaccount It doesn't really matter, I prefer to use matte because it's easier to get into high detail spots and is thicker but it doesn't make too mich difference.

  • will these helmets work in a paintball fight?

  • I watched all parts but i must of missed the p[art where you added detail like the lines etc? :S

  • @FPSkiz I didn't make a specific tutorial for the details. I just cut them in to the bondo with my dremel tool.

  • ok what about the Vaseline

  • do you have to use the vasalen and the sand and all that

  • @TheRecon312 Check the description.

  • when you fiberglass do you use cloth or matt and how do you do it

  • @Sullysaccount I just use what I have. Mat is a little stronger but cloth is less messy sometimes. I have a tutorial showing how to fiberglass a helmet on my channel.

  • was that helmet made from pepakura?

  • @brazothegr8 Yes this helmet was made from pepakura.

  • @xXBocephusXx Pepakura 4 Ever !

  • @34Naruto54 The Vaseline keeps the other paints from covering the silver where you want the silver to show through.

  • @34Naruto54 Not that I know of. All of the ones I've seen are duller than polished steel.

  • Im planing on making a Halo: Reach E.V.A. helmet...how would you make it look like the visor is weathered/battle damaged?

  • @SuperHenchmen I would just spray some flat black paint onto a rag and wipe it around the edges of the visor to make it look like dirt and grime and also maybe put some scratches into the visor. Just try different things. =)

  • do you have to do the jelly thing if you dont want that battle damage

  • @hiddenkid99 No, battle damage is up to you.

  • How do you mix spray paint to achieve a certain color?

  • you primed it..

    whats priming??

  • @arceder3 Its like paint you put on before a final coat of paint.

Ushally for the final coat to look, shine, and stick better

  • can i use sugar or salt insted of sand... i dont think im going to the beach any time soon xD

  • @xXxTRYAGAINxXx You don't have to add the sand it you can't find any. It doesn't really do much but add a little texture and thickness to the jelly. I don't know if sugar or salt would work. Maybe you could do a test piece first.

  • im guessing you used pepakura right? what did you do to make the outside of the helmet smooth? did you use some kind of resin or fiberglass sheets?

  • @bandages13 I use bondo to smooth my helmets on the outside and add details.

  • how do you put a visor in?

  • @AddDude23 I usually hot glue it in.

  • @xXBocephusXx thanks

  • wow thats a nice silver! what brand and color code was that? could you PLEASE help a brotha out? haha

  • @PestVic I think it's American Accents silver but I'm not sure.

  • I use to just take crome paint and lightly spray it on a crumpled up towel you usually find in school buildings in the bathrooms. And then streak it on. Works pretty good

  • @iTrolIz Yeah, that's basically the dry brush method and I've used it before too. Whatever works for you. =)

  • what is priming? sorry I is noob.

  • which are the materials you use? silver paint and more?

  • @bryan4oscuro Silver spray paint, Vaseline/toothpaste, pop-sickle sticks, and some sand paper.

  • @xXBocephusXx thanks men

  • Its easier to use a dremel to carve dents cuts and scratches and just use a very small paint brush like an artists kind and paint silver also using a brush and just spraying the end and brushing edges of the armor gives it a damaged look

  • @breathecarolinabomb Yeah, I've used the dry brush method before and it works but I like this way better. It's really a personal preference of how you do weathering and battle damage. =)

  • When your pep product is done, First you resin it, then Fiberglass inside, and then Bondo, Then spot putty, and then wet sand then do this.I'm sorry to disturb you though I was just curious of the order to this.Thx

  • @playstationfan363 Yeah that's right.

  • @xXBocephusXx Thank you Sir

  • Amazing Helmet I'm gonna I have to try an ODST one

  • how do you make it so smooth because mine is all blocky

  • @masterodst1 You need to add some bondo to that helmet. =) Watch my tutorial on how to bondo your helmet.

  • hey its me again, i wanted to know if the sand make that much of a difference, and what does it do, and i am going to use toothpaste, btw great tutorial. We need more like yours scattered around youtube

  • @k11yle No you don't have to use the sand if you don't want to. It just helps add a little bit of texture when you scrape off the toothpaste. It doesn't really effect it that much so don't worry about it.

  • @xXBocephusXx but wait, did u use your hands or did u use like a folded stencil or something, ohh and btw, how did u use the dremel without cutting through the helmet completly?

  • @k11yle I just use my hands. Most of my work is by eye. I don't really measure or stencil anything.

As for the dremel, I just practiced a lot. I go really lightly and know how deep I can go without cutting through. You just need some experience and lots of practice. =)

  • fuckin subcribed :D

  • odst helmet is too PRO! you and rube and a bunch of other guys inspired me to make one hahaha

  • Thanks man! I'm glad I could help inspire you to start making your own armor. Go for it!

  • @xXBocephusXx how to make the scars

  • @nadiaafiqah95 You make the stars by scratching the helmet to reveal the silver underneath.

  • dude what do u do if ur helmet has some defects when fiberglassing do i use bondo to fix and how do i wet sand the helmet?

  • what type of mattalic paint did you use

  • I just used silver metallic spray paint.

  • What's the point of the sand? is it just for thickness?

  • It adds to the realism because it makes it look as if real sand had been rubbed against the helmet.

The real good way of making it realistic is to rub the sand after when your taking of the jelly.

  • cool im making an ODST helm in 3 days

  • Nice.

  • the odst helmet is so hard to cut out if you use pepakura

  • I've done harder.

  • cool!

just got a helmet, planning on panting it.

  • Cool. Where did you get the helmet from?

  • from a friend... looks like he fell with it before since its scraped on some parts... already sanded it down and primed it yesterday...

    too windy today to finish

  • Nice.
